DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 25, 2019 THEME: WHEN GOD JUDGES IDOLATRY BIBLE TEXT: JEREMIAH 19:1-15 1. Thus says the Lord : “Go and get a potter’s earthen flask, and take some of the elders of the people and some of the elders of the priests. 2. And go out to the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, which is by the entry of the Potsherd Gate; and proclaim there the words that I will tell you, 3. and say, ‘Hear the word of the Lord , O kings of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem. Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: “Behold, I will bring such a catastrophe on this place, that whoever hears of it, his ears will tingle. 4. “Because they have forsaken Me and made this an alien place, because they have burned incense in it to other gods whom neither they, their fathers, nor the kings of Judah have known, and have filled this place with the blood of the innocents 5. (they have also built the high places of Baal, to burn their sons with fire for burnt offerings to Baal, which I did not command or speak, nor did it come into My mind), 6. therefore behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord , “that this place shall no more be called Tophet or the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter. 7. And I will make void the counsel of Judah and Jerusalem in this place, and I will cause them to fall by the sword before their enemies and by the hands of those who seek their lives; their corpses I will give as meat for the birds of the heaven and for the beasts of the earth. 8. I will make this city desolate and a hissing; everyone who passes by it will be astonished and hiss because of all its plagues. 9. And I will cause them to eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters, and everyone shall eat the flesh of his friend in the siege and in the desperation with which their enemies and those who seek their lives shall drive them to despair.” ’ 10. “Then you shall break the flask in the sight of the men who go with you, 11. and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Even so I will break this people and this city, as one breaks a potter’s vessel, which cannot be made whole again; and they shall bury them in Tophet till there is no place to bury. 12. Thus I will do to this place,” says the Lord , “and to its inhabitants, and make this city like Tophet. 13. And the houses of Jerusalem and the houses of the kings of Judah shall be defiled like the place of Tophet, because of all the houses on whose roofs they have burned incense to all the host of heaven, and poured out drink offerings to other gods.” ’ ” 14. Then Jeremiah came from Tophet, where the Lord had sent him to prophesy; and he stood in the court of the Lord’s house and said to all the people, 15. “Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: ‘Behold, I will bring on this city and on all her towns all the doom that I have pronounced against it, because they have stiffened their necks that they might not hear My words.’ ” Jeremiah 19:1-15 NKJV GUIDE TEXT God complained through Jeremiah that the people of Judah had abandoned Him and ran riot in their worship of idols. They had even gone to the extent of burning their children in the fire as sacrifice. The people were so stubborn and refused to turn away from their sins. God therefore pronounced His judgment which was irrevocable and irreversible. It was be like the potters earthen flask which, if broken, could not be made whole again. God declared that He would let their enemies defeat them and kill them in battle. He would allow birds and wild animals to feed on their corpses. A siege would be laid against them to the extent that they would feed on each others flesh out of desperation (vs. 6-9). Proverbs 29:1 says, He who is often rebuked and hardens his neck, will suddenly be destroyed and that without remedy. Let our rebellion not push God to the wall for such a decision over us. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God (Hebrews 10:31). Are you daring God? What is your decision now? May you bow down your head and cry to God for repentance. PRAYER: Lord, give me sufficient grace and help me to follow you fully in this life and not to serve other gods beside you. Credits : Daily Fountain Devotional |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 2019 THEME: THE DANGER OF BEING A FALSE PROPHET OR PRIEST BIBLE TEXT: JEREMIAH 20:1-6 1. Now Pashhur the son of Immer, the priest who was also chief governor in the house of the Lord , heard that Jeremiah prophesied these things. 2. Then Pashhur struck Jeremiah the prophet, and put him in the stocks that were in the high gate of Benjamin, which was by the house of the Lord . 3. And it happened on the next day that Pashhur brought Jeremiah out of the stocks. Then Jeremiah said to him, “The Lord has not called your name Pashhur, but Magor-Missabib. 4. For thus says the Lord : ‘Behold, I will make you a terror to yourself and to all your friends; and they shall fall by the sword of their enemies, and your eyes shall see it. I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall carry them captive to Babylon and slay them with the sword. 5. Moreover I will deliver all the wealth of this city, all its produce, and all its precious things; all the treasures of the kings of Judah I will give into the hand of their enemies, who will plunder them, seize them, and carry them to Babylon. 6. And you, Pashhur, and all who dwell in your house, shall go into captivity. You shall go to Babylon, and there you shall die, and be buried there, you and all your friends, to whom you have prophesied lies.’ ” Jeremiah 20:1-6 NKJV h GUIDE TEXT Yesterday, we discussed Gods reaction to a stubborn, unrepentant heart. Today, God brings us to the issue of His reaction to deceitful workers (ministers, priests and pastors). In this passage, God pronounced judgment on Judah and on a false priest, Pashhur, for deceiving the nation. Pashhur would be a terror to himself and his friends; he would be taken to Babylon in captivity and die there. The people of Judah would also be taken captive and some killed. Their wealth and treasures would be plundered and taken by their captors. We have to be careful these days of confusion and scrambling for recognition by some of the modern prophets and apostles who dish out conflicting messages with questionable origins. God warned us in 1 John 4:1 do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. The offices of Prophets, Apostles, Evangelists, Teachers, and Pastors are unique and the occupiers must be careful how they handle it and be sure they are truly called by God. If you deceive people because they trust you, your punishment will be like that of Pashhur. You stand the danger of bringing calamity to yourself, your hearers and our nation if you deceive people in the name of God. PRAYER: Lord, may you help me not to use your name to deceive my hearers, Amen. Credits: Daily Fountain Devotional |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2019 THEME: DOING THE WILL OF GOD IN MINISTRY BIBLE TEXT: JEREMIAH 20:7-18 7. O Lord , You induced me, and I was persuaded; You are stronger than I, and have prevailed. I am in derision daily; Everyone mocks me. 8. For when I spoke, I cried out; I shouted, “Violence and plunder!” Because the word of the Lord was made to me A reproach and a derision daily. 9. Then I said, “I will not make mention of Him, Nor speak anymore in His name.” But His word was in my heart like a burning fire Shut up in my bones; I was weary of holding it back, And I could not. 10. For I heard many mocking: “Fear on every side!” “Report,” they say, “and we will report it!” All my acquaintances watched for my stumbling, saying, “Perhaps he can be induced; Then we will prevail against him, And we will take our revenge on him.” 11. But the Lord is with me as a mighty, awesome One. Therefore my persecutors will stumble, and will not prevail. They will be greatly ashamed, for they will not prosper. Their everlasting confusion will never be forgotten. 12. But, O Lord of hosts, You who test the righteous, And see the mind and heart, Let me see Your vengeance on them; For I have pleaded my cause before You. 13. Sing to the Lord ! Praise the Lord ! For He has delivered the life of the poor From the hand of evildoers. 14. Cursed be the day in which I was born! Let the day not be blessed in which my mother bore me! 15. Let the man be cursed Who brought news to my father, saying, “A male child has been born to you!” Making him very glad. 16. And let that man be like the cities Which the Lord overthrew, and did not relent; Let him hear the cry in the morning And the shouting at noon, 17. Because he did not kill me from the womb, That my mother might have been my grave, And her womb always enlarged with me. 18. Why did I come forth from the womb to see labor and sorrow, That my days should be consumed with shame? Jeremiah 20:7-18 NKJV GUIDE TEXT Jeremiah seemed to be struggling with his call and ministry. He was complaining to God concerning the experiences he was going through. It was not easy for him. Jeremiahs call and messages were bringing mockery, reproach and shame daily to him. His message was not the modern popular prosperity messages. Jeremiah was a crying prophet. He even cursed the day of his birth. He seemed frustrated to the extent he decided not to speak anymore in Gods name, but His word was in my heart like a burning fire shut up in my bones; I was weary of holding it back, and I could not. It is not easy answering Gods call or doing His will in ministry. Sometimes, those who have left all to follow the Master feel they had made a mistake. Some regret ever deciding for such. Some feel abandoned and frustrated like Elijah who felt he was the only prophet left and even wished to die. Sometimes, doubts would come, like in the case of John the Baptist who sent his disciples to find out if Jesus was actually the expected Messiah. In such situations, we need the rekindling fire of the Word of God to jolt us into action. Our service has eternal values. It outlives whatever we have abandoned and followed Christ. We name Churches and people today after the Apostles because they sacrificed all to follow Christ. Dont give up. PRAYER: Lord, help me to fulfill my ministry no matter the unpalatable challenges I face in it. Credits : Daily Fountain Devotional |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 2019 THEME: WHAT DO YOU WISH TO HEAR? BIBLE TEXT: JEREMIAH 21:1-14 1. The word which came to Jeremiah from the Lord when King Zedekiah sent to him Pashhur the son of Melchiah, and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah, the priest, saying, 2. “Please inquire of the Lord for us, for Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon makes war against us. Perhaps the Lord will deal with us according to all His wonderful works, that the king may go away from us.” 3. Then Jeremiah said to them, “Thus you shall say to Zedekiah, 4.‘Thus says the Lord God of Israel: “Behold, I will turn back the weapons of war that are in your hands, with which you fight against the king of Babylon and the Chaldeans who besiege you outside the walls; and I will assemble them in the midst of this city. 5. I Myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even in anger and fury and great wrath. 6. I will strike the inhabitants of this city, both man and beast; they shall die of a great pestilence. 7. And afterward,” says the Lord , “I will deliver Zedekiah king of Judah, his servants and the people, and such as are left in this city from the pestilence and the sword and the famine, into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those who seek their life; and he shall strike them with the edge of the sword. He shall not spare them, or have pity or mercy.” ’ 8. “Now you shall say to this people, ‘Thus says the Lord : “Behold, I set before you the way of life and the way of death. 9. He who remains in this city shall die by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence; but he who goes out and defects to the Chaldeans who besiege you, he shall live, and his life shall be as a prize to him. 10. For I have set My face against this city for adversity and not for good,” says the Lord . “It shall be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire.” ’ 11. “And concerning the house of the king of Judah, say, ‘Hear the word of the Lord , 12. O house of David! Thus says the Lord : “Execute judgment in the morning; And deliver him who is plundered Out of the hand of the oppressor, Lest My fury go forth like fire And burn so that no one can quench it, Because of the evil of your doings. 