Middlesbrough fans used every good word to describe how good their January signing, John Mikel Obi has been especially in the Saturday crunch tie against Leeds United at the Riverside.

The Nigerian midfielder who has only played three games for the Smoggies has been crowned Middlesbrough’s best player by miles by the fans.

The former Chelsea midfielder joined Tony Pulis side for the rest of the season after opting out of his contract with Chinese club Tianjin Teda.

The Super Eagles captain who cited various reasons for snubbing top European clubs for the championship side is playing at a frequency that is higher than his Middlesbrough mates.

On Saturday in Middlesbrough’s clash against the table-toppers Leeds United, Mikel Obi was clearly the man of the match on his side as his distribution of the ball and tackling were evident and vital to his sides 1-1 draw.

He's a good player. If boro can't promote to Premiership next season, I see him quiting for a premier league team.
