President Muhammadu Buhari has reiterated that he will not change his style if given a second term in office.

Regarding insinuations that the President will change and stop working for the masses if reelected, Buhari gave this assurance while campaigning for a second term at the Aper Aku stadium in Makurdi, Benue state.

The President promised that he would continue to remain steadfast and focused.

Fayose Trial Continues Tomorrow

A Federal High Court in Lagos has fixed Thursday, February 7 for the continuation of the trial of the immediate past Governor of Ekiti, Mr Ayodele Fayose, over alleged N6.9 billion fraud.

News Agency of Nigeria reports that the case which was earlier fixed for today (Wednesday) for continuation of cross-examination of the fifth prosecution witness, has been moved to Thursday.

On the next adjourned date, both the prosecutor, Mr Rotimi Jacobs (SAN), and the defence counsel, Mr Olalekan Ojo (SAN), will address the court on the admissibility of an extrajudicial statement made by a party who is not standing trial.

Global Oil Discovery in 2019 Estimated to be 20 Billion Barrels

Global discoveries of conventional oil and gas could jump to 20 billion barrels of oil equivalent this year as an industry-wide recovery in exploration activity continues to ramp up, research group Wood Mackenzie has said.

Indeed, the report noted that southern and western Africa will see resurgence in offshore exploration, as well as other South American countries like Brazil, and Mexico.

Already, President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday, flagged-off the official commencement of crude oil search in the Kolmani Well River-II, located near Barambu, Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State. Buhari also declared that the Federal Government would intensify oil exploration efforts in all frontier basins including Chad Basin, Gongola Basin, Anambra Basin, Sokoto Basin, Dahomey Basin, Bida Basin and Benue Trough.

NUC Grant Provisional Licenses to Four Newly Approved Private Universities

The National Universities Commission (NUC) on Tuesday granted provisional licenses to four newly approved private universities in Nigeria.

The license was presented by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu in Abuja on Tuesday, February 5, 2019.

The beneficiaries are Greenfield University, Kaduna, Kaduna State; Dominion University, Ibadan, Oyo State; Trinity University, Laloko, Ogun State and Westland University, Iwo, Osun State.

Imo Lawmakers Deny Passing Law to Enable Establishment of Islamic University

The Imo State House of Assembly has denied plans to make a law that will enable the establishment of an Islamic university in the state.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, Marcel Ekwezuo gave the denial in a statement to newsmen in Owerri.

According to lawmakers, the bill passed was for the establishment of Chosen University and Bishop Shanahan Polytechnic.
