Hi everyone, lemme go straight to the point.

I have a friend who graduated since 2016 in a federal university in the east and since then, up until now, she has been failing two particular courses; a year 3 and a year 4 course.

I adviced her to request for a remarking but she's scared to do so, according to her, what if she actually failed in which I told her it's practically impossible to fail a course for good 3 to 4 consecutive years to the extent of not even getting an "E"

To cut the long story short, according to her out of over a 100 students during her set, only less than 30 graduated!
Secondly, she didn't fail the two courses at once, it's either she fails one and the other gets missing or vice versa each consecutive year.

So guys, how do we solve this issue, is there any union or body that looks into issues like this? What would you advice us to do in this case
NB: she attends classes and has been paying school fees and dues all these years.

Village people things... No need consulting an oracle...
She should seek spiritual help from the familia bondage holding her back....

Similar problem am facing currently now,am supposed to graduate since 2017 and up till now my name is yet appear on the graduating list even the one released as of yesterday, i have done and submitted my project since,and even presented my seminar in school with my group...seriously am sick and tired of everything.
I have been giving excuses to my parents since but now i don't have anything else to tell them again.

Her case is pathetic, if she can meet her level adviser and explain things to him or her, so he or she will help her out, you know if one does carry over, the grade will be different from other courses, like if one gets a D, in the original grade, he or she score C, she should not give up, let her read well and back it up with prayer, it's well, carry over or spill over can be frustrating in such a way one will be praying to have an E.

Exactly what is "School Course" and "Departmental Course" ?

School courses here might limply faculty courses.

I think she should meet the lecturer of that course and tell him/her her plight.

After that, let her align with brilliant students in that course, like those on first class, people that teaches tutorials also. With these, she would pass the course.

Let her read also.

I remember back then in school, I was in first year. There was this girl that had carry over in first year course. During the exam, she sat beside me. After answering 5 and half questions out of 6, I decided to look on her reg number because I hardly see her.

She was in final year, she hadn't attempted a single question. So I had pity on her and I told her to copy me. She smiled and said thanks.

30 minutes to go, she wrote everything I had written and we submitted. ( pens up, submit or you will mark your answer booklet by yourself) .

After the exam, she brought out 5k and said I should take, I refused.

We later exchanged contacts and we left.

Since the exam is over 70, assignment 30.

I called her and told her, assignment is to be submitted tomorrow,she shouted and said she had no idea.

She later came and copied mine, then we submitted. She kept on asking if I was real, that she was so surprised and very happy.



Fast forward to year 2 first semester, results were out. I checked that course and I got 70, I also checked hers and she got 75, I was like wtf!!

I called her and told her the good news and she was happy she was gonna go for service that year.

We later saw during her clearance and we discussed a Lil bit and I said good bye.



Just roll with serious students in that level and see how your plight will be wiped.

Op your friend should either pray hard, visit the lecturer, take it up with higher authorities or probably get someone close to those lecturers to help her..

The only solution I know is that she should seriously talk to God about it . I bet if she can do this well whatever be the issue will give way.

After talking to God, let her also talk to the lecturer to guide her on what she might not been getting right.

After the 6th year you’re no longer eligible for BSc Hons or BA Hons it will just be BSc or the degree because the person failed to graduate within the speculated time.

This is serious o! For 3 yrs well after all APC has failed for 4yrs and still going so my dear dont worry everything will be fine..

Have you checked to see if any of the results of the courses you took is missing?

Go to exams and record unit of your school and find out. Possibly some of your results are still glued to files of department that offered them. They have to be fawarded to exams and record for computation.

I don't think her problem is missing result.

Results usually pass through Departmental board of examiners, faculty board of examiners, and senate business committee before it is finally released. It is practically impossible for a missing result of a spill over student to pass through these stages undetected.

School Courses: FUTO is divided into 5 or 6 schools thereabout, we have S.E.ET = School of Engineering and Engineering Technology, there is SAAT= School of Agric..., there is SOCS = School of Sciences.... etc.
all this schools are governed by Deans and there are some courses everyone in each school must pass not minding your department (for the fact you are in a department in the school). for Engineering you must pass Thermodynamics, ODE,... etc

Departmental Courses: Are those courses owned by your department.

I COMOT CAP FOR THAT SCHOOL O. Well, in a manner,all schools have such, but it was never explicitly spelt out this way at Ekpoma. It was just Core Courses, Required and Electives. Capish.

Well i get it, just nomenclature difference. General Course (GST), Faculty Course (MTHS 210 - Engineering Maths 1) and Departmental Courses (CIE 301).

Those lecturers probably wants to samankwe her let her go and see them for kitten verification and accreditation from there she would pass.

Lemme cut it short for you too. There is a staff (academic or non-academic) on her case. She should just follow it up bumper to bumper. Let her go to the Dean of her Faculty ot Head of her department and make the complaint or even the Senate for help.

Not all course adviser get sense o... We do manually submit course reg in ma sch .... And a day was fixed for submission, then i was nt around... I went to ma course adviser who happens to collect the form... The second day.... I show him hospital card of our sch teaching hospital that i had appointment that why i didn't meet up.... Guess what he said.... Nigga said gerrout.... I said pls.. He repeat gerrout... I didn't talk was looking like zombie.... Guess what he did after few minutes.... He zoom off had to quickly remove ma leg make the werey no use tyre match me before them go admit me for the teaching hospital

If I read this correctly, you didn't meet up with your course adviser in his office. You actually met him in, or around the car, preparing to hit the road. I don't think that was appropriate, you wouldn't have expected him to walk down to his office to attend to you. Maybe that was why he was harsh in his response.

When I was in school I knw of a guy that has been writing two particular course (metrology and jigs and fixtures) for about three years before my time..at first everyone will thought it's the fault of the lecturer as the lecturer was a no nonsense man ...Me and the guy wrote exams in the same hall and he was sitted behind me..I found out he only answered one question (Asin 5a) out of 4 to be answered which was calculation throughout the allotted time of 2hrs...Alas after marking he scored 7/100...If u were the lecturer will u pass that kind of score??....and these guy doesn't miss a class ooo because the lecturer doesn't tolerate absenteeism..

How does one graduate in 2016 and continue to fail particular courses? Isn't it after successfully taking all courses and excelling that one graduates?

Go and read ur books and stop wasting time on NL lying that 70% of the class is failing. Its pathetic u trying to shift the blame due to ur inability to read and pass. Those that passed dont have to heads. If u cant read and pass, stop wasting everybody's time and just go learn hairdressing or pepper selling.
