Petition for the recall of Hon. Oladimeji Sabur Bankole

On behalf of the undersigned, being  “more than one-half of the person registered to vote” in Aboekuta South Federal Constituency, as required by S. 69 (a) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria [‘CFRN’] , I hereby present this petition for the recall of Hon. Dimeji Bankole, the Honorable member of the House of Representatives of the Federal Republic of Nigeria representing Aboekuta South Federal Constituency [‘the Constituency’] on ground of loss of confidence in the said Hon Dimeji Bankole.
The undersigned had earlier retained the services of firm of legal consultants by name Corporate Legal Consulting, for the purpose of advising on the subject when the constituency became worried and felt consistently undermined and imperiled by the acts of Hon. Dimeji Bankole. The firm wrote a letter dated September 13, 2008 to Hon. Dimeji Bankole to intimate him of this development and to avail the benefit of his response (if any) to the grounds stated in the said letter. The letter was also published in a widely circulated national newspaper, The Sun Newspaper of Wednesday October 8, 2008 at page 17. A copy of the said publication is attached.

On November 3, 2008 the firm, Corporate Legal Consulting sent its “Initial Advisory LegalOpinions” to the recall initiatives committee wherein the firm advised that the constituency had the constitutional power to initiate recall proceedings and recall Hon. Dimeji Bankole pursuant to S. 69 of the CFRN.

The advisory opinion was also widely published in The Sun Newspaper of Monday November 10, 2008 at page 38. A copy of the said publication is attached.   Despite series of publication intimating Hon. Dimeji Bankole of the intention of the constituency to initiate recall proceedings against him for the purpose of purging himself of acts forming the basis of the recall initiative, he (Hon Dimeji Bankole) has continued till date to engage in acts capable of undermining peace, integrity and security of his constituency, including the generality of Ogun State leading to initiating this constitutionally enshrined recall process pursuant to S. 69 of the 1999 Constitution.

The ground of our petition is:

Loss of Confidence due to complications resulting from abusive use of office, indiscipline, and acts causing disaffection and a breach of the peace in Ogun State, particularly in the Abeokuta South Federal Constituency.

This petition is subscribed and signed by the undersigned, representing more than one-half of the persons registered to vote in Abeokuta South Federal Constituency.   We thank you in anticipation.   Yours faithfully,     signed Xxxxxx xxxxxx For the undersigned registered voters of the Abeokuta South Federal Constituency
