Governor of Imo State, Rochas Anayo Owelle Okorocha has reacted to his suspension on Friday by the National Working Committee of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
Okorocha, who recently clinched a senatorial seat under the party, was suspended alongside the Governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun.
Reacting to the Development, Okorocha attacked the national chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomole in a statement released via his spokesperson, Sam Onwuemodo.
The statement read;
“In 2019, Oshiomhole felt that such a man should be treated with disdain. He handed over the governorship ticket of the party to Hope Uzodinma who has never resigned his membership of the PDP on the floor of the Senate like others did, giving all kinds of flimsy excuses.
“And if Oshiomhole had meant well for APC and Imo people in particular, would he have given the ticket of the party to a man facing five corruption charges and having travel ban slammed on him, to be the party’s candidate?
“In February 23, 2019, presidential and National Assembly election, Governor Okorocha won in ten, out of the twelve local governments in Orlu zone to emerge winner for Imo West senatorial district. He also delivered four House of Representatives candidates on the platforms of APC and AA respectively, with one Senate seat and two House of Representatives seats outstanding.
“And when the APC members across the nation are still celebrating the success of the party in the presidential and National Assembly elections, Oshiomhole in his wisdom or lack of it, felt that the best action in the circumstance is to suspend two governors who did well in the election, even when he played safe in 2015 and 2019 in Edo State without any known pressure.
“Again, Oshiomhole coming up with the purported expulsion this time was only acting out of the fear that God in his infinite mercy could give Governor Okorocha a role to play in the Senate, in the overall interest of the nation.
“Men like him hardly sleep with their two eyes closed. They always sleep with their eyes open because they have murdered sleep with their actions and inactions. And unfortunately for him, the purported expulsion can’t stand because the law has taken care of it even long before now,” Okorocha said.
All Progressive Clowns. Okorocha loves to betray his people because he wants to be president in 2023. Joe Igbokwe another traitor. This na di next level
I just love oshiomole guts, he's the right man for the National chairman, he was the right man for Edo state governorship and Is the right man for the presidency come 2023

Okorocha is already approaching the end of the road over his ambition for 2023 presidential ambition. Here is a case of man whose only ambition is family affairs governess. See a case of a man as a retired governor after 8 years of family rule still want to continue to the National level with himself as Senate bigwig, the wife as house of rep. big wig and his in-law to continue as Okorocha family rule of Imo state.
I heard from the inside, "Rocha's Days in Politics are numbered."
APGA, he used & dumped dont like him. APC , he is fighting. PDP, dont want him.
HIS DAYS IN POLITICS ARE SLIDING,LIKE SAND IN A TIME CLOCK!
Am seeing ....party behind the man talk. Which party does he belong cos if he’s an inec staff and he’s talking from another party headquarters the the case is dead on arrival
valentineuwakwe: is this how to react to a news of party suspension? okorocha is just confused....you share and turn Imo state to your family business and still hAve the mouth to talk to the press. ...most people don't knw this... your wife collects all market levies in the state. ..and still wants to go for house of representative..... your younger brother is in charge of imo transport company, itc your wife younger brother collects all sand/dredging levies in the state your sister is the commisoner of happiness your son in law whom you made chief of staff, who is unknown in the state has never become or won any ward, councillor, LGA or zona head...now want to be governor... all other family things you turn Imo state property into.... the world is watching... time for honouring your self will soon the over....
SEONaijaExpert: Okorocha doesn't like Oshiomole from here to there, he believes he's the reason his candidate couldn't get the governorship ticket that was given to Hope Uzodinma.
On the other hand, Hope doesn't like Okorocha from here to there, he believes he's a dictator and want to put Imo state in his pocket.
Whichever way, in as much as Okorocha had plans to dominate and spearhead anything called APC in Imo, he went against party rules even to the extreme. Yet, that doesn't take away the fact that Okorocha is one of the reasons APC is alive in the East. He alone at that time believed in APC and brought it down there.
Like we would always say, nobody is above his/her political party and party decision stands always.
I hope their grievances is settled as Okorocha deserves to be a celebrated figure.
I rest my case.
In as much as I don't like okorocha I totally agree with you.
Stop the lies. Okorocha's wife is not in government but rather just the 1st lady and she does not involve in politics. There is no Commissioner for happiness like you lied and the ministry has not taken off except on billboard. Neither Nwosu nor Mrs Ololo is an aid to Okorocha presently.
stop saying what you dnt know in order to confuse people..if they have given you peanuts as bride, park well.....am telling you what are the main facts and you are here writing rubbish. ...even the governor does not deny all this, saying Imo people did not vote him this second term hence his action now...
Your contribution is the only sensible one so far ..and this shows how "mentally detached" our Youths have become. I was expecting sound, situational analysis from them, especially from people of Imo who are at the centre of it all but who sai, it's all irrelevant corn and stout gibberish they are offering.
That is by the way. In my opinion, we should make it a constitutional law that [b;]anyone who wins a ticket (governor, senator, Reps, Chairman, etc) on a particular party's ticket, if you defect from that party, that sit and ticket becomes vacant automatically.[/b] This us the best way to solve the "political rascality" of 'use and dump' or politicians just taking the electorate for a ride. Since people voted for you on the platform of the party of their choice, if you dump the party, you must return their ticket back to them. Simple.
Another thing is the issue of "party supremacy". Every politician IS FREE to decamp to any party of their choice but if you chose to remain in a party, then you MUST OBEY THE PARTY RULES AND PARTY AUTHORITY. You can't stay in party A and be undermining the same party while working for party B. That is treacherous and not good for our democracy. If we the voters suffer to cast our vote, say for APGA in Anambra, for the party nominee, Mr. X, because we believe in our party, after using our votes to become Governor of Anambra, Mr. X now decamp to APC, so we now have APC Govt in power in Anambra, when what we voted for was APGA, have we not been defrauded?
Best thing is for Mr. X to vacate that office, be relieved of that ticket and allow APGA to field another candidate or allow fresh election into that office.
We are sliding into a situation where Governors are beginning to undermine our democracy and act like tin-god's. If we don't check it now, a time will come when some Governors will come together and become INEC, deciding who they want as President (and who must do their bidding at all cost), Senators, Reps, etc. Absolute Power, corrupts absolutely!
As much as we may not like Oshiomole, we must give it to him for trying to restore "party authority" over it's members though this does not mean a party official has to disrespect party members and act arbitrarily as if it is their personal business. Okorocha and Ibikunle Amosu needs to be watched very carefully and even more closely henceforth, now that they have "Senate sit" in their grasp otherwise, the experience of APC with Saraki will repeat itself all over again. No one can/should force himself on a party, if they expel you, you are no longer a member of that party. If you still parade yourself as a member, then you should be charged for impersonation, which us a criminal offense. If we all want to enjoy democracy the way Americans, Europeans and others enjoy it, we must begin to sanitise the rubbish we are operating and calling democracy in Nigeria, it has been hijacked by criminals and greedy few.
Buhari especially, must stop playing this his "l am for everybody game" that ruined his first 4yrs.
A word is enough for the wise.
my broda you have said it all....however, some of the imo youth will see otherwise. ...if okorocha has done well, he would hv been the best APC igbo option for the presidency in 2023 but he has lost it even if he goes to the Senate.....time for honouring himself will soon be over
It's a good tactics Oshomole has played. Rochas going to join the majority APC senators can have a chance that he can influence the system greatly. It's easier to strip him off that chance.
