Nigeria States From Richest To Poorest (ppp) are fake figures on wikipedia. They no index for measurement. The only index, we can use at the moment would be federal allocation, population. You cant measure rich and poor state in Nigeria. Look bayelsa state is the richest state in Nigeria. To calculate the richest state, what they do is the revenue over population. If you look at bayelsa state they get more than 5 billion a month. But the population of bayelsa state is less populated than Oyo town in Oyo state. This is why people have question those who have rule bayelsa and have nothing to show in bayelsa ,where did this money go. The Per head of bayelsa is 50 times more than lagos state. The per head in bayelsa state is over 8,333 that what the federal govt gives bayelsa state each month for each person that lives in bayelsa. While you compare that to lagos or oyo state which I would say is less than 180 per person in Lagos and oyo state. this is how they measure it. Oyo state is the poorest state in Nigeria 1. Bayelsa 36 Oyo state |

Segun, sometimes you do make sense when you are not talking about your weakness-Igbo. When i saw Wiki's list, i was like what is Lagos doing on that top spot? Definitely must be written by some Lagos gov official. How can Lagos have a higher GDP than the littoral states? Definitely should not be in the top 3. Can you explain why Ebonyi and Gombe are second and third? |

i totally agree with becomerich.bayelsa is by far the richest state in nigeria but probably the least developed.any state coming directly behind it would be well gapped in gdp. |

Abagworo: Not really. Its not the least developed it just has the least GDP. excanny: Lagos can have the highest GDP in Nigeria but not highest GDP per capita |

that population is not valid. I am telling you. people tell lies during census in nigeria. you can count the number of houses in oyo town in ouo state and bayelsa state. Anybody from bayelsa state in canada who doubt it can count it and post it online. we have issue that needs to be resolve. |

even with all of kano state false census, which they claim. they get N397 per person. And this is after make up fake figures. Let assume that is 3 times thier own figure. That still give them N1191 per person. when you compare that to N8333 of bayelsa state. With imo state it comes to N759 per person. Satellite pictures show less people. Let assume they double thier figure. it shows Imo state is getting N1518 per person. So you would see it is the yorubaman who have been silly in this process. It look like we yorubas were not too smart to lie like the rest of them. |

?? oil derivation as a way to measure anything tangible in nigeria? as if the practice isn't 100% politics? oil derivation is the best way to measure where government officials come from, not a states wealth. |

What it boil to to. Is that Edo,delta and Yorubas get less than $1.5 billion into both state and local govt. Using an exchange rate of 140 naira= they get N210 billion each year. Now ask, can Edo, delta and Yorubas do without the federal govt and still do very well. It means for us to be a country we have to show we can generated $1.5 billion. When you look at the satellite pictures, we are more populated than Ghana. And Ghana generate about $5.7 billion. If we generate the same as Ghana. We have 5.7 -1.5= $4.2 billion to run own federal govt. Note that oil in ghana is very small. We can generate more than $10 billion , I know so. |

guy you're talking as if they're not in nigeria. a lot of, and edo's case most, of the money they got from oil went to governors, party affiliates and cronies. it has nothing to do with the wealth of the people. Oil is less then 10% of the nigerian domestic economy and over 90% of it's foreign trade, so oil allocation has nothing to do with wealth. oil also has little to do with wealth anywhere. it feeds those involved in the oil business which are companies that transcend national boarders like BP and Shell. |
