10 Important Political Events In 2019 That Could Affect Global Politics by 24hoursreporter: 4:50pm On Jan 13, 2019 |
2019 seems to be more of a political year. There are several political events around the world waiting to happen this year. Interestingly, these events will go a long way to affect global politics. Even though politics is very unpredictable, the outcome of the following 10 political events in 2019 will go a long way to affect international politics. 10 Important Political Events In 2019 That Could Affect Global Politics #1. February 16: Nigeria General Election One of the important political events people around the world are looking forward to is Nigeria General election. This election is scheduled to hold on the 16th of February, 2019. The major contestants aspiring to be the next President of Africa’s largest economy (Nigeria) are; President Muhammadu Buhari (The Incumbent President) and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the former vice president of the country. While the former is running under the platform of the ruling party, APC, the latter is a candidate of the opposition party, PDP. The emergence of President Buhari as the President of Nigeria in 2015, was the beginning of a new era. It was the first time power was peacefully passed from one party to another. As February 16th is fast approaching, there are still some questions Nigerians need answers to. One of them is “Does any of the candidates have the masses at heart”? #2. March 29: Brexit Day By now, you must have heard about the Brexit saga. Going by the current UK law, Britain has to leave the European Union on the 29th of March, 2019. However, it is still unclear if the Brexit will happen on the proposed date. Well, we are all looking forward to that day. #3. March 31: Ukraine Presidential Election The world is looking forward to the Ukraine Presidential election. For about two decades now, Ukrainians are suffering from bad leadership. The leading Contenders in Ukraine Presidential election are; the incumbent Petro Poroshenko and former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko. The Ukrainians are really passionate about this election as they are all looking forward to a better economy as against the corrupt and stagnant system they are currently facing. In 2004, the Orange Revolution campaign promised Ukrainian change, but the winners failed to deliver their campaign promise. Sadly, the Revolution of dignity campaign that the citizens all believe in has started failing again. #4. April-May India General Election India General election is also what most people will be looking forward to. In this election, about 850 million Indians will be casting their votes which will determine the fate of Narendra Modi. #5. April 17th: Indonesia Presidential Election The Indonesia Presidential election is another political event in 2019 that people are looking up to. The country that happens to be the 3rd largest democracy in the world is seriously preparing for the change of Government. The incumbent president, Joko Widodo came was elected on the 20th of October, 2014. His 5 years tenure ends in 2019 and he is seeking reelection back to power. #6. May 23-26: European Parliamentary Election The European Parliamentary election is another date we are all looking forward to. You obviously don’t need a soothsayer to know that the outcome of the election will affect global world politics. The European parliamentary election holds once in every 5 years. The last one took place in 2014 and we are looking forward to the next one between 23rd to 26th May 2019. What Europe will be in the next 5 years will be a function of the people voted during this election. #7. May 2019: South Africa General Election The South Africa General Election is Scheduled for May 2019. The incumbent President of the country, Cyril Ramaphosa is seeking reelection under the platform of Africa National Congress (ANC). #8. October 21: Canada Federal Election Canada Federal election is another important political event in 2019. The election will hold on the 21st October 2019. The question now is “Will Justin Trudeau and his Center-Left Liberal Party Will the election the way they did in 2019?” It seems they are fast losing their popularity. #9. October 27: Argentina General Election Argentina General election will hold on the 27th of October 2019. It is an election that will be very interesting. The election is between the incumbent president, Mauricio Macri, once a wealthy businessman and Former President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner. #10. November 5: Israel Legislative Election The Israel Legislative election is another interesting election the world is waiting passionately to see. Most Israelis are demanding for change and this election may bring that desire change into being. The current Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu, has been in office since 2009. It may interest you to know that Israeli Police have recommended that he face corruption charges. LIKE KEMI ADEOSUN LIKE JUSTICE ONOGHEN? - So there is a very stupid comparison going on about how Kemi Adeosun the worst finance minister this country has seen ever resigning when her NYSC forgery saga happened. The supporters of the evil government of the day have gathered over night and after sucking blood have come up with a narrative to justify why the current Chief Justice of Nigeria should resign just days to the elections that will liberate this country from cow brains. They say the opposition did not accept her excuse of ignorance of not knowing her certificate was forged, why should anyone accept the Chief Justice excuse that he thought his asset declaration was up to date. They say the Yorubas did not blow hot when she was sacked why should the south south or south east complain now about their own. See ehn honestly this blind following of Buhari and this government is not a joke anymore. Because I see very intelligent people dropping their brains and wearing cow brains to reason. I now more than ever believe that there are indeed foreign marabouts positioned round this country invoking confusion on these people. Lets analyse the two situation. KEMI knew her certificate was forged because she was confronted with it but she compromised to keep it silent so she can be minister. When the kasala happened, she was quiet for a long time before the stupid excuse about her not knowing. Took the government close to 3 months or so the let her go, and instead of prosecuting her or handing her over to the relevant authorities, she was quickly escorted to the airport and she escaped out of the country. The government went back to propaganda like nothing happened. Justice Onoghen on the other hand has done his assets declaration which should last till 2020 before a new one is done, opened a dom account after the declaration and thought he will only have to declare that when next he updates his assets declaration. On the 9th a petition was brought, 10th govt reviewed it, 11th he has already been declared a criminal who should resign and go face a Code of Conduct tribunal, same one they did not ask Kemi to go to. How convenient. If you do not see the script here you are STUPID! (No apologies). This is the only play here to destabilise the judiciary, or plant a pawn who will be of interest to the government in twisting justice. There has been a gradual plot to put everything in place to make sure what happened to GEJ does not happen here this election. This is a do or die for them, and the way they are taking Nigerians for granted is really annoying. If Buhari truly has the people and the numbers by his side why is he worried about the system? So before you call for Justice on Onoghen (Which I agree he should face if found guilty) , bring Kemi back to face the same thing for forging her certificate. DIMBO ATIYA 19 Likes 6 Shares

Delete No. 1, nothing happens in Nigeria that is capable of affecting global politics. We have over the years reduced our global impact to zero or none. On the trade side, maybe if the political event cuts oil supply, it will just be a little pinch. Plus our politicians are too greedy, and will accept to sell oil to anyone regardless of their political ideology. 1 Like |

I have no pity for most Nigerian youths. They are so gullible and crazy. Only a crazy man who has not eaten 3 square meals for weeks but will see an opportunity to change the narrative and decide not to do so. Mortgage their future for a pittance and be proud in their ignorance. Enjoy your change o Naija. 3 Likes 1 Share |
