olas24u: Again untrue. The Unification Decree No 34 did not completely destroy the regions. That was the sole handiwork of Yakubu Gowon who repealed the Decree 34 and then created the first 12 states with a military, central government. |

ARE WE PAWNS? Permit me to state my POINTS FOR CONCERN. The last person that used this phrase had his third force defeated but I pray and hope that this piece turns an eye-opener to us. The recent activities in the political corners of Oyo state has seen political giants take sides just because of one thing – interests! The “o to gee” movement has seen some already established political bigwigs lose their seats in the corridors of power, while the others’ fate is just a matter of time. Chief among the big losers is the outgoing governor of our dear state, His “constituted authority” Afobaje Isiaka Ajimobi. He has lost his political seat by the real constituted authorities - the electorates. As it is, when tyranny is to be removed, it is to be done by sending all the descendants of the “tyrant” into exile and breaking all external allies of the tyrant. Now, we have seen that our outgoing governor has lost grip of the state to the electorate and he has decided to listen to the master APC tactician (I give it to him because indeed he is a politician who can play it dirty just to get desired result) Asiwaju. By this move, a deal was struck with The man from Ogbomoso, Adebayo Alao Akala, who in times past, have earned great respect and love from the people of our state. An “Omisoore” is about to be done on Oyo state. The question that begs for serious answers are; 1. Why will Tinubu want to turn Our state to Lagos state, thereby manipulating our insensitive leaders? 2. Why would Akala, who I respect so much decide to sell the fortunes of his constituency, Ogbomoso, to those who just will shove him aside within 2 years, and resume his EFCC witch haunting? 3. Why would these politicians turn us into pawns that they can push around and laugh it off over a glass of wine? The solution is simple! O TO GEE must be effected on all these people. Let us retire the following 1. Akala 2. Ajimobi 3. Tinubu (in Our state because Lagos is yet to have sense) 4. Ladoja is already nearing retirement. I do not have anything against Bayo Adelabu, the anointed of Ajimobi. But I fear Ajimobi will use him to get at us, who decided to retire him in politics. This will still in disguise put us under the dictatorship of Ajimobi. From all indications a right thinking person from Oyo state should not allow these people make a mockery of our intelligence. Ogbomoso people, the questions you should ask yourselves is that what will Akalas’ defection bring to your constituency? Finally, we must teach these people that POWER BELONGS TO THE PEOPLE! Not a political party or figure. If the eventual winner of this guber elections also decides to play God in his term, 2023 will meet us in good health. VOTE YOUR CONSCIENCE! (fisheryems) |

freeze001:The indigenous founding fathers of Nigeria after considering many options settled for a Federal Constitution for Nigeria. The 1960 Independence and the 1963 Republican Constitutions were Federal Constitution. Nigeria could be said to have operated a Federal Constitution from 1960 to 1966. |

freeze001:The military, illegally, subverted the 1963 Constitution by taking over power from the elected Governments in Jan. 1966 through a coup d’état. Major-General Agui Ironsi became the first military ruler in Nigeria in Jan 1966 in a dramatic fashion. |

freeze001:On May 24, 1966, General Ironsi restructured the country along a unitary system by promulgating Decree No. 34. The Decree amongst other things said – ‘Nigeria shall on the 24th May 1966 … cease to be a Federation and shall accordingly as from that day be a Republic by the name of the Republic of Nigeria …’ Please note he did name Nigeria REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA not FDERAL MILITARY GOVERNMENT. |
Re: Tinubu Bans Ajimobi From Appearing At APC Governorship Rallies by olas24u(f): 5:07pm On Mar 04, 2019 |
freeze001:This marked the birth of unitary system in Nigeria and the death of Federalism. He, however, pointed out that the Decree was to be entirely a transitional measure. The Northern Political elites and the Northern traditional institution opposed the letter and the spirit of the Decree 34. and expressed their opposition to the Decree 34 of Gen. Ironsi. |

freeze001:Gowon who openly rejected unitary system of government for Nigeria eventually moved Nigeria to a height of unitary system never contemplated by Major Agui Ironsi who paid a supreme sacrifice for insisting that a military administration can only be unitary in nature. |

emonkey:Your question is ridiculous!you cannot compare the civilization, the infastructural development, the education, the healthcare, the people and the politics with Lagos .we are in the 6or 7th republic and you can't compare.during the regional system here you must have lived and paid taxes for a period before you can vote or be voted for ,but you know the unitary has allowed people travel in a night bus from the east some where in Lagos on the line trying to vote along ethnic lines and not ideas and aspirations of the land owners |
Re: Tinubu Bans Ajimobi From Appearing At APC Governorship Rallies by freeze001(f): 5:28pm On Mar 04, 2019 |
How was he in charge? The NEC at national level was responsible for all primaries and without its approval, it was invalidated. Was Ambode not in charge at Lagos? He could have given himself na. That is why Ogun and Imo governors still have issues with Oshiomole, even Zamfara until the issue was addressed by the court. Tinubu and co, knowing his many sins preferred to perpetuate his evil until the people showed their anger through their votes and now they want to separate him from the party that it is the governor the people are angry with not the party. So they can make that difference but we will not hear word for 16 years of the PDP as if it is the party and not its members that carry out functions of governance at whatever level. mfm04622: |

It is now high time for APC LEADERS to come to rescue when the battle is almost lost......why they can correct AJIMOBI when he is treating OYO STATE as animals.....he was treating LAUTECH like nursery school extension....PVC should speak now... |

Behold an height of insensitivity on the part of APC. When Ajimobi was disrespectful to the noble stools of Olubadan, APC kept mum and watching its prominent member in the character of Ajimobi brought disrepute to the aged long traditional institution. |

freeze001: If he interfered then Ajimobi will shout about Lagos interference, he let Ajimobi govern his state but now when it looks like Ajimobi has ruined all the goodwill of APC. The leader of APC has to come and clear the mess once again Same thing with Akeredolu, he messed up Ondo after given a free hand |

olas24u: No one is trying to dominate anyone, I don't understand why you guys keep propagating this fallacy. Is it insecurity or what? Keep repeating a lie and before long you will believe it and actually start acting like it's happening. It is your people that bring unprovoked attacks. 2015 elections, Oba said any Igbo who did not vote Ambode would drown in the lagoon, why? Both candidates at the time sought the support of any one or group they could get across to which is normal. Why the special interest in Igbos? Now in 2019 it is even worse; Tinubu starts by reminding Nigerians how good Lagos has been to them like it's not part of Nigeria. Nobody quarreled or defied him yet he sent his goons and u all know wand support the terrible crimes perpetrated on 23 February. No one can help your bias and pre-formed ideas though, ride on but at least we now know where we all stand so we will see where it takes us in this country. |
