What offers the best performance, carburetor or fuel injection, is a very controversial issue among car enthusiasts. Many believe that performance is better with a carburetor, while others insist that the only solution is to use gasoline injection. To determine what is best for your vehicle, it is important to understand how these two components work.

Engine performance

The carburetor's performance and fuel injection are mainly due to the amount of air and fuel that can enter the engine's cylinders. The cylinders contain pistons and combustion chambers in which the energy released by the combustion of petrol is released. The carburetor and fuel injection system feed the engine with fuel and air.

The carburetor

The carburetor constitutes jets that pushes the gas into the combustion chambers.. The amount of fuel that can pass through these jets
depends entirely on the amount of air that can be drawn into the carburetor. The main problem in getting the best performance with a carburetor is that it can not control the air / fuel ratio for each cylinder. If there was a carburetor for each cylinder, it would not be a problem. Therefore, with a carburetor, the best fuel / air ratio of each cylinder is achieved to obtain the best performance. However, carburetors last longer than fuel injection systems and are preferred in motorized sports. Carburetors are also much easier to fix up than fuel injection systems because there are no electrical components or return lines to the fuel tank. The carburetor is currently much less expensive than electronic injection systems.

Fuel injection system

Fuel injection systems are becoming increasingly popular for those looking for the best performance of their engines. There are two different injection versions: door fuel injection and direct injection. Fuel injection on the left side is the most commonly used direct injection and the latest fuel injection system developed. This system has been designed specifically for four or two engines. The main advantage of using direct injection is that the amount of fuel and air can be released perfectly and then injected into the cylinder according to the load conditions of the engine. The electronics used in the system will calculate this information and adjust it continuously. This type of controlled injection means more output power, greater fuel efficiency and much lower emissions. One of the main problems is that these systems are sophisticated and will cost much more than a carburetor. The installation is more complicated because it uses an electrical component and a customized configuration of the head.

What is the best?

It is quite obvious that most cars will adopt fuel injection systems due to the reduction of emissions. However, unless the cost of these systems decreases significantly, there will always be a massive sequel that will stick to the carburetors. As for pure power, the fuel injection system provides only about 10 more horsepower at most. It is the ability to continuously regulate fuel and air consumption for each cylinder which improves performance. Fuel injection systems are the best because they reduce vibration and help overcome steep slopes that are a traditional terrain for off-road work. Once again, the best choice depends entirely on where and how you drive.
