Two persons in possession of 14 sacks containing ballot papers were arrested in Kano State, today. Masked Fulani — Borono robbers arrested. Shortly after their arrest, there were reports that the ballot papers were thumb-printed for a political party. But Haruna Abdullahi, spokesman of the Kano State Police Command, denied the report, saying the ballot papers were specimen. Abdullahi, who displayed the sacks of ballot papers before newsmen, said two persons were arrested by Metro Police in the early hours of yesterday with the sacks of specimen ballot papers.

Let me categorically state that the ballot papers are not thumb printed and not real. They are just specimen used to enlighten voters in Jigawa State. The metro police in patrol at Sabon Gari have arrested two suspects with 14 sacks of specimen ballot papers,” the PPRO said. He explained that the arrested persons had since been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department, CID for investigation, saying, however, that the arrested persons were from Jigawa State and that full investigation into the matter had since begun The state police commissioner at a briefing stated that the force was apolitical and would do its work as constitutionally required without bias.
