The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET), has forecasted early rainfall this year.

In view of the aforementioned statement, the federal ministry of agriculture in collaboration with the respective state agricultural agencies, is advising farmers and the populace to get ready for the farming season, so they wouldn't be taken by surprise.

Farmers should begin; Land clearing, application/incorporation of ash and organic fertilizer to the soil, acquiring of inorganic fertilizers etc.

Another paramount but highly ignored point is that, farmers are encouraged to make use of improved crop varieties to increase productivity/yield, rather than using the local varieties.