13. “Behold, I am against you, O inhabitant of the valley, And rock of the plain,” says the Lord , “Who say, ‘Who shall come down against us? Or who shall enter our dwellings?’ 14. But I will punish you according to the fruit of your doings,” says the Lord ; “I will kindle a fire in its forest, And it shall devour all things around it.” ’ ” Jeremiah 21:1-14 NKJV GUIDE TEXT In this passage, King Zedekiah sent people to ask Jeremiah to speak to the Lord for them concerning the impending invasion by King Nebuchadnezzar. They hoped that the Lord would show mercy and avert the invasion. God told them point-blank that He would fight them Himself. Nebuchadnezzar would deal with them decisively and even kill their king. Only those who surrendered to the Babylonians would survive. The city would be destroyed. Though this message was not palatable to the ear, Jeremiah never coloured the message. Is it not ironical that even the very people who continually break Gods heart seek His blessings daily? They wish to hear palatable messages from God. Those they consult cash in on this to deceive them. Even those in authority gather pastors and prophets who will tell them what they wish to hear; praise singing. Every bad government at the risk of losing votes hires sycophants who turn truth into lies for the sake of winning election (1 Kings 22:5-7). Any genuine minister of God will not sell his birthright because of unjust gain. You must say what God tells you to say, whether sweet or hard. At this period of confusion in ministry, do you seek for false prophesies? What message do you receive: sound or diluted? PRAYER: May you, Oh Lord, direct me to your servants that will tell me only the truth. Credits : Daily Fountain Devotional |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, 2019 (TRINITY 15) TOPIC: THE BRANCH OF RIGHTEOUSNESS BIBLE TEXT: JEREMIAH 23:1-8 1. “Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of My pasture!” says the Lord . 2. Therefore thus says the Lord God of Israel against the shepherds who feed My people: “You have scattered My flock, driven them away, and not attended to them. Behold, I will attend to you for the evil of your doings,” says the Lord . 3. “But I will gather the remnant of My flock out of all countries where I have driven them, and bring them back to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase. 4. I will set up shepherds over them who will feed them; and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, nor shall they be lacking,” says the Lord . 5. “Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord , “That I will raise to David a Branch of righteousness; A King shall reign and prosper, And execute judgment and righteousness in the earth. 6. In His days Judah will be saved, And Israel will dwell safely; Now this is His name by which He will be called: THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. 7. “Therefore, behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord , “that they shall no longer say, ‘As the Lord lives who brought up the children of Israel from the land of Egypt,’ 8. but, ‘As the Lord lives who brought up and led the descendants of the house of Israel from the north country and from all the countries where I had driven them.’ And they shall dwell in their own land.'" Jeremiah 23:1-8 NKJV GUIDE TEXT The Lord promised to judge the shepherds (unrighteous leaders) who destroyed and scattered His people. God would punish them for their actions. He also would gather His people from the places they had been scattered. He would raise a a Branch of righteousness; a King for the house of David who shall reign, prosper and execute judgment and righteousness in the earth. This King would also be known as THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. This prophecy is about Christ, the Son of David who will come to execute judgment and rule the world in righteousness. He will judge in righteousness all people, including the shepherds of the flock. As a shepherd of the flock, how are you leading the flock? Are you scattering or gathering with the owner of the flock? Are you ready to give account to this King about the flock committed into your care when He returns? As a follower, are you ready to give account of how you follow the shepherd? Are you listening to direction and instructions from the shepherd? Time will tell. PRAYER: Dear Lord, make us ready to face the Branch of Righteousness when He returns. Credits: Daily Fountain Devotional |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 2019 [(St. Michael and all angels (transferred)] THEME: CONTENDING FOR THE FAITH BIBLE TEXT: JUDE 1:8-10 8. Likewise also these dreamers defile the flesh, reject authority, and speak evil of dignitaries. 9. Yet Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!” 10. But these speak evil of whatever they do not know; and whatever they know naturally, like brute beasts, in these things they corrupt themselves. Jude 1:8-10 NKJV GUIDE TEXT The text today describes St. Michael contending for the body of Moses from the Devil. Moses offended God through disobedience and the Devil felt he had a right over his body. Michael did not insult the Devil but used the name of God to rebuke him and to wrestle the body of Moses from him. This is an example of contending which is the main theme of the book. The word contend does not call up peaceful images but denotes several things: to be aggressive, forceful, to strive, fight, resist, not giving in, maintaining a stand without looking back, standing firm, being unmovable, being steadfast, not giving a loophole, etc. 2 Corinthians 10:3-6 explains to us that contending is not a physical war of gun, knife and special military weapons but spiritual; not of flesh and blood. To contend, we must put on the whole armour of God in Ephesians 6:10-18 and the garments of priesthood as in Exodus 28:1-36. In this present world, there are many things to contend with - it doesnt matter attitude, same-sex marriage, homosexuality, tattooing, unclothedness, immodest dressing, heresies, ungodliness, sodomy, sexual immorality in high and low places, corruption, etc. All these exist both in the Church and secular society and they all war against our faith. That is why we are charged to contend earnestly for the faith. Are you contending? PRAYER: Lord, give us the grace to contend for the Faith in the face of all the rottenness. DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF TUESDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2019 THEME: JUDGMENT IS INEVITABLE BIBLE TEXT: JEREMIAH 24:1-10 1. The Lord showed me, and there were two baskets of figs set before the temple of the Lord , after Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and the princes of Judah with the craftsmen and smiths, from Jerusalem, and had brought them to Babylon. 2. One basket had very good figs, like the figs that are first ripe; and the other basket had very bad figs which could not be eaten, they were so bad. 3. Then the Lord said to me, “What do you see, Jeremiah?” And I said, “Figs, the good figs, very good; and the bad, very bad, which cannot be eaten, they are so bad.” 4. Again the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 5. “Thus says the Lord , the God of Israel: ‘Like these good figs, so will I acknowledge those who are carried away captive from Judah, whom I have sent out of this place for their own good, into the land of the Chaldeans. 6. For I will set My eyes on them for good, and I will bring them back to this land; I will build them and not pull them down, and I will plant them and not pluck them up. 7. Then I will give them a heart to know Me, that I am the Lord ; and they shall be My people, and I will be their God, for they shall return to Me with their whole heart. 8. ‘And as the bad figs which cannot be eaten, they are so bad’—surely thus says the Lord —‘so will I give up Zedekiah the king of Judah, his princes, the residue of Jerusalem who remain in this land, and those who dwell in the land of Egypt. 9. I will deliver them to trouble into all the kingdoms of the earth, for their harm, to be a reproach and a byword, a taunt and a curse, in all places where I shall drive them. 10. And I will send the sword, the famine, and the pestilence among them, till they are consumed from the land that I gave to them and their fathers.’ ” Jeremiah 24:1-10 NKJV GUIDE TEXT Todays passage reveals that judgment came, and was to come upon Judah as a whole; the entire nation would feel the pain of it. Yet that did not mean that everyone in Judah was the same in Gods eyes. Some were like the good figs and were essentially sent out of Judah to Babylon for their own good. Judgment upon a nation or community means that all suffer, even those who may be individually innocent of the sins that brought Gods judgment. What God said to Jeremiah through the two baskets of figs implies that even when all suffer under a national judgment, God still knows the difference between those caught up in the judgment and those who brought down the judgment. Just like those who remained in Jerusalem and seemed to have been exonerated from the national calamity would suffer precariously, so also corrupt individuals who currently feel at ease in Nigeria will drink their full cups of suffering at the fullness of time. You may dodge your responsibility but you may not dodge the consequences of dodging your responsibility. PRAYER: Lord, please deliver our nation from corrupt leaders and followers. PRAYER POINTS FOR THE FOURTH QUARTER 1. Thank God for His guidance these 58 years as an independent nation. 2. Thank God for defeating your foes and giving you victory over challenges of life. 3. Confess your sins of lack of faith and unbelief in God. 4. Pray for the government officials at the Federal, State and Local government. Pray for the President, his Vice, members of Legislature both Federal and State, members of Judiciary both Federal and State. Pray that the Spirit of God will direct their policies and its implementation for the benefits of the masses. 5. Pray against Boko Haram and its sponsors. Pray that God will frustrate their efforts and agenda. 6. Pray for God to assist the government in fighting corruption. Pray for all the agencies that fight corruption. Pray that it would not be political witch-hunt. 7. Pray for the success of DIVCCON this year. Pray for all the resource persons and participants. 8. Pray that God will keep them safe as they come and go. 9. Thank God for the year ending and ask Him to keep us safe in the coming year. Pray and cancel every cause of leaking blessings in your life, business and career. 10. Pray and command every spiritual hole in your life to be closed. 11. Lord open up all the good doors of my life that I may enter my rest. 12. Pray that every sickness in your life will receive termination in the name of Jesus. 13. Pray that God will uproot evil things from your life and plant good things there. Credits : Daily Fountain Devotional |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 2, 2019 THEME: TO BE FOREWARNED IS TO BE FOREARMED BIBLE TEXT: JEREMIAH 25:1-11 1. The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah (which was the first year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon), 2. which Jeremiah the prophet spoke to all the people of Judah and to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying: 3. “From the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, even to this day, this is the twenty-third year in which the word of the Lord has come to me; and I have spoken to you, rising early and speaking, but you have not listened. 4. And the Lord has sent to you all His servants the prophets, rising early and sending them, but you have not listened nor inclined your ear to hear. 5. They said, ‘Repent now everyone of his evil way and his evil doings, and dwell in the land that the Lord has given to you and your fathers forever and ever. 6. Do not go after other gods to serve them and worship them, and do not provoke Me to anger with the works of your hands; and I will not harm you.’ 7. Yet you have not listened to Me,” says the Lord , “that you might provoke Me to anger with the works of your hands to your own hurt. 8. “Therefore thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘Because you have not heard My words, 9. behold, I will send and take all the families of the north,’ says the Lord , ‘and Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, My servant, and will bring them against this land, against its inhabitants, and against these nations all around, and will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, a hissing, and perpetual desolations. 