Masturbation does not make one poor all by itself. One factor is hardly enough to make one poor. Poverty stems from a variety of factors.

You can be diligent and still be poor. You can be hardworking and still be poor. You can have a first-class degree and still be poor. Sometimes, poverty comes not from the fault of the individual but from society.

So, it is stupid for anyone to say that masturbation causes poverty.

As a matter of fact, studies have shown that moderate masturbatory practises are healthy.

Too much of masturbation, as indeed too much of anything in this world of ours, is bad. Even too much of water can cause overhydration which is bad.

Masturbation hinders one's fellowship with God, it separates a Christian from God. Even though there may be financial prosperity, the spiritual life of Christian who masturbates will be ineffective. Masturbation doesn't glorify God no matter how try to justify it by human understanding.
