This is not about Justice Walter Onnoghen
This is about the desecration of an hallowed institution
This is about the defeacation on a noble arm of government
This is about the destruction of an institution that is supposed to be the hope of the common man, the oppressed, the cheated, and the downtrodden
This is about the destruction of an institution that makes a society egalitarian, sane and habitable

Nigeria has been on a free fall since the advent of this 3rd republic in 1999
Our values are being continually eroded
Objectivity is being sacrificed on the altar of self interest and aggrandisement
Institutions have been turned into annexe offices of the executive arm of government
Separation of powers only exits on paper

The desecration of the Judicial arm of government has been ongoing
Court orders are constantly treated with disdain
Successive governments pick and choose which court orders to obey
The onslaught against the judiciary took a turn for the worse in 2011 when
Justice Ayo Salami was removed as the President of the Federal Court of Appeal through the National Judicial Commission (NJC) by the then President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan
Though this was not as brazen as the removal of Chief Justice Walter Onnoghen by President Muhammadu Buhari (Jonathan’s successor), but the seed of unceremoniously removing Judges was sown
Now, the incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari has taken it to a new height
This will continue if not resisted

Fellow Nigerians, the time has come for us to arise against this onslaught by the Executive arm against the Judicial arm of government
This is not about APC or PDP or any other party affiliations
This is not about tribe nor is it about religious affiliations
It is about the rule of law
It is about law and order in our nation
It is about doing things in accordance with laid down rules
It is about salvaging our democracy

Had we resisted Dr Jonathan when he removed Justice Ayo Salami, the incumbent Mr Muhammadu Buhari, would not have had the temerity to remove the Chief Justice of the Federation, the head of an another arm of government in a democratic government with checks and balances

Nigeria is bigger than any individual or group of individuals and will outlive everyone.
