PDP are taking an attacking approach with a 4-4-2 formation,
while APC, the defending champions, are set for defence with a 5-4-1 formation.
PDP have won four of the five tournaments in 1999,2003,2007,and 2011 with clinical finishing, while APC won in 2015 through V.A.R.
The two sides have retained some of their key players, as well as signing other new ones in ground breaking transfer deals.
The both teams swapped players, with PDP exercising their buy-back clause by signing attacker Atiku Abubakar back for a world record fee.
Saraki and Tambuwal were also among big money moves from APC to PDP.

APC also signed Sullivan Chime, Emmanuel Uduaghan, Godswill Akpabio and Adamu Mu'Azu from the PDP.
However, APC's Ambode is not fit for this tournament, the team's loan signing Obanikoro and defensive midfielder Babachir Lawal may not feature in the finals as they are currently undergoing treatment at the EFCC Hospital and also the Team's last match Midfielder Okorocha is under suspension(Red Card), so also is Amosun.

A key player for APC FC, Tonye Cole who came on loan from Sahara Utd FC a division 2 Club in the Corporate Nigeria League was yesterday banned from playing in the all crucial tournament due to a case of match fixing levelled against him by veteran midfielder Magnus Abe still of APC FC.
