DISCLAIMER: I am writing as a fan of the station, I have no vested interest or any stake in the activities of the station).
For those who want to have the clearer picture of the events that let to the shutting down of Jay 101.9 FM Jos by the presidency as reported by Sahara Reporters, here is the thing. Jay 101.9fm is one distinct radio station that has enjoyed wider listenership since its establishment two years ago. Unlike other stations, the radio station allow people to air their views irrespective of their political afflictions. I must confess that the presenters/ staff of the station are being professional in their reportage. They are always quick to climb down on any form of excesses from their fans. That aside.

The main reason for their shut down is because they kept re-echoing INEC's flaws in respect to the non declaration of the winners of the Plateau Northern Senatorial/ House of Representatives elections results. Many people including myself, are highly disappointed over the strategy used by INEC in scuttling the will of the people.

For those who followed the announcement of the Plateau state presidential election results, you must have heard of the complaint laid by the PDP agent in respect to the rationale behind the cancellation of the entire Tudun Wada/Kabong wards presidential/national assembly results for no apparent reason. Be warned, we are not talking about polling unit here, we are referring to the entire ward, not even one ward at that, two wards with the largest number of registered voters in the entire Jos north (over 90,000 registered voters).

The condemnations that greeted INEC's decision to cancel the results, public outcries as well as follow-up protests ensured that INEC was under pressure to declare the Senatorial/ House of Representatives results which was apparently at the brim of manipulations as did the presidential results. Now, many people especially, voters from Tudun Wada/Kabong wards were given a platform on Jay 101.9 FM to air their grievances. Some were pouring invectives on the state government as many believe that the delay in announcing the results was his handiwork. Some other people see it as a strategy to discourage people from coming out to vote in the coming gubernatorial polls, while others said they are motivated to even come out enmasse to vote out governor Lalong come 9th March. This is what let to the closure of the station coz apparently, Lalong's chances are being jeopardized by the gimmicks and intrigues played on the sensitivity of Plateau sons and daughters!
