The leader of a delegation from the Borno State Ministry of Transportation has applauded the Lagos State government for setting up the foremost traffic radio station in Africa, expressing the desire to replicate the initiative in Maiduguri.

Speaking during a Lagos Traffic Radio programme, “Lunchtime Waka”, Alhaji Yahaya Chibok, a Director in the Ministry of Transportation, Maiduguri praised the broadcast station for providing prompt traffic information to motorists saying, the visit to Lagos was to understudy the traffic and transportation management system of Lagos State.

He said the team had also visited the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and envisaged that the blueprint which set up the relevant transport management agencies in Lagos would be replicated by the Borno State government.

“The need by the Borno State Government to adopt an excellent traffic and transportation system management similar to the Lagos model was necessitated by the increasing population in Borno State”, he said.

While commending the State government for its investment in traffic management initiatives, Alhaji Chibok said motorists within and outside Lagos have attested to the fact that traffic information provided on Lagos Traffic Radio has helped them navigate through traffic with greater ease.

He assured listeners that the initiatives of Lagos in traffic information dissemination and management will be adopted by Borno State in reducing the traffic gridlock in the State and thanked the management of Lagos Traffic Radio for the warm reception accorded the team during the visit.
