CAN Calls For Free, Fair And Credible Polls by Mrakeli: 5:55am On Mar 09, 2019
The President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), His Eminence, Dr Samson Ayokunle, has called on all stakeholders in the electoral process to ensure free, fair and credible governorship and State Assembly elections devoid of bloodshed and all forms of electoral malpractices.

In a statement yesterday in Abuja, Ayokunle urged all eligible voters who have Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to come out en masse to exercise their inalienable rights without any fear of being intimidated and vote according to their conscience.

He observed that failure to vote is to allow the wrong candidates to occupy the position of leadership they did not deserve.

“We call on all stakeholders, politicians, security agencies, and the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure a peaceful atmosphere before, during and after the elections. Our politicians should avoid rigging, violence, vote buying, ballot box snatching and other electoral offences; our security operatives, especially the Police and the Army, must operate within the ambit of the law, while our youths should resist the temptation of being used to foment trouble.”

The CAN president called on all INEC officials and the security operatives involved in the conduct of the polls to remain impartial and apolitical before, during and after the poll.

He said: “The performance of INEC should be better than the previous elections and we task them to ensure that the collation of results is free, fair transparent, and accessible to all stakeholders. It is high time we told the whole world that our democracy has come of age”.

Dr Samson Ayokunle you have issued your statement but do you think a large segment of our political class will listen.

They have paid their political thugs to be on standby to do DABARU WORK for them.

We can only have free and credible elections when Nigerians want free and credible elections.

Till then, we may as well be talking into the air.

The humility of Christ offers nothing attractive to journeymen in Christianity.

Even a Baptist pastor now His Eminence?

Eminent to who, Dr Ayokunle?

..they comparing themselves with themselves are not wise.

It is natural that people wouldn't agree with election outcomes. But we must not discount the fact that votes counted in the 2019 Presidential and National Assembly Elections.
1. If votes don’t count, Obasanjo couldn’t have 'lost' in his polling unit after his campaigns for Atiku.
2. Then, people made Buhari their choices at Atiku's polling unit in Adamawa.
3. Buhari lost in the Aso Rock polling unit and eventually in the Federal Capital Territory.
4. Osinbajo who is the incumbent Nigeria VP was defeated by PDP at his polling unit.
5. As powerful as he is, Bukola Saraki lost in his Senatorial District and all elective positions he hitherto commanded influence in Kwara State.
6. Despite all the manifest or supposed persecution by government, Dino Melaye still won the Senatorial Election in Kogi West as an opposition candidate.
7. Senator Akpabio's influence couldn't help him retain his seat in the Senate for another four year.
8. Dogara still won his seat back into the House of Representatives based on the choice of his people despite leaving the ruling party.
9. Ajimobi of Oyo State could not win to fulfil his senatorial ambition after spending eight years as governor.
10. Peter Obi got the PDP VP slot and the PDP won in all 'Igbo states' of the South East and the South South. But even with Osinbajo holding the APC VP slot, APC lost two 'Yoruba states' of the South West.

People made their choices. We don't have to make it sound as if anytime our choices don't emerge, it means rigging.

GOD BLESS NIGERIA, AMEEN!

Don't say what you don't knwo. That is the title conferred on anyone who is CAN President. He doesn't use it as Baptist Title. It is CAN adopted title for such men.We Baptists don't use it.Baptists have the most humble.ministers in Nigeria who don't crave for title. You can't see more than Revd. If you see Dr attached it is based on the person's academic attainment PhD.D.Min.and not ministerial title

we know there might still be under-aged voting but it wont be as bad as it is now
