The All Progressive Congress, APC has won 19 House of Representatives constituency seats so far announced in the state by electoral returning officers.


Kano state has 24 House of representative constituency seats across the 44, Local Government Areas.
The incumbent Speaker of Kano State House of Assembly, Kabiru Alhassan Rurum emerged victorious at the Federal Constituency election held on Saturday.
The results were announced by the returning officer of Rano, Kibiya and Bunkure federal constituency professor Kabiru Taheer Hameed of Bayero University Kano.

Rurum, a candidate of the APC, polled 62,455 votes to defeat the candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Sani Muhammad Aliyu Rano who scored 33, 296 votes.

A breakdown of the outcome indicates that, the APC candidate scored 16, 505 while the PDP candidate of the PDP had 2, 543 in Kibiya LGA.

Also in Rano LGA the APC candidate polled 21,459 as the PDP candidate had 9, 292 while in Bunkure LGA, APC had 24,491 and the PDP candidate scored 11, 461 votes.

The former Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly Matters, Abdurrahman Kawu-Sumaila won the House of Representatives seat for Takai/Sumaila Federal Constituency in the State.

Kawu-Sumaila, who contested under the APC, defeated two other major contenders from PDP and Peoples Redemption Party, PRP to emerge winner.

Announcing the results in Sumaila, the Returning Officer for the constituency, Prof. Mustapha Hassan-Bichi, said the APC candidate scored 55, 487 votes.
He defeated PDP and PRP candidates, Surajo Kanawa and Samaila Abdullahi respectively, who got 18,445 and 10,627 votes.

Meanwhile, the APC has also won Kura/Madobi/Garunmalam Federal constituency.

Announcing the results, the Returning Officer, Prof. Yahaya Imam-Sulaiman, said the APC candidate, Idris Kabiru defeated his opponent, Mohammed Buhari of the PDP with 66,867 against 33,293 votes.

Also, the APC has won the Danbatta/Makoda Federal Constituency in Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections.
Announcing the results on in Danbatta, the returning officer for the constituency, Prof. Mohammed Rabi’u-Sa’ad of the Bayero University Kano, said the APC candidate, Ayuba Badamasi polled 34, 448 votes to defeat the PDP candidate, Yusuf Bello-Sulaiman who secured 18, 662 votes.

Meanwhile, 42 out of the 44 local government areas results for the presidential elections have been collated at INEC headquarters in Kano with the APC leading overwhelming and the PDP striving to make its 25% target.