10. Moreover I will take from them the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones and the light of the lamp. 12. And this whole land shall be a desolation and an astonishment, and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years. Jeremiah 25:1-11 NKJV GUIDE TEXT When we were young, our parents had their special ways of communicating with us. Their communication through eye contact, for example, could signal either their approval or otherwise of whatever we were doing. Daddy, unlike Mummy, could tolerate us for months and this drew us closer to him than mummy. But once he lost his patience, we could be sure deliverance was not near at all. In today's passage, God would not punish his people because they sinned but because they took God and his servants for granted by rejecting all warnings and entreaties. Certainly, when a man sins perpetually, he is simply challenging God to the boxing ring. Please note the instrument of Israels punishment and Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, My servant (v.9). This is similar to the method God employed in the book of Joel where locusts are described as Gods servants. Dear reader, do not wait until you receive the rod of your enemy before you repent because you may not win such battle. PRAYER: Lord, please teach me consistent obedience and may the rod of the enemy never fall on me. Credits: Daily Fountain Devotional |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE THURSDAY, OCTOBER 3, 2019 THEME: THE TRUE MARKS OF GENUINE LEADERS BIBLE TEXT: 1PETER 5:1-6 1. The elders who are among you I exhort, I who am a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that will be revealed: 2. Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly; 3. nor as being Lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock; 4. and when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away. 5. Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” 6. Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, I Peter 5:1-6 NKJV GUIDE TEXT Todays passage calls for the need to mirror our leadership styles and motives in the light of the Bible. While many of our leaders today are money changers and merchants, who see the ministry as a means of making money and dominating subordinates, Peter tells us a leader is humble and a servant of others. He accepts the task of being ahead (leading) without the ambition to get ahead in so doing. We are tempted to measure leaders in terms of their success, but the Scriptures measure them in terms of their faithfulness in the midst of suffering. Success is not the test of leadership; suffering is. When we introduce a Christian speaker, we tell the audience of their educational achievements, their success in ministry (usually measured in numbers), and their acceptance by men. Peter will have none of this. And neither should we. We must desist from thinking of leadership as an honour rather than a means of expressing humility. It should be seen as an opportunity to empty ourselves in service to others rather than a sense of being fulfilled. PRAYER: Make me a leader after your heart, O! Lord. DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF FRIDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2019 THEME: GOD WILL NOT BE SILENT FOREVER BIBLE TEXT: JEREMIAH 25:12-26 12. Then it will come to pass, when seventy years are completed, that I will punish the king of Babylon and that nation, the land of the Chaldeans, for their iniquity,’ says the Lord ; ‘and I will make it a perpetual desolation. 13. So I will bring on that land all My words which I have pronounced against it, all that is written in this book, which Jeremiah has prophesied concerning all the nations. 14. (For many nations and great kings shall be served by them also; and I will repay them according to their deeds and according to the works of their own hands.)’ ” 15. For thus says the Lord God of Israel to me: “Take this wine cup of fury from My hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send you, to drink it. 16. And they will drink and stagger and go mad because of the sword that I will send among them.” 17. Then I took the cup from the Lord ’s hand, and made all the nations drink, to whom the Lord had sent me: 18. Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, its kings and its princes, to make them a desolation, an astonishment, a hissing, and a curse, as it is this day; 19. Pharaoh king of Egypt, his servants, his princes, and all his people; all the mixed multitude, all the kings of the land of Uz, 20. all the kings of the land of the Philistines (namely, Ashkelon, Gaza, Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod); 21. Edom, Moab, and the people of Ammon; all the kings of Tyre, 22. all the kings of Sidon, and the kings of the coastlands which are across the sea; 23. Dedan, Tema, Buz, and all who are in the farthest corners; 24. all the kings of Arabia and all the kings of the mixed multitude who dwell in the desert; 25. all the kings of Zimri, all the kings of Elam, and all the kings of the Medes; 26. all the kings of the north, far and near, one with another; and all the kingdoms of the world which are on the face of the earth. Also the king of Sheshach shall drink after them. Jeremiah 25:12-26 NKJV GUIDE TEXT When seventy years are accomplished ...... (v.12). Seventy years accounted from the time that the Jews were carried away in the time of Jeconiah or Jehoiachin, (2 Kings 24:15,16). This was fulfilled by Darius, the king of Persia, (Daniel 4:31). Though God, to whom belongs all creation, and who is the Lord of all the hosts of his creatures, often makes use of heathens and other wicked men to punish his own people, yet he will at last punish these same wicked men too; and ordinarily, when he punishes them, it is with a more severe and grievous destruction than that by which he punishes his people. God allows a nation to have power until it fills up its cup of iniquity, and when it does, the Bible says He removes that nation from power (See Daniel 2:21; 4:17; Leviticus 18:24-28.) God follows a consistent principle when dealing with humanity. This is called the "full cup principle." The full cup principle is based on the idea that God measures the actions of mankind. Every time we do wrong, we add a sin to our cup of grace. When all of Gods grace has been displaced by willful sin, our cup becomes full of bitterness and we have to drink the consequences of our actions. Many people currently interpret Gods silence or passiveness with evil to mean that He is either nonexistent or indifferent to what we do. Others see His permissiveness as proof that He is not interested in each persons day-to-day activities. For this reason, a growing number of people are committing horrible, evil deeds and thinking that God does not see them and will not hold them responsible for their actions. How wrong they are! PRAYER: Lord keep me from willful disobedience to your word. Credits : Daily Fountain Devotional |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF SATURDAY, OCTOBER 5, 2019 GODS JUDGMENT IS REAL BIBLE TEXT: JEREMIAH 25:27-38 27. “Therefore you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: “Drink, be drunk, and vomit! Fall and rise no more, because of the sword which I will send among you.” ’ 28. And it shall be, if they refuse to take the cup from your hand to drink, then you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts: “You shall certainly drink! 29. For behold, I begin to bring calamity on the city which is called by My name, and should you be utterly unpunished? You shall not be unpunished, for I will call for a sword on all the inhabitants of the earth,” says the Lord of hosts.’ 30. “Therefore prophesy against them all these words, and say to them: ‘The Lord will roar from on high, And utter His voice from His holy habitation; He will roar mightily against His fold. He will give a shout, as those who tread the grapes, Against all the inhabitants of the earth. 31. A noise will come to the ends of the earth— For the Lord has a controversy with the nations; He will plead His case with all flesh. He will give those who are wicked to the sword,’ says the Lord .” 32. Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Behold, disaster shall go forth From nation to nation, And a great whirlwind shall be raised up From the farthest parts of the earth. 33. And at that day the slain of the Lord shall be from one end of the earth even to the other end of the earth. They shall not be lamented, or gathered, or buried; they shall become refuse on the ground. 34. “Wail, shepherds, and cry! Roll about in the ashes, You leaders of the flock! For the days of your slaughter and your dispersions are fulfilled; You shall fall like a precious vessel. 35. And the shepherds will have no way to flee, Nor the leaders of the flock to escape. 36. A voice of the cry of the shepherds, And a wailing of the leaders to the flock will be heard. For the Lord has plundered their pasture, 37. And the peaceful dwellings are cut down Because of the fierce anger of the Lord . 38. He has left His lair like the lion; For their land is desolate Because of the fierceness of the Oppressor, And because of His fierce anger.” Jeremiah 25:27-38 NKJV GUIDE TEXT The prophecy in this passage was given prior to the final Babylonian invasion of Jerusalem (Jeremiah 25:1), so it is possible that verse 29 could refer to the final Babylonian invasion of Jerusalem. However, the language in several verses in Jeremiah 25:15-38 is reminiscent of the language found in verses about the end times. Indeed, several Bible prophecy passages suggest that Jeremiah 25:29s fulfillment is likely during the end times. If Jerusalem, Gods chosen city was not spared, then, all the nations of the earth should get prepared for the dreadful day of the Lord Some people are of the opinion that God cannot afford to punish the multitude of sinners on the face of the earth, perhaps for their vast number or on account of Gods mercy. Todays passage is teaching otherwise; God is going to judge iniquities and not even his elects who are involved, will be spared. Although God is merciful, he is at the same time, terrible. Both are his attributes. Do not ever imagine that Gods warnings are mere intimidation. He means what He says and says what He means. If we believe that God is dependable, and we can believe Him to fulfill His every good promise, then nothing prevents us from believing that his wrath will be released on every disobedience. PRAYER: Lord grant me the heart that trembles at your word. Credits : Daily Fountain Devotional |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF SUNDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2019 THEME: RESPONSIBILITY DEMANDS ACCOUNTABILITY BIBLE TEXT: MATTHEW 25:14-30 14. “For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them. 15. And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey. 16. Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents. 17. And likewise he who had received two gained two more also. 18. But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his Lord’s money. 19. After a long time the Lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them. 20. “So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.’ 21. His Lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord.’ 22. He also who had received two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.’ 23. His Lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord.’ 24. “Then he who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed. 25. And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.’ 26. “But his Lord answered and said to him, ‘You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed. 27. So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. 28. Therefore take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents. 29. ‘For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. 