Atiku Abubakar And The APC Hypocrisy. by mamotalk: 12:52pm On Jan 22, 2019
Atiku Abubakar was the vice President of Nigeria between 1999 and 2007. It is a known fact that during his stay in office, he was in charge of the critical aspect of Nigerian economy. One of such areas was the privatisation programs.
Granted that Atiku was the man in charge of the issue, one will gladly accept that there must be some subordinates to help him in order to carry out the function. One of such assistants is Nadir El-Rufai. In fact Atiku brought El Rufai to PDP led government.
Rufai was the DG of Bureau of Public Enterprises, BPE, the unit solely entrusted with the sale of public utility within that period. Much is not need to be said about how he carried out his job but the fact that such sales was one of the issues that brought friction between OBJ and his vice should not be ignored.
By 2007, the president and his vice parted ways but El-Rufai stayed behind in the PDP. It is even on record that he went on to serve as the minister of FTC during the Ya'ardua regime as well as Jonathan. It is very appropriate to say that Mallam El Rufai served within the sixteen year rule of PDP.
Now, if El Rufai is a saint, one can authoritatively state that Atiku made him to be one and tha he (Atiku) still has capacity to make numerous saints. And if Atiku was bad during his time in office, it can also not be far from truth that El Rufai is one of the bad lieutenats that advised him wrongly.
One other thing I would like to dwell on is the political dwelling place of Atiku after his exit from PDP in 2007. It is a known fact that he was a celebrated politician in the camp of Asiwaju Tinubu. He became the Presidential flag bearer of the Action Congress in 2007. One now begins to wonder how Atiku who was so much revered and adulated by Lai Mohammed as a persecuted fellow now turn to a bad fellow.
