Five days after the Presidential and National Assembly elections, there is a mounting tension in Plateau north Senatorial District, over the delay in the announcement of election results for the district and Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency. Daily Sun gathered that political groups in support of the two leading parties, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) are protesting that the results had been doctored. It was observed that supporters of the APC in the senatorial district are not celebrating the victory of President Muhammadu Buhari duringin the presidential election, simply because the senatorial election result has not been announced. National Chairman of Concerned Nigerian Citizens, Ahmed Hassan, said they will not accept any result that does not favour Rufus Bature, the APC senatorial candidate for Plateau north and Haruna Maitala, APC candidate for House of Representatives. He said they will not accept a doctored result from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and called on the electoral body’s Chairman, Prof. Yakubu Mahmoud, to order release of the result of the elections He said: “The delay in the announcement of the results gives room for suspicion. We believe something is going on, and any attempt to temper with the result of Plateau north election will not be accepted, because we already have the result. “The election was very peaceful and results of the presidential and national assembly elections have been announced, except that of the Plateau north, and we don’t know why the result is being delayed.” Chairman of Concerned Nigerian Citizens, Plateau North, Comrade Mohammed Bashir Mohammed, alleged that INEC had doctored the result and said they will not accept any injustice. He urged INEC to announce the result as it is and added that whoever is aggrieved should contest the result in court. “We don’t know what is delaying the result. We are disturbed by the action of INEC and we will not accept any manipulation of the result. We need our result today, we are seriously concerned over the delay in announcement of the result.” https://www.sunnewsonline.com/five-days-after-inec-fails-to-announce-plateau-north-results-2/ |

My observation and advise to the PDP governors and other opposition parties going for the forthcoming governorship election,if they don’t suppose Atiku to fight against this Evil electoral frauds the APC perpetrated,I don’t seeing any of them winning the forth coming governorship election, because what happened on the just concluded Presidential elections will be just an iceberg, earlier the best that they, all opposition parties should protects against it now,Atiku speech says it all,he is not fighting for himself but for what APC will perpetrate on the forthcoming governorship election,it’s rigging will be father of all rigging so let all fight against it earlier before the time. 20 Likes |

Ofcourse, INEC in cahoots with APC are trying to cook the result and award APC victory when we all know PDP won fair and square. The people already have the results. |

Plateau North and Jos North Bassa/federal constituency clarely won by PDP but refused to be announced by INEC . PLATEAU NORTH SENATORIAL RESULTS Jos South LGA: PDP -108,451 APC - 26,474 Jos East LGA: PDP - 8,679 APC – 12,635 Bassa LGA: PDP - 35,205 APC - 27,752 B/Ladi LGA: PDP - 42,125 APC - 16,132 Riyom LGA: PDP -21,093 APC - 8,878 Jos North LGA: PDP - 88,726 APC - 70,662 TOTAL PDP - 304,279 APC - 162,533 DIFF: 141,746 IN FAVOUR OF PDP. We urge all Plateau Citizens and indeed Nigerians to demand and insist for the declaration of the result by INEC Hold Plateau Resident Electoral Commissioner Responsible for Break down of Law & Order - Plateau PDP The Plateau State Chapter of the People's Democratic Party has said the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the State, Alh. Husseini Halilu Pai should be held responsible should there be any break down of law and order in the State for refusing to announce the winners of the Plateau Northern Senate and House of Representatives for Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency in the just concluded National Assembly election. This was made available in a text issued by the State Chairman of the Party at a Press Conference held in the State Party Secretariat Yakubu Gowon Way Jos, Plateau State. Below is the press text: TEXT OF THE PRESS CONFERENCE BY THE CHAIRMAN, PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY, PLATEAU STATE, HON. DAMISHI T. SANGO, ON WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 27, 2019, AT THE PDP SECTETARIAT, JOS Gentlemen of the Press, 1. It has become imperative to address you today on the political happenings in Plateau following the conduct of the general elections on Saturday, February 23rd, 2019. 2. We acknowledge that the elections were relatively peaceful. 3. There was also an enthusiastic turn out of the people to vote despite the earlier inexcusable postponement by INEC which had brought untold anguish and disappointment on the electorate. 4. Plateau people clearly spoke their minds by vesting their trust in PDP through overwhelmingly voting for the party 5. Their votes gave PDP unassailable victory across the State. 6. We salute our supporters for their commitment and resilience in seeking to chart a new course for a united, secure and prosperous Plateau. 7. However, we are saddened to note that four days after the conduct of the elections, INEC is yet to turn in the final results and declare the winners. 8. The situation cuts across the three senatorial zones of the state. 9. In the Southern Zone, INEC declared the election inconclusive after cancelling the results of some units in Qua'an Pan and Wase LGAs. 10. There was clear pressure on the Returning Officer to declare the result in favour of APC 11. In the Central Zone, INEC again declared the election inconclusive. As a matter of fact, INEC and stakeholders alongside agents of the parties entered into a formal agreement for a re-run to be conducted in some units in Kanam. 12. But very surprisingly, INEC summoned the Returning Officers under heavy military intimidation and ordered them to announce the result of the election in favour of APC. 13. In the Northern Zone, we received reports from INEC officers on ground and our agents that PDP had roundly won the election. 14. INEC then picked Tudun Wada-Kabong ward, a stronghold of the PDP in Jos North LGA and has withheld the results of all the 65 units with a total voter population of about 92 thousand people! 15. The commission therefore instructed the Returning Officers not to announce the results. 16. It is therefore evident that the wholesome cancellation of units across the state was deliberately targeted at disenfranchising the people and weakening PDP bases. 17. It is glaring then to everyone that the Resident Electoral Commissioner ((REC), Alhaji. Husseini Halilu Pai had compromised his position as an umpire. 18. Consequently, he has set the whole of Plateau on tension which is a recipe for monumental crisis. 19. The PDP and its stakeholders have been working tirelessly to calm frayed nerves. 20. But this cannot go on for too long. 21. We are therefore alerting the nation and the world to hold the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Alhaji Husseini Halilu Pai responsible for any breakdown of law and order. 22. We can only appeal to him to douse this rising tension by immediately releasing the results. 23. We know from where the pressure is coming. Governor Lalong is the source. 24. The governor has been blackmailed by some elements in the state who want him to give them certain elective positions in exchange for their support for his re-election. 25. Lalong wants a second tenure at the expense of the blood and peace of Plateau. 26. Plateau people will accept nothing less than justice. 27. À stitch in time should save nine. Thank you very much. 8 Likes 2 Shares |