30. And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ Matthew 25:14-30 NKJV GUIDE TEXT This section of Scripture constitutes part of Jesus final warnings, prophecies, and encouragements to His people prior to His departure. He, who is their Lord, is leaving for an undisclosed period of time. He is delegating to them the responsibility, as stewards, to care for His kingdom. In Matthew 25:14-30, Jesus is teaching lessons about what His second coming would be like. Each of the servants in the parable were given talents matching their abilities and were expected to put those talents to use for the Masters glory. The Parable of the Talents, Matthew 25:14-30, impresses on them the weight of that responsibility and the serious consequences of neglecting to understand and apply His instructions. Be reminded that talents are gifts and not our personal belongings, because a man cannot receive anything except it is given to him from above (John 3:27). Every talent is expected to make us responsible and actively involved in the project of Gods kingdom. And for all that, God has committed into your hands, you are going to give account. PRAYER: Father in heaven, help me to live with the consciousness that I will give account of my stewardship to you. HAPPY SUNDAY Credits: Daily Fountain Devotional |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF MONDAY, OCTOBER 7, 2019 THEME: SEEK THE LORD WHILE HE MAY BE FOUND BIBLE TEXT: JEREMIAH 26:1-11 1. In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, this word came from the Lord , saying, 2. “Thus says the Lord : ‘Stand in the court of the Lord ’s house, and speak to all the cities of Judah, which come to worship in the Lord ’s house, all the words that I command you to speak to them. Do not diminish a word. 3. Perhaps everyone will listen and turn from his evil way, that I may relent concerning the calamity which I purpose to bring on them because of the evil of their doings.’ 4. And you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord : “If you will not listen to Me, to walk in My law which I have set before you, 5. to heed the words of My servants the prophets whom I sent to you, both rising up early and sending them (but you have not heeded), 6. then I will make this house like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.” ’ ” 7.So the priests and the prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the house of the Lord . 8. Now it happened, when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking all that the Lord had commanded him to speak to all the people, that the priests and the prophets and all the people seized him, saying, “You will surely die! 9. Why have you prophesied in the name of the Lord , saying, ‘This house shall be like Shiloh, and this city shall be desolate, without an inhabitant’?” And all the people were gathered against Jeremiah in the house of the Lord . 10. When the princes of Judah heard these things, they came up from the king’s house to the house of the Lord and sat down in the entry of the New Gate of the Lord ’s house. 11. And the priests and the prophets spoke to the princes and all the people, saying, “This man deserves to die! For he has prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your ears.” Jeremiah 26:1-11 NKJV GUIDE TEXT Jeremiah's first major trouble during Jehoiakim's reign came about when he was told by God to go to the Temple and warn all who came there that unless they lived by God's Laws, God would cause Jerusalem to become as ravaged as the ancient town of Shiloh, the town where the Tabernacle was set up when Israel first came into the land of Canaan (Joshua 18:1; Psalm 78:60; Jeremiah 26:6). Shiloh had been destroyed by the Philistines hundreds of years before Jeremiah's time (1Samuel 4:10-12). Again, why would this warning be taken to the Temple? Surely, God is no respecter of any man and judgment must begin at the house of God: and if first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? (1Peter 4:17).Unfortunately, an opportunity to repent came to the doorstep of Gods people and they trivialized it as these warnings went unheeded. What a wasted opportunity by Gods people! God will not punish men for sinning but he will punish them because men have opportunities to repent but they ignored Gods word. There are always two reactions to the word of God; you either accept or reject it. Jesus is at the door of your heart, do not reject him like the Jews pushed him out of their Synagogue in his home town, Nazareth (Luke 4:29) PRAYER: Lord, I humbly receive your word. Cause it to prosper in my heart. Credits : Daily Fountain Devotional |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF TUESDAY, OCTOBER 8, 2019 THEME: FEAR NO FEAR BIBLE TEXT: JEREMIAH 26:1-24 1. And you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord : “If you will not listen to Me, to walk in My law which I have set before you, 5. to heed the words of My servants the prophets whom I sent to you, both rising up early and sending them (but you have not heeded), 6. then I will make this house like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.” ’ ” 7. So the priests and the prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the house of the Lord . For he has prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your ears.” 12. Then Jeremiah spoke to all the princes and all the people, saying: “The Lord sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city with all the words that you have heard. 13. Now therefore, amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of the Lord your God; then the Lord will relent concerning the doom that He has pronounced against you. 14. As for me, here I am, in your hand; do with me as seems good and proper to you. 15. But know for certain that if you put me to death, you will surely bring innocent blood on yourselves, on this city, and on its inhabitants; for truly the Lord has sent me to you to speak all these words in your hearing.” 16. So the princes and all the people said to the priests and the prophets, “This man does not deserve to die. For he has spoken to us in the name of the Lord our God.” 17. Then certain of the elders of the land rose up and spoke to all the assembly of the people, saying: 18. “Micah of Moresheth prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and spoke to all the people of Judah, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Zion shall be plowed like a field, Jerusalem shall become heaps of ruins, And the mountain of the temple Like the bare hills of the forest.” 19. ’ Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah ever put him to death? Did he not fear the Lord and seek the Lord ’s favor? And the Lord relented concerning the doom which He had pronounced against them. But we are doing great evil against ourselves.” 20. Now there was also a man who prophesied in the name of the Lord , Urijah the son of Shemaiah of Kirjath Jearim, who prophesied against this city and against this land according to all the words of Jeremiah. 21. And when Jehoiakim the king, with all his mighty men and all the princes, heard his words, the king sought to put him to death; but when Urijah heard it, he was afraid and fled, and went to Egypt. 22. Then Jehoiakim the king sent men to Egypt: Elnathan the son of Achbor, and other men who went with him to Egypt. 23. And they brought Urijah from Egypt and brought him to Jehoiakim the king, who killed him with the sword and cast his dead body into the graves of the common people. 24. Nevertheless the hand of Ahikam the son of Shaphan was with Jeremiah, so that they should not give him into the hand of the people to put him to death. Jeremiah 26:1-24 NKJV GUIDE TEXT The idea of death, the fear of it, haunts the human animal like nothing else, wrote Earnest Becker in his book, The Denial of Death. Thanatophobia the fear of death - can compel a man to confess the sins he has not committed because no one hears of his imminent death and will not be afraid. But this was not going to be the case with Jeremiah. He communicated the word of God without giving consideration to any negative reaction. Eventually, he would not die as the Princes and all the people convinced the people against their earlier plan (v.16). Some among us today cannot open their mouths to share the gospel because they are choked with anxiety over what people might think. Many will remain silent in a just cause while shrinking from the repercussions of speaking out. Many Priests have rejected their postings on account of imaginary fear that does not exist anywhere. And there are others who dread rejection so much that it keeps them from living up to their own convictions. Of all, the fear of men seems to be the greatest fear of men of God. Fear is the opposite of faith. But none of the two can accommodate the other as the presence of one signals the disappearance of the other. PRAYER: Lord, give me faith that dispels fear. DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 9, 2019 THEME: GOD RULES IN THE AFFAIRS OF MEN BIBLE STUDY: JEREMIAH 27:1-11 1. In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, this word came to Jeremiah from the Lord , saying, 2. “Thus says the Lord to me: ‘Make for yourselves bonds and yokes, and put them on your neck, 3. and send them to the king of Edom, the king of Moab, the king of the Ammonites, the king of Tyre, and the king of Sidon, by the hand of the messengers who come to Jerusalem to Zedekiah king of Judah. 4. And command them to say to their masters, “Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel— thus you shall say to your masters: 5. ‘I have made the earth, the man and the beast that are on the ground, by My great power and by My outstretched arm, and have given it to whom it seemed proper to Me. 6. And now I have given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, My servant; and the beasts of the field I have also given him to serve him. 7. So all nations shall serve him and his son and his son’s son, until the time of his land comes; and then many nations and great kings shall make him serve them. 8. And it shall be, that the nation and kingdom which will not serve Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, and which will not put its neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, that nation I will punish,’ says the Lord , ‘with the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand. 9. Therefore do not listen to your prophets, your diviners, your dreamers, your soothsayers, or your sorcerers, who speak to you, saying, “You shall not serve the king of Babylon.” 10. For they prophesy a lie to you, to remove you far from your land; and I will drive you out, and you will perish. 11. But the nations that bring their necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon and serve him, I will let them remain in their own land,’ says the Lord , ‘and they shall till it and dwell in it.’ ” ’ ” Jeremiah 27:1-11 NKJV GUIDE TEXT Our reading today reveals why God must be reverred and feared. Indeed, He is an awesome God! Jeremiah was made to wear the yoke of wood which was a symbol of the light burden to be received by being under the King of Babylon to whom God had promised to hand over the nation of Judah and her neighbours because He owns them all (vs.1-5). We have to note however that Nebuchadnezzar was chosen as Gods instrument, not because he was godly, rather he was borrowed to serve a divine purpose, until his time is up (v.7, NLT). As a child of God, there are times when God will allow wicked persons to rule and mete out discipline to His Children. He may also allow painful and challenging situations to overwhelm us. Trying to avoid this may complicate issues further (v.. We must also realize that bad leadership with the attendant policies; painful situations and challenges are periods of temporary trials which are bound to pass as it was prophesied about Babylon (v.7). To a user of this devotional today, God is asking us to submit to His chastisement, hold the fort and we will surely sing a new song. PRAYER: Help me Lord to accept your plans for my life and surrender to your will in all situations. Credits : Daily Fountain Devotional |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUUDE OF THURSDAY, OCTOBER 10, 2019 THEME:HEARKEN NOT UNTO THEM BIBLE TEXT:JEREMIAH 27:12-22 12. I also spoke to Zedekiah king of Judah according to all these words, saying, “Bring your necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him and his people, and live! 13. Why will you die, you and your people, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence, as the Lord has spoken against the nation that will not serve the king of Babylon? 14. Therefore do not listen to the words of the prophets who speak to you, saying, ‘You shall not serve the king of Babylon,’ for they prophesy a lie to you; 15. for I have not sent them,” says the Lord , “yet they prophesy a lie in My name, that I may drive you out, and that you may perish, you and the prophets who prophesy to you.” 16. Also I spoke to the priests and to all this people, saying, “Thus says the Lord : ‘Do not listen to the words of your prophets who prophesy to you, saying, “Behold, the vessels of the Lord ’s house will now shortly be brought back from Babylon”; for they prophesy a lie to you. 17. Do not listen to them; serve the king of Babylon, and live! Why should this city be laid waste? 