The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has urged the Federal Government to show concrete evidence of commitment to agreements on meeting its demands over the on-going strike

ASUU President, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi made this known in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria on Monday, January 14, 2019.

Speaking with News Men, Biodun said the unon would communicate its decision on offers made by the government on Tuesday.

Muslim Rights Concern Appeal to ASUU to Call Off Strike

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has called on the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to call off its lingering strike.

The group made this call in a statement issued by the director of MURIC, Prof, Ishaq Akintola on Tuesday, January 15, 2019.

The Muslim group appealed to the ASUU leadership to consider the state of the nation and the plight of the students.

LAUTECH International School Bars 55 Students over Hijab

About 55 female Muslim students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) International School Ogbomoso were on Monday prevented by authorities from entering the school premises over the use of Hijab.

A senior lecturer in the school, who pleaded anonymity, confirmed the students were turned down by the institution’s authorities for wearing Hijab on their uniforms.

According to the lecturer, the story dated back to 2011 when the first request was made to the Governing Board of the School to allow willing Muslim females children to use Hijab as part of their school uniform in line with Islamic dictate.

Meghan Markle Accidentally Reveals her Baby’s Due Date

Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex let slip her baby’s due date as she chatted to well-wishers in Birkenhead on Monday.

Meghan, 37, revealed that she is six months pregnant, with her first child expected in late April as she met locals in the Merseyside town during her and Prince Harry’s first joint engagement of the year.

She also revealed the couples don’t know whether they’re having a boy or a girl, as they want it to be a “surprise”, according to Cosmopolitan.com.

Opposition Coalition Celebrates IGP Idris Retirement
Opposition political parties under the platform of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) on Tuesday celebrated the retirement of the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris by cutting a cake.

CUPP’s spokesman, Imo Ugochinyere, told journalists in Abuja that the cutting of the cake was meant to symbolise the end of Idris’ “era of shame and inglorious past.”
