We thank you all for the believed you have in us.
A member here consulted us to re-construct a faulty foundation for him which was constructed before by a quack.

The land is a little bit sloppy but firm which requires 4 courses of block in some section of the foundation and 3 courses of block in others part of foundation.

Here is a thread created for the project by a good member here which happend to ba a friend to the client before.

The formal foundation is 3bedrooms before the tsunami happend to it.

Now the client want us to redesign it to 3bedrooms with a mini flat of 1unit without expanding the old foundation which we did and the rooms space is still standard.

Here are old pics before we came in.

-We reduce the height of the foundation ( the initial foundation is too high)
-We also erected another wall in some area to support the existing wall there.
-also some wall that were collapsed already due to very shallow soil excavation were re-excavated deep coupled with solid footing and we erected another wall there.
-more so there is a provision for columns too
- And many more.

Well done all...

Late?? Better late thou.......

Reducing the block was a necessity at the backside...

But what remedy was done to the right where the wall had obviously given way? And can we be sure double block is sufficient?

Is there need to fill with weak concrete or introduce a tie beam since you're making provision for columns?

Weldone again...

We reduce the height of the existing foundation here.

A beam is necessary if it exceeds four courses of blocks. You need one here, because the height of the foundation is low.

Do you mean one must place a round beam if the foundation blocks exceed 4 courses high?

Wouldn't colums/pillars with iron reinforcements suffice?

If a beam is to be used, would it require iron reinforcements or just pouring concrete would suffice?

Thanks

How high was the former foundation and how many courses deep was the initial soil excavation?

Ideally is there a maximum height recommended for foundations? When would one need to add columns and beams to the foundation block walls?

Will columns suffice or you are considering round beam also?
Thanks

@bolded, we introduced another wall all throughout the affected area.

Yea you are right.

Here now the height of the foundation in some area is just 4 courses of block and some area only 3 courses of block.
So we dont introduced reinforced beam.

The formal height of the foundation is 5 courses in some area with shallow depth of just 100mm.

Height of foundation depends on the nature of the land i.e gentle slope land , table land, etc

I. Noticed that... That was why I asked if that was sufficient?

Or is there need to further reinforce it, since the previous pulled out

This can never pull off or pull out.

The mistake there before was that the excavated trench is shallow just 100mm
More so the height is much plus how the earth filling was done is wrong. Generally bad workmanship plus non professional supervision at the beginning