18. But if they are prophets, and if the word of the Lord is with them, let them now make intercession to the Lord of hosts, that the vessels which are left in the house of the Lord , in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem, do not go to Babylon.’ 19. “For thus says the Lord of hosts concerning the pillars, concerning the Sea, concerning the carts, and concerning the remainder of the vessels that remain in this city, 20. which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon did not take, when he carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, from Jerusalem to Babylon, and all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem— 21. yes, thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning the vessels that remain in the house of the Lord , and in the house of the king of Judah and of Jerusalem: 22. ‘They shall be carried to Babylon, and there they shall be until the day that I visit them,’ says the Lord . ‘Then I will bring them up and restore them to this place.’ ” Jeremiah 27:12-22 NKJV GUIDE TEXT One of the problems of Christianity today is the increasing rate of prophecies and positive confessions that have become a habit. This however is not a new phenomenon. It was the same in the time of Jeremiah. Prophets were prophesying contrary to what God told him (Jeremiah) but he warned the people not to hearken to them in verses 14, 16 and 17 because I have not sent them, saith the Lord yet they prophesy a lie in my name (v.15). Even though a wicked man rises up and blesses himself seven times daily, the Scripture says It shall not be well with him (Isaiah 3:11; cf. Ecclesiastes 8:13). Making positive confessions or claiming promises and prophecies does not remove the wrath of God from the life of an unrepentant evil doer. What can make God to change His documented judgment is total repentance and obedience to His word. PRAYER: Dear Father, give unto your Church a heart that turns at your rebuke and help her not to be deceived by false promises of peace. Credits : Daily Fountain Devotional 1 Like |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF FRIDAY, OCTOBER 11, 2019 THEME: KNOWING TRUE AND FALSE PROPHETS/PROPHECIES BIBLE TEXT: JEREMIAH 28:1-9 1. And it happened in the same year, at the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the fourth year and in the fifth month, that Hananiah the son of Azur the prophet, who was from Gibeon, spoke to me in the house of the Lord in the presence of the priests and of all the people, saying, 2. “Thus speaks the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, saying: ‘I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon. 3. Within two full years I will bring back to this place all the vessels of the Lord ’s house, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took away from this place and carried to Babylon. 4. And I will bring back to this place Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, with all the captives of Judah who went to Babylon,’ says the Lord , ‘for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.’ ” 5. Then the prophet Jeremiah spoke to the prophet Hananiah in the presence of the priests and in the presence of all the people who stood in the house of the Lord , 6. and the prophet Jeremiah said, “Amen! The Lord do so; the Lord perform your words which you have prophesied, to bring back the vessels of the Lord ’s house and all who were carried away captive, from Babylon to this place. 7. Nevertheless hear now this word that I speak in your hearing and in the hearing of all the people: 8. The prophets who have been before me and before you of old prophesied against many countries and great kingdoms—of war and disaster and pestilence. 9. As for the prophet who prophesies of peace, when the word of the prophet comes to pass, the prophet will be known as one whom the Lord has truly sent.” Jeremiah 28:1-9 NKJV GUIDE TEXT Our text today shows the test of a true/false prophets and prophecies. Earlier in Deuteronomy18:22, fulfillment of a prophecy is enough to authenticate the prophet. In Isaiah 8:20, agreement with the word of God is seen as the proof of a prophecy. In Jeremiah 28:8,9, the contents of the prophecy is seen as another proof. While constant prophecy of doom cannot always be taken as a message from God, we must also realize that prophesying peace, prosperity and well-being to an unrepentant sinner is unscriptural and this was the issue between Prophet Hananiah, son of Azur (Jeremiah 28:1) and Jeremiah. While Jeremiah was warning the people to repent and enjoy the grace, mercy and blessings of God, Hananiah was prophesying peace and restoration without genuine repentance. How Scriptural is this? It is high time we went back to the Scripture, both as individuals and as a Church, in order to know Gods mind so as not to be misled by the prophets and prophecies which litter the landscape of Christianity today. PRAYER: Open the eyes of your Church, dear Lord, and deliver her from the Spirit of the end time in Jesus name. Credits : Daily Fountain Devotional |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF SATURDAY, OCTOBER 12, 2019 THEME: A WORD OF CAUTION BIBLE TEXT: JEREMIAH 28:10-17 10. Then Hananiah the prophet took the yoke off the prophet Jeremiah’s neck and broke it. 11. And Hananiah spoke in the presence of all the people, saying, “Thus says the Lord : ‘Even so I will break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon from the neck of all nations within the space of two full years.’ ” And the prophet Jeremiah went his way. 12. Now the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, after Hananiah the prophet had broken the yoke from the neck of the prophet Jeremiah, saying, 13. “Go and tell Hananiah, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord : “You have broken the yokes of wood, but you have made in their place yokes of iron. 14. ” For thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: “I have put a yoke of iron on the neck of all these nations, that they may serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and they shall serve him. I have given him the beasts of the field also.” ’ ” 15. Then the prophet Jeremiah said to Hananiah the prophet, “Hear now, Hananiah, the Lord has not sent you, but you make this people trust in a lie. 16. Therefore thus says the Lord : ‘Behold, I will cast you from the face of the earth. This year you shall die, because you have taught rebellion against the Lord .’ ” 17. So Hananiah the prophet died the same year in the seventh month. Jeremiah 28:10-17 NKJV GUIDE TEXT Todays reading is both for warning and encouragement. That some people oppose the true preaching of the gospel is not a new phenomenon. Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses (2 Timothy 3:; Korahs company (Numbers 16:1-3, 19-33); Bar-Jesus withstood Paul (Acts 13:6-11). These all paid for opposing Gods word and his servants. Hananiah opposed Jeremiah, gave a false prophecy and broke the wooden yoke on his neck. No doubt, the people would have applauded him and possibly mocked Jeremiah who went away without saying a word. God however fought back in order to protect His name and honour His word because within two months, Hananiah died. As a user of this devotional, is Gods message that you are preaching being opposed like that of Jeremiah? Remain calm and leave God to defend His name and His word. Are you in the camp of Hananiah? Do you never see or hear anything good in Gods word being preached by your Pastor or others but will always be in opposition? Desist from it today before it is too late. PRAYER: Heavenly Father, grant, we beseech thee, repentant hearts to all those who oppose your word and encourage your faithful preacher by confirming your word. Credits : Daily Fountain Devotional |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF SUNDAY, OCTOBER 13, 2019 (Trinity 17) *THEME: JOY UNSPEAKABLE!* BIBLE TEXT: 2CORINTHIANS 5:1-7 1. For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2. For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven, 3. if indeed, having been clothed, we shall not be found naked. 4. For we who are in this tent groan, being burdened, not because we want to be unclothed, but further clothed, that mortality may be swallowed up by life. 5. Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. 6. So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. 7. For we walk by faith, not by sight. II Corinthians 5:1-7 NKJV GUIDE TEXT If there is anything that should be comforting to believers, it is the fact that this world is not our home. Paul, in today's reading wrote to the Corinthian believers, that their present existence on earth is a life of groaning. This might not be unconnected with the fact of the painful experiences they were daily going through. Globally today, things have not changed although it seems to be worse in developing countries than among the developed societies. Unprovoked killings, especially of believers, a business environment that is not friendly for believers and even the Church that is supposed to be a place of refuge, has in fact become slaughter slab where godliness and righteousness are mortgaged. All these, no doubt, is enough to weary any believer with a right standing with God. We however have an assurance that we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavensdesiring to be clothed with our house which is in heaven (2 Corinthians 5:1,2). This assurance of a blissful future is however not for all but for those who have been redeemed by the Lord Jesus (John1:11,12). Are you in the number? To be part of this team, confess your sins today, repent of them and accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. Thought: Are you in the number saved by grace? PRAYER: Heavenly Father, please save my soul and keep me saved till the end. HAPPY SUNDAY Credits : Daily Fountain Devotional |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF MONDAY, OCTOBER 14, 2019 THEME: OUR BASIC CHRISTIAN DUTY BIBLE TEXT: JEREMIAH 29:1-9 1. Now these are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem to the remainder of the elders who were carried away captive—to the priests, the prophets, and all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon. 2. (This happened after Jeconiah the king, the queen mother, the eunuchs, the princes of Judah and Jerusalem, the craftsmen, and the smiths had departed from Jerusalem.) 3. The letter was sent by the hand of Elasah the son of Shaphan, and Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent to Babylon, to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, saying, 4. Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, to all who were carried away captive, whom I have caused to be carried away from Jerusalem to Babylon: 5. Build houses and dwell in them; plant gardens and eat their fruit. 6. Take wives and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons and give your daughters to husbands, so that they may bear sons and daughters—that you may be increased there, and not diminished. 7. And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the Lord for it; for in its peace you will have peace. 8. For thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Do not let your prophets and your diviners who are in your midst deceive you, nor listen to your dreams which you cause to be dreamed. 