Nigerian Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti, lost in his first attempt to win a Grammy award after being nominated in the best world music album category. Kuti lost to South Africa’s Soweto Gospel Choir who won their third Grammy award, making them the most successful African group in the award’s history. Femi Kuti, his older brother, has been nominated for the Grammys four times, but failed to win in 2003, 2010, 2012 and in 2014.
