PRESS STATEMENT .

ABUA /ODUAL PDP CAMPAIGN COUNCIL CONDEMNS THE ARREST , UNPROVOKED HARASSMENT AND ASSAULT ON THE PEOPLE OF THE AREA .

The Peoples Democratic Party Campaign council has condemned in strongest term the ongoing assault ,harassment and selective arrest of the people in the LGA .

The Council made the statement sequel to the illegal and unlawful activities of the Nigeria Army in the area yesterday ,the 21 of February 2019.

The statement adds that as at 7pm yesterday the Army drove into Ogbema community and arrested the following innocent persons
1. Boomni Edum
2. Idiokwu Okuru
3. Arunmo Uzor
4. Ariye Welcome
5. Emmanuel Owunari and
6. Mr Iderghi Iplaibo

In like manner, one Saturday Akeodi was greviously wounded as a military officer (with an undisplayed name tag) struck the back of a gun on the head of Saturday Akeodi in Ayama, Abua Central .

The campaign Council notes that this wanton human right abuse barely 24 hours to the general election is a ploy by the opposition party in the LGA and state to intimidate and scare the people from coming out to exercise their civic right so that they can manipulate the electoral process .

The campaign council therefore call on the Chief of Army staff ,Major General Tukur Buratai to call his men at the 6 division led by Jarmil Sarham to order .

The statement also call on all international bodies and observers to call the Nigeria Government to stand true on its social contract to conduct a free fair and credible elections .

The Abua /Odual Campaign Council restate its position that it stands for peaceful ,free and fair election in the LGA and therefore, appeal to the army to immediately and unconditionally release those arrested .

What state in Nigeria is this pls?

A lot of this will happen between today and tomorrow.

The PDP did same in 2015.

The APC are toeing the same path because, it's actually the same folks (including the security forces personnel).

Today, it's the same script and same actors. Just different names.

Whether Buhari or Atiku wins, it'd just be a continuation of the one step forward and 500 steps back that the country has been taking since 1999.