9. For they prophesy falsely to you in My name; I have not sent them, says the Lord . JEREMIAH 29:1-9 NKJV GUIDE TEXT And work for the peace and prosperity of the city where I sent you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, for its welfare will determine your welfare (Jeremiah 29:7; NLT). This was the basic advice of Jeremiah to the captives in Babylon. They had been under the deceitful prophecy of the false prophets with them in their land of captivity that the captivity would soon be over. God moved Jeremiah to encourage them to settle down and be prepared for a long stay. While doing this however, they should keep praying for the peace, prosperity and welfare of the land where they lived. What an irony of life! As believers, though we are on the earth, we are not of the earth. This however does not mean that we should stand aloof and become unconcerned with what goes on in our society. It is true that our commonwealth is in heaven (Philippians 3:20), yet we should realize that we have an obligation to this present society. We are expected to seek its peace, prosperity and welfare through prayer (1 Timothy 2:4), performance of our civic duties like paying taxes etc., (Psalm 13:1-7), witnessing for Christ (Matthew 28:18-20) etc. While doing all these, we should be careful to maintain our Christian testimonies as Daniel and the three Hebrew children did in the land of Babylon. PRAYER: Help us, dear Lord, to discharge our duties to our world as we witness for you through our service to you and humanly. Credits : Daily Fountain Devotional |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF TUESDAY, OCTOBER 15, 2019 THEME: IT HAS AN END! BIBLE TEXT: JEREMIAH 29:10-23 10. For thus says the Lord : After seventy years are completed at Babylon, I will visit you and perform My good word toward you, and cause you to return to this place. 11. For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord , thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. 14. I will be found by you, says the Lord , and I will bring you back from your captivity; I will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, says the Lord , and I will bring you to the place from which I cause you to be carried away captive. 15. Because you have said, “The Lord has raised up prophets for us in Babylon”— 16. therefore thus says the Lord concerning the king who sits on the throne of David, concerning all the people who dwell in this city, and concerning your brethren who have not gone out with you into captivity— 17. thus says the Lord of hosts: Behold, I will send on them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, and will make them like rotten figs that cannot be eaten, they are so bad. 18. And I will pursue them with the sword, with famine, and with pestilence; and I will deliver them to trouble among all the kingdoms of the earth—to be a curse, an astonishment, a hissing, and a reproach among all the nations where I have driven them, 19. because they have not heeded My words, says the Lord , which I sent to them by My servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them; neither would you heed, says the Lord . 20. Therefore hear the word of the Lord , all you of the captivity, whom I have sent from Jerusalem to Babylon. 21. Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning Ahab the son of Kolaiah, and Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, who prophesy a lie to you in My name: Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and he shall slay them before your eyes. 22. And because of them a curse shall be taken up by all the captivity of Judah who are in Babylon, saying, “The Lord make you like Zedekiah and Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire”; 23. because they have done disgraceful things in Israel, have committed adultery with their neighbors’ wives, and have spoken lying words in My name, which I have not commanded them. Indeed I know, and am a witness, says the Lord . Jeremiah 29:10-23 NKJV GUIDE TEXT Nothing lasts forever, except life in eternity. Todays passage gave respite to the captives in Babylon that their captivity was not for life. It would only last for seventy years! Although this seemed to be a lengthy period but it was very certain that it would surely come to an end and of course, it did, thanks to the intercessory prayer of Daniel (Daniel 9:1-3) after which God stirred up the heart of Cyrus to proclaim the liberation of the captives (Ezra1:1-3). Without doubt, the captivity was used by God to teach the people of Judah a lesson (Jeremiah 29:11-14) which of course they learnt as they never again got involved in the sins that led them to the captivity. God is saying to a user of this devotional today that the challenges and captivity” you are presently going through is not for life. It has an end. What God is only demanding from you is PATIENCE (James 1:2-4; Hebrew 10:35-39). God might have allowed what you are going through now to come your way in order to bring the best out of you. Always remember that for gold to become what it is, it has to go through the furnace at a very high temperature. Look unto God, what you are going through now will produce in you a strong Christian character and testimony. PRAYER: Keep me true to you dear Lord and see me through the present challenging situations I am going through in Jesus Name. Credits : Daily Fountain Devotional |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 16, 2019 THEME: WATCH OUT FOR FALSE PROPHETS BIBLE TEXT: JEREMIAH 29:24-32 24. You shall also speak to Shemaiah the Nehelamite, saying, 25. Thus speaks the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, saying: You have sent letters in your name to all the people who are at Jerusalem, to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, and to all the priests, saying, 26. “The Lord has made you priest instead of Jehoiada the priest, so that there should be officers in the house of the Lord over every man who is demented and considers himself a prophet, that you should put him in prison and in the stocks. 27. Now therefore, why have you not rebuked Jeremiah of Anathoth who makes himself a prophet to you? 28. For he has sent to us in Babylon, saying, ‘This captivity is long; build houses and dwell in them, and plant gardens and eat their fruit.’ ” 29. Now Zephaniah the priest read this letter in the hearing of Jeremiah the prophet. 30. Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying: 31. Send to all those in captivity, saying, Thus says the Lord concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite: Because Shemaiah has prophesied to you, and I have not sent him, and he has caused you to trust in a lie— 32. therefore thus says the Lord : Behold, I will punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite and his family: he shall not have anyone to dwell among this people, nor shall he see the good that I will do for My people, says the Lord , because he has taught rebellion against the Lord . Jeremiah 29:24-32 NKJV GUIDE TEXT False prophets have always been there. Jeremiah, a prophet of God, found himself in the midst of false prophets, one of whom is Shemaiah the Nehelamite (v.24). The message of Jeremiah to the exiles in Babylon was that: It will be a long time. Therefore build houses and settle down; plant gardens and eat what they produce” (v.28). Although Jeremiah spoke as God gave him utterance, the message did not go down well with the people because it did not offer them hope for a quick return. This is where false prophets like Shemaiah come in to falsely assure the people of what they want to hear - imminent return to Jerusalem, when the Lord had not spoken. A prophet of God will not tell you that you will never encounter difficulties, but rather would let you know that because the Lord is with you, when you pass through the waters/rivers/fire, no harm will befall you (cf Isaiah 43:2). This is unlike the false prophets who will make you believe that God does not take interest in allowing His children go through trouble. Beloved, we must watch out when we are faced with lifes challenges so that we do not become easy prey for false prophets. We can easily be lured by them when we are looking for a quick solution. Jesus Christ has to warn in this regard: "Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves” (Matthew 7:15). PRAYER: Dear Father, help me that I may never be a victim of false prophets in Jesus name. Amen. Credits : Daily Fountain Devotional |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF THURSDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2019 THEME: DO NOT REJECT DISCIPLINE BIBLE TEXT: JEREMIAH 30:1-11 1. The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord , saying, 2. “Thus speaks the Lord God of Israel, saying: ‘Write in a book for yourself all the words that I have spoken to you. 3. For behold, the days are coming,’ says the Lord , ‘that I will bring back from captivity My people Israel and Judah,’ says the Lord . ‘And I will cause them to return to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall possess it.’ ” 4. Now these are the words that the Lord spoke concerning Israel and Judah. 5. “For thus says the Lord : ‘We have heard a voice of trembling, Of fear, and not of peace. 6. Ask now, and see, Whether a man is ever in labor with child? So why do I see every man with his hands on his loins Like a woman in labor, And all faces turned pale? 7. Alas! For that day is great, So that none is like it; And it is the time of Jacob’s trouble, But he shall be saved out of it. 8. ‘For it shall come to pass in that day,’ Says the Lord of hosts, ‘ That I will break his yoke from your neck, And will burst your bonds; Foreigners shall no more enslave them. 9. But they shall serve the Lord their God, And David their king, Whom I will raise up for them. 10. ‘Therefore do not fear, O My servant Jacob,’ says the Lord , ‘Nor be dismayed, O Israel; For behold, I will save you from afar, And your seed from the land of their captivity. Jacob shall return, have rest and be quiet, And no one shall make him afraid. 11. For I am with you,’ says the Lord , ‘to save you; Though I make a full end of all nations where I have scattered you, Yet I will not make a complete end of you. But I will correct you in justice, And will not let you go altogether unpunished.’ Jeremiah 30:1-11 NKJV GUIDE TEXT Our passage of today talks about restoration that will come the way of the people of God - Israel and Judah. God had to allow their enemies to overpower and enslave them. This measure which was borne out of love for His people was taken by God to punish and correct them for their iniquities. Amos 3:2 reads, “You only have I known of all the families of the earth: therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.” Indeed, God will never overlook our wrongs as we read from Habakkuk 1:13 Your eyes are too pure to look on evil; you cannot tolerate wrongdoing. A careful look at the passage reveals that the manner God goes about punishing His children, is quite different from the way He punishes unbelievers. While the unbelieving nations are completely destroyed for their sins, Gods children are only judged and fairly disciplined (v.11). When God disciplines His children, it is with the hope of producing a harvest of righteousness and peace (cf Hebrews 12:11). Since the discipline of God is unto a good end, we are warned to take seriously Gods discipline and not lose heart when we are rebuked (cf Hebrews 12:5). If we do not take to corrections, then we will be in danger of being given over to a depraved mind to continue to do wrong until we are destroyed (cf Romans 1:28). PRAYER: Heavenly Father, help me surrender to Your discipline always in Jesus Name. Amen. Credits: Daily Fountain Devotional |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF FRIDAY, OCTOBER 18, 2019 (St. Luke the Physician and Evangelist) THEME: LUKE A WORTHY PHYSICIAN AND EVANGELIST BIBLE TEXT: LUKE 10:1-9 1. After these things the Lord appointed seventy others also, and sent them two by two before His face into every city and place where He Himself was about to go. 2. Then He said to them, “The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. 3. Go your way; behold, I send you out as lambs among wolves. 4. Carry neither money bag, knapsack, nor sandals; and greet no one along the road. 5. But whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’ 6. And if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest on it; if not, it will return to you. 7. And remain in the same house, eating and drinking such things as they give, for the laborer is worthy of his wages. Do not go from house to house. 