There was a time South Africa was worse than Nigeria. There was white minority rule. What changed? South Africa sat down and held a stake holders meeting or the equivalent of a sovereign national conference. Everybody was involved, the Zulus, the Afrkaans, the Xohas and all other ethnic nationalities.


A totally new constitution and system of government was drawn up to accommodate the yearnings and aspirations of everyone.
The result was that everyone got their own region and power was completely decentralised. The Zulu Region has its own primeminister. Even inside South Africa, you have two independent autonomous Regions of Swaziland and Lesotho with their own presidents. Everybody is controlling their resources and internal security and paying an agreed sum to the centre. The result of this is that there has been relative peace and stability in South Africa which has fostered growth. There is still violent crime in South Africa but international investors would rather go to South Africa than Nigeria

In the case of Nigeria, we don't have a people constitution, we don't have a system.of government that works. The federal government is take a everything and every state goes to beg for crumbs every month. This had made different sections of the country agitate and Nigeria is very unstable

1. The Zulu region (KwaZulu Natal) does not have a prime Minister. Most black ethnic groups in SA have monarchs but also do not have PMs. Each province is run by a Premier (almost like Governors in Nigeria).

2. Lesotho and Swaziland have never been part of South Africa, even during colonial times (apartheid's predecessor).

3. The police service and army are controlled by the national government in Pretoria, regions don't control their own security. Provinces only control Metro cops but they mostly just enforce by-laws like traffic, hawking, etc (none of the heavy duty stuff).

4. My point is that there isn't as much regional self-autonomy in SA as you'd have us believe. Although provinces do have some semblance of self-governance.

the big problem with Nigerians they don't believe in themselves. they always have dreams of attending schools outside nigeria, using health care outside nigeria, working outside nigeria, etc. Most of South African citizens they don't have plans of going outside South Africa, they believe that they can get everything in their country.

Nigerians do not support their local soccer, local music, local movie, etc.
