You can be useful in any numerical field of any establishment, IT, Banking, Engineering, seismological companies (oil exploration), manufacturing, quantity/quality management, Teaching etc. You can also be self-sufficient. Do well to be carve your area of professionalism by getting certified.

Look for industry-based problems and solve.

For example, optimization of chemical processes have received alot of attention of recent. There are two basic optimization techniques. The direct search methods and the indirect methods that make use of derivatives.

The problem with the direct methods is locating a feasible starting point which if not properly chosen could land you into something called 'Local Optima'.

The indirect methods on the other hand which appear to be more efficient are limited to differentiable models. In summary, obtaining a well defined search space and efficient ways of arriving at 'Global Optima' is a very big headache now.

The above is just an example of the problems you could solve in you are interested in research. I would recommend you read recent journals on industrial process techniques. You will easily find a problem to solve.

You will remain irrelevant if you don't solve any problem or atleast demonstrate the potential to do so. Start looking for problems to solve. I will recommend you proceed for your masters if you have money.

But if you want a white collar job, try banks and financial institutions like KPMG if age is on your side.