8. Whatever city you enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you. 9. And heal the sick there, and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’ Luke 10:1-9 NKJV GUIDE TEXT Today is set apart in the Lectionary to commemorate St. Luke the Physician and Evangelist. St. Luke is believed to be the author of The Gospel According to Luke, and The Acts of the Apostles. Luke was devoted to what was good and productive. He was not a Jew but a Gentile (Colossians 4:11; cf 4:14). Moreover, he was not an eyewitness and minister of the Word from the beginning (Luke 1:2). Notwithstanding his background, the contributions he made in the spread of the gospel surpass that which some Jews and earlier disciples of Christ made. Similarly, it does not matter what our background was before coming to Christ, all that the Lord is looking out for is for us to be willing so that He can supply the power. We need to note that Luke was Pauls fellow worker’ (Philemon v.24) who remained faithful while others deserted him (2 Timothy 4:10-11). Let us learn from Luke that we must remain faithful to the cause of the gospel in this depraved world. Luke records this command by Jesus to His disciples: Heal the sick who are there and tell them, The kingdom of God is near you” (Luke 10:9). Indeed, Luke the Evangelist, in obeying this command, wrote the 2 books which bear the good news that can heal the broken hearted and bind up wounds” (Psalm 147:3); strengthen the weak and make bold those who are afraid (Isaiah 35:3ff). Likewise, we must see the Gospel as medicine that could cure souls, and join in the spread of it to bring the perishing into the kingdom of God. PRAYER: Dear Father, grant that I may be devoted to what is good and live a productive life in Jesus Name. Amen. Credits : Daily Fountain Devotional |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF SATURDAY, OCTOBER 19, 2019 THEME: SIN IS A DEADLY DISEASE BIBLE TEXT: JEREMIAH 30:12-24 12. “For thus says the Lord : ‘Your affliction is incurable, Your wound is severe. 13. There is no one to plead your cause, That you may be bound up; You have no healing medicines. 14. All your lovers have forgotten you; They do not seek you; For I have wounded you with the wound of an enemy, With the chastisement of a cruel one, For the multitude of your iniquities, Because your sins have increased. 15. Why do you cry about your affliction? Your sorrow is incurable. Because of the multitude of your iniquities, Because your sins have increased, I have done these things to you. 16. ‘Therefore all those who devour you shall be devoured; And all your adversaries, every one of them, shall go into captivity; Those who plunder you shall become plunder, And all who prey upon you I will make a prey. 17. For I will restore health to you And heal you of your wounds,’ says the Lord , ‘Because they called you an outcast saying: “This is Zion; No one seeks her.” ’ 18. “Thus says the Lord : ‘Behold, I will bring back the captivity of Jacob’s tents, And have mercy on his dwelling places; The city shall be built upon its own mound, And the palace shall remain according to its own plan. 19. Then out of them shall proceed thanksgiving And the voice of those who make merry; I will multiply them, and they shall not diminish; I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small. 20. Their children also shall be as before, And their congregation shall be established before Me; And I will punish all who oppress them. 21. Their nobles shall be from among them, And their governor shall come from their midst; Then I will cause him to draw near, And he shall approach Me; For who is this who pledged his heart to approach Me?’ says the Lord . 22. ‘You shall be My people, And I will be your God.’ 23. ” Behold, the whirlwind of the Lord Goes forth with fury, A continuing whirlwind; It will fall violently on the head of the wicked. 24. The fierce anger of the Lord will not return until He has done it, And until He has performed the intents of His heart. In the latter days you will consider it. JEREMIAH 30:12-24 NKJV GUIDE TEXT Verses 12 to 13 of today's passage read thus, Your affliction is incurable...You have no healing medicines. Verse 14 tells us sin is the cause of the incurable affliction: For I have wounded you...For the multitude of your iniquities, because your sins have increased.” Indeed, sin is a deadly disease! None of us wants to be diagnosed of a deadly disease. Whenever we fall sick and are not sure of the cause, we become apprehensive while we await the medical report. We are happy when we find out that the sickness is curable. But when the result is the contrary, the battle to stay alive begins that moment. When medical treatment fails, we turn to God for spiritual healing. In some of such hopeless cases, divine healing takes place, as we read of the woman with the issue of blood (Mark 5:25-34). Beloved, it is true that we are afraid to contract a terminal illness because it leads to physical death, but we should be more afraid to commit sin because it can lead to both physical and spiritual illness/death (Romans 6:23 cf Ezekiel 18:4; Psalm 32:1-5). Only the Lord has the cure for all terminal illnesses, physical or spiritual (v.17cf 1Peter 2:24). Come to Him now! PRAYER: Heavenly Father, deliver me from the guilt and power of sin in Jesus name. Amen. Credits : Daily Fountain Devotional |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF SUNDAY, OCTOBER 20, 2019 (TRINITY 18) THEME: DISOBEDIENCE IS DANGEROUS BIBLE TEXT: MATTHEW 21:28-32 28. “But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first and said, ‘Son, go, work today in my vineyard.’ 29. He answered and said, ‘I will not,’ but afterward he regretted it and went. 30. Then he came to the second and said likewise. And he answered and said, ‘I go, sir,’ but he did not go. 31. Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said to Him, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you that tax collectors and harlots enter the kingdom of God before you. 32. For John came to you in the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him; but tax collectors and harlots believed him; and when you saw it, you did not afterward relent and believe him. MATTHEW 21:28-32 NKJV GUIDE TEXT No parent will be happy with a child who chooses to be disobedient. Similarly, God our Father is never pleased with us when we choose not to obey Him. As we find in the passage read, the first son who changed his mind represents those who once were disobedient, but with time become obedient. The Lord is pleased with such obedient people. The other son represents pretenders who claim to be obedient but are not. The Lord is not pleased with such people. We read in 1 Samuel 15:22, To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.” We must understand that nothing can take the place of obedience, be it the time, talent and treasure we sacrifice in the course of worshiping God. King Saul disobeyed God and thought the sacrifice of ram would make up for it, but got the rebuke of his life which ultimately led to his rejection as king. No amount of attendance at Church services, prayer meetings, or Bible reading can compensate for the sin of deliberate, continued disobedience. May we also learn from Samson who as a result of disobedience ...did not know that the LORD had left him” (Judges 16:20). The consequence of this was that since Samson did not know the Lord had left him, he was not conscious of the fact that he needed to repent of his sins, and because he did not repent, he was suddenly destroyed. Indeed, disobedience is dangerous! PRAYER: Lord God, reveal to me any areas of my life where I have been continually disobedient. I repent of them in Jesus Name. Amen. DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF MONDAY, OCTOBER 21, 2019 THEME: BLESSED ASSURANCE BIBLE TEXT: JEREMIAH 31:1-14 1. “At the same time,” says the Lord , “I will be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be My people.” 2. Thus says the Lord : “The people who survived the sword Found grace in the wilderness— Israel, when I went to give him rest.” 3. The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying: “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you. 4. Again I will build you, and you shall be rebuilt, O virgin of Israel! You shall again be adorned with your tambourines, And shall go forth in the dances of those who rejoice. 5. You shall yet plant vines on the mountains of Samaria; The planters shall plant and eat them as ordinary food. 6. For there shall be a day When the watchmen will cry on Mount Ephraim, ‘Arise, and let us go up to Zion, To the Lord our God.’ ” 7. For thus says the Lord : “Sing with gladness for Jacob, And shout among the chief of the nations; Proclaim, give praise, and say, ‘O Lord , save Your people, The remnant of Israel!’ 8. Behold, I will bring them from the north country, And gather them from the ends of the earth, Among them the blind and the lame, The woman with child And the one who labors with child, together; A great throng shall return there. 9. They shall come with weeping, And with supplications I will lead them. I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters, In a straight way in which they shall not stumble; For I am a Father to Israel, And Ephraim is My firstborn. 10. “Hear the word of the Lord , O nations, And declare it in the isles afar off, and say, ‘He who scattered Israel will gather him, And keep him as a shepherd does his flock.’ 11. For the Lord has redeemed Jacob, And ransomed him from the hand of one stronger than he. 12. Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, Streaming to the goodness of the Lord — For wheat and new wine and oil, For the young of the flock and the herd; Their souls shall be like a well-watered garden, And they shall sorrow no more at all. 13. “Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, And the young men and the old, together; For I will turn their mourning to joy, Will comfort them, And make them rejoice rather than sorrow. 14. I will satiate the soul of the priests with abundance, And My people shall be satisfied with My goodness, says the Lord .” JEREMIAH 31:1-14 NKJV GUIDE TEXT The passage is full of assurances from God to His people. Here, God assures all the families and tribes of Israel that though their present state was that of enslavement by foreigners, those who put their trust in Him would be rebuilt and dance with joy (v.4). They would again be able to plant and enjoy the fruit of their labour (v.5). As these blessings pour down from the Lord, they will acknowledge God as the One who has blessed them and go to worship Him in Zion (v.6). It is still words of assurances we find in verses 7-14. They would be restored from all over the earth to their land (vs.8-11); they would lack nothing like a well-watered garden, having joy all the way (vs.12-14). Beloved in Christ, God never raises our hope and dashes it to the ground. After many years that God gave these assurances to His children that they would be gathered from all over the earth, Israel became a nation on May 14, 1948. It does not matter how long it takes, whatever God promises will surely come to pass. Jesus says, Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away” (Mark 13:31). God who made these promises to the families of Israel and brought them to pass has not changed and will never change (cf Hebrews 13:. Look beyond the troubles you may be having right now and put your trust in the Lord, holding on to the blessed assurances in His word. He will surely bring them to pass. PRAYER: Dear Father, let all Your promises concerning my life come to pass. You who raise the hope of Your children and never dash it, raise my hope in Jesus name! DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF TUESDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2019 THEME: CALL TO REPENTANCE BIBLE TEXT: JEREMIAH 31:15-26 15. Thus says the Lord : “A voice was heard in Ramah, Lamentation and bitter weeping, Rachel weeping for her children, Refusing to be comforted for her children, Because they are no more.” 16. Thus says the Lord : “Refrain your voice from weeping, And your eyes from tears; For your work shall be rewarded, says the Lord , And they shall come back from the land of the enemy. 17. There is hope in your future, says the Lord , That your children shall come back to their own border. 18. “I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself: ‘You have chastised me, and I was chastised, Like an untrained bull; Restore me, and I will return, For You are the Lord my God. 19. Surely, after my turning, I repented; And after I was instructed, I struck myself on the thigh; I was ashamed, yes, even humiliated, Because I bore the reproach of my youth.’ 20. Is Ephraim My dear son? Is he a pleasant child? For though I spoke against him, I earnestly remember him still; Therefore My heart yearns for him; I will surely have mercy on him, says the Lord . 21. “Set up signposts, Make landmarks; Set your heart toward the highway, The way in which you went. Turn back, O virgin of Israel, Turn back to these your cities. 22. How long will you gad about, O you backsliding daughter? For the Lord has created a new thing in the earth— A woman shall encompass a man.” 23. Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: “They shall again use this speech in the land of Judah and in its cities, when I bring back their captivity: ‘The Lord bless you, O home of justice, and mountain of holiness!’ 