Goshen360:Let's first establish that Sin is the seed of Satan, just like Love is God. If you live in sin, satan has a hold over you, hence you can't command him. A servant cannot command his master. So, I think what Pa Adeboye means is, it takes Spiritual maturity to live a sin free life, then exercise authority over unclean spirits. Again, one may be spiritually mature, as in, over come sin, but lacks Knowledge of who and what these spirits are, how they operate, so needs knowledge and with this knowledge comes Sanctification. Again, when you still meddle and share in the table of demons, you and them are on the same side, automatically, you loose your boldness before them. Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils. 1 Corinthians:10:21. A man who lives in sin is spiritually weak and vulnerable, hence, has no authority to cast demons out. Let's see what The Lord Jesus said ...how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house. Matthew:12:29 What this means is that, for you to cast a demon out of someone, you must be stronger than the demon. And Jesus asked a question in Matth 12:27 'Can satan cast out satan?'. The answer is no. A house divided against itself cannot stand. Sin is the life and nature of satan. If you live in sin, of what power will you cast demons out with? The Power of the Holy Spirit you disobey? Again do you remember the Sons Sceva? They lived in sin yet attempted to cast out demons, what happened? The demons demanded to know their identity and authority to cast them out. Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the LORD Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth. And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye? Acts:19:13, 15 Question is, why will the demons obey Jesus and Paul but not these Men? So, yes, i will go with Papa, that SinlessAgainwhich breeds growth (Faith and courage/boldness), and Knowledge of the Believer's authority puts him in a position to cast out demons |

Anas09, Let's first understand somethings hopefully we agree: Sin as used in scripture is a noun and also a verb meaning, as a nature or as an act. So when you quote a verse you should endeavor to understand what the context is saying. 2. What happened to...."in my name, they shall cast out demons..."? 3. The event in Acts you quoted was actually dealt with in the video....I don't know if you watched the whole video. The verse you quoted explained itself....those people couldn't cast the demon out not because Jesus name wasn't powerful but because THEY HAVE NO RELATIONSHIP WITH THE LORD JESUS 4. The Disciples of Jesus couldn't cast out demons too BECAUSE OF UNBELIEF but they have relationship with Jesus. Jesus said it was unbelieve in them not their sin (act or verb) 5. It is was an issue of sin (act) Adeboye himself will not be qualified to cast out demons and sin (act) is not greater than the finished works of Christ because CHRIST dealt with the sin nature or noun. 1 Like |

Goshen360:Yes agreed that Sin is both an essence or an underlying reality which is a Nature, and also a manifestation, which is an Act. Without a Manifestation of a thing, then that thing is not real. That said, the fact remains that anyone who walks in sin, 'i mean after being redeemed', is exposed to be vulnerable, hence looses his/her position to command satan or demons and be obeyed. Goshen360:Who was the Lord directing this to? The diunbelieve? Those who take his Words with levity or those who live in reverence to His words and ways? My answer will be the later. Everyone around today makes demons and commands demons in the name of Jesus, but how many of them get results? Why is the name of Jesus not working for them? Could it be that their authority is compromised by secrete and unconfessed sins? Goshen360:Aren't you consenting to what Papa said? Can you say a man who disobeys the Word/Teachings of Jesus by taking side with His enemy and adulterating the covenant is in a relationship with Him? Can two walk/work together except they agree? No. A relationship is a covenant, and every covenant has it's terms, and if those terms are flaunted by one party, there'll be a bridge. A sinner or someone who lives in sin is against the Divine Design which is Jesus Himself, hence cannot be in a relationship with Him. So, yes, the Sons of Sceva were sinners who did not have a relationship with the Master, so missed it. Goshen360:In the case of the Disciples two things were involved. 1. Lack of adequate information. 2. Spiritual growth. Point 1. From the response of the Lord when he came, we gather that, demons are in different categories hence we need to know how to handle them. He said 'This kind' goeth not out except by Fasting and Prayers on the part of the Apostles. The question is, 'Which kind' was He talking abt? Probably a Principality who took the host with the permission of the host or a parent. So, the Apostles lack adequate information to the fact that not every demon comes out by just commanding it. Secondly, I talked about knowledge and understanding of the Believer's authority. If a believer knows who he is in Christ, he will know what Jesus did to demons. He will know power has been given to him to dominate and command those foul spirits and they'll obey. In Luke 9:1 we see that the Lord gave his Disciples power over the unclean Spirits and sent them out to preach the gospel and heal the sick and cast the demons out. In chapter 10: 17 this is what happened. And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. Luke:10:17. Why weren't the demons resisting arrest here? Power. Again, pls note that, the case of the Disciples is not the same case with us now. Or, the Disciples before Pentecost were no longer the same after Pentecost. When this happened, the Lord was still bodily present with the Disciples. The Holy Spirit which emboldens had not yet taken residence inside of the Disciples. After Pentecost, did we ever hear of a demon resisting arrest? No, why not? Growth, Power, authority and the Knowledge to apply them. Goshen360:Yes, Christ dealt with the issue of sin. But, if a believer lives in sin, Yes, we can't call him a sinner tho, but wouldn't his spiritual authority be compromised? Can he have the boldness to tell satan to get lost when in his hands he bears the items belonging to his kingdom? And, i also said there are other factors that can keep a believer from casting out demons. But basically its either compromised authority or fear which comes with ignorance. And i hope you know that fear is a sin, and ignorance is not an excuse? |