24. And there shall dwell in Judah itself, and in all its cities together, farmers and those going out with flocks. 25. For I have satiated the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul.” 26. After this I awoke and looked around, and my sleep was sweet to me. JEREMIAH 31:15-26 NKJV GUIDE TEXT The Lord passionately calls on His children (Ephraim) to repent of their sins and return to Him. God caused them to weep and mourn as a result of their sins (v.15). While His children (Ephraim) are in tears and pain, Gods expectation of them is that they should acknowledge that they have been like an unruly calf for which they have been disciplined, be ashamed and repent in tears to be restored (vs.18-19). This is Gods expectation of us whenever we fall into sin. We must bow our heads in shame like the publican/tax collector who could not look up to heaven (Luke 18:13). In other words, we must know the sin(s) we are repenting of, and specifically mention it (them) to the Lord. We must not hide under the cover of the General Confession in our divine services without our hearts going to specific sin(s) to confess before God. While we remain in sin, we are in captivity and it is Gods desire we do not stay there long but be brought back so that we can be a blessed people (vs.22-24). Why should we remain in captivity of sin when the Lord wants to set us free? It is for this reason He sent His only begotten Son into the world (John 3:16). He assures us that when we come to Him with our multitude of sins, He will not drive us away (John 6:37). We are warned to seek the LORD while he may be found, and call upon him while he is near (Isaiah 55:6). PRAYER: Dear Father, grant that I will ever take Your call to repentance seriously in Jesus Name. Amen. Credits : Daily Fountain Devotional |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 23, 2019 THEME: ST. JAMES THE BROTHER OF JESUS BIBLE TEXT: MATTHEW 13:53-58 53. Now it came to pass, when Jesus had finished these parables, that He departed from there. 54. When He had come to His own country, He taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished and said, “Where did this Man get this wisdom and these mighty works? 55. Is this not the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary? And His brothers James, Joses, Simon, and Judas? 56. And His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this Man get all these things?” 57. So they were offended at Him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country and in his own house.” 58. Now He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief. MATTHEW 13:53-58 NKJV GUIDE TEXT Most people are used to the expression, familiarity breeds contempt. We read from the Gospel accounts that Jesus preached and taught and did many wonders throughout Judea and beyond and His fame resounded everywhere as many sought to hear him, see him, and experience him. But back in his hometown, Nazareth, it was a different story. He had been brought up there and many knew his humble family and social background. There was nothing excellent or extraordinary about his family and upbringing. But when he spoke, there was something superior about him the power, the wisdom and the grace. Unfortunately, this virtue in him elicited nothing but scorn and hatred from his people. They had become so familiar with him that they had no respect and appreciation for him and his ministry. But they were the losers because the word they heard and the miracles he did, did not meet with faith in their hearts. Today, so many people who have been raised in the Christian environment: Church-goers, theologians, and so on, have become so familiar with the Bible and its stories that its meanings and power have been lost to them. They claim to be born again, but the word of God has not been allowed to change their lives. They have heard a good number of sermons preached about Jesus power to save, heal and deliver, yet, a lot of contending interests have not allowed them to come to Jesus and be saved. It is interesting that James, the brother of Jesus (whom we celebrate today) did not allow his familiarity with the Master to prevent him from knowing his Brother Jesus as his Saviour and Lord. Dear reader, what about you? PRAYER: Dear Lord, grant that my familiarity with your word and your name will be an added factor that draws me ever closer to you, Amen. DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF THURSDAY, OCTOBER 24, 2019 THEME: RECALLED AND RESTORED BIBLE TEXT: JEREMIAH 31:27-34 27. “Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord , that I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man and the seed of beast. 28. And it shall come to pass, that as I have watched over them to pluck up, to break down, to throw down, to destroy, and to afflict, so I will watch over them to build and to plant, says the Lord . 29. In those days they shall say no more: ‘The fathers have eaten sour grapes, And the children’s teeth are set on edge.’ 30. But every one shall die for his own iniquity; every man who eats the sour grapes, his teeth shall be set on edge. 31. “Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord , when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah— 32. not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them, says the Lord . 33. But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord : I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 34. No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord ,’ for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the Lord . For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.” JEREMIAH 31:27-34 NKJV GUIDE TEXT God had spoken to the Prophet Jeremiah and had revealed to him what was going to be the restored fortune of apostate Israel. Israel had gone into exile as a punishment for forsaking the worship of the One True God, Jehovah, in preference for the pagan gods. But the Lord, seeing their afflictions in foreign lands, would have pity on them. And even though they had broken the covenant by which they had been made His chosen people, God would see to it that they were restored to Him, this time, under a new and better covenant agreement which would guarantee a personal relationship with, and accountability to, God. Under this new covenant: The people of God who would come to Him would experience true prosperity. This is because many from other nations would see how good their God would be to them, and they too would come to Him. This new covenant is by far superior to the old, and mirrors much more the heavenly and the spiritual. The Lord would give them pardon and peace; and a new enablement to know and love Him. This is the hearts circumcision. They would receive the grace to live for Him. This truth, however, is for the future Gospel Church when the new covenant grace would be consummated. Gods people would know Him and by their personal relationship with Him, He will reveal Himself to them. Gods promise to you is that no matter how far you have gone away from Him, He loves you and will bring you back to Himself. Will you now turn away from every sin or habit that creates a barrier between you and Him? He will take you in. PRAYER: Dear loving Father, I come to you from the wilderness of sin. Receive me by your mercy, in Jesus name, Amen. Credits : Daily Fountain Devotional |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF FRIDAY, OCTOBER 25, 2019 GODS WORD IS IRREVOCABLE! BIBLE TEXT: JEREMIAH 31:35-40 35. Thus says the Lord , Who gives the sun for a light by day, The ordinances of the moon and the stars for a light by night, Who disturbs the sea, And its waves roar (The Lord of hosts is His name): 36. “If those ordinances depart From before Me, says the Lord , Then the seed of Israel shall also cease From being a nation before Me forever.” 37. Thus says the Lord : “If heaven above can be measured, And the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel For all that they have done, says the Lord . 38. “Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord , that the city shall be built for the Lord from the Tower of Hananel to the Corner Gate. 39. The surveyor’s line shall again extend straight forward over the hill Gareb; then it shall turn toward Goath. 40. And the whole valley of the dead bodies and of the ashes, and all the fields as far as the Brook Kidron, to the corner of the Horse Gate toward the east, shall be holy to the Lord . It shall not be plucked up or thrown down anymore forever.” Jeremiah 31:35-40 NKJV GUIDE TEXT God is not a man that He should lieif He said it, He will do it (Numbers 23:19). The New Covenant is symbolized by the creation of a New heart in man on which Gods law shall be written indelibly - not on a stone which is insensitive to the weaknesses of man and therefore cannot save him. All that the old covenant (The law) could do was to constantly remind man of the power of sin. Jesus Christ is the initiator of the New covenant which is borne out of His love. All those who come to Him by faith in His precious blood, come under the canopy of His love, and nothing shall ever snatch them away from His hands - eternal security in Christ Jesus. Could there ever be a greater blessing? The Church, the product of Jesus Christs redemptive sacrifice on the cross, is the Temple which is sure to abide, whatever the circumstances of life may be. And those who run into it will abide in eternal security (Proverbs 18:10; Matthew 16:18). Dear reader, are you securely established in this Temple? If you are, you can be sure that no power of hell can snatch you away. If not, you have a chance right now to make your life right with God through Jesus Christ. PRAYER: Lord Jesus, I make] my Saviour and Lord now. As I run into You today, may I dwell in the peace and rest of your everlasting Kingdom. Amen. Credi: Daily Fountain Devotional |

DAILY FOUNTAIN DEVOTIONAL GUIDE OF SUNDAY, OCTOBER 27, 2019 (TRINITY 19) JESUS CHRIST, THE RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE BIBLE TEXT: JOHN 11:17-27 17. So when Jesus came, He found that he had already been in the tomb four days. 18. Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two miles away. 19. And many of the Jews had joined the women around Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother. 20. Now Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met Him, but Mary was sitting in the house. 21. Now Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died. 22. But even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You.” 23. Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” 24. Martha said to Him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” 25. Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” 27. She said to Him, “Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.” JOHN 11:17-27 NKJV GUIDE TEXT Faithful Christians who trust in the Lord often find that they pass through some difficult experiences in life which may look like a contradiction of what they know of the compassionate character of Jesus Christ. The centurion in Matthew 8:5-13 made a simple request of Jesus who simply spoke the word from afar and the soldiers servant was healed at that instant. The Syro-Phoenician woman (Matthew 9:20-22) simply touched the hem of Jesus garment and her blood-flow stopped immediately. But when Lazarus, Jesus own friend was sick and a message was sent to the Master, He deliberately delayed until Lazarus had been dead for 4 days. This He did to reveal to Mary and Martha that He is the Resurrection and the Life. The Jews had known Jesus Christ as the man who opened the eyes of the blind and healed the sick - keeping them from dying. Mary and her sister knew the resurrection at the last day (v.24). Lazarus was raised from the dead, Halleluiah! But it took this event for the two sisters to know that the resurrection was not just a future event. The Man that they had played host to, the Teacher, was actually the Resurrection personified. Beloved, some of the ardent prayers you have made that seem not to have received any answers, may be the Lords own way of revealing something new about Himself to you as Comforter, the Companion of the lonely, etc. So, whatever you are passing through, prayerfully look through the veil of tears and you will see the message, in Jesus Name. PRAYER: Lord Jesus, when things go wrong and seem to make me think that you are far away, help me to remember that you love me so much as not to abandon me. Amen.
