The 9th Assembly in Ondo state would no doubt record large number of new lawmakers based on the recently conducted House of Assembly election.

Results of the Saturday’s March 9 House of Assembly election showed that the All Progressives Congress, APC, had the majority of the lawmakers having won 23 of the total 26 seats at the poll, while the opposition parties won the remaining three seats.

Out of the three seats, the Peoples Democractic Party, PDP, won two seats while the Zenith Labour Party, ZLP won one. The two seats won by the PDP are, Akoko North-East and Idanre, while the ZLP won only Ondo West 1. Other 23 seats were won by the ruling APC.

However, out of the total 26 lawmakers that would form the 9th Assembly, only eight members were re-elected while the remaining 18 members are new comers.

All the eight re-elected legislators are members of the APC.

The APC fielded nine out of its 19 incumbent lawmakers but one of them, Fatai Olotu from Akoko North-East, lost his re-election to the opposition PDP.

The eight re-elected legislators included incumbent Speaker, Bamidele Oleyelogun, from Ifedore constituency; his deputy, Ogundeji Iroju, representing Odigbo constituency 1; and Chief Whip, Oluyede Feyide, representing Ose constituency.

The rest are, the Parliamentary Secretary, Jamiu Maito, representing Akoko North-West constituency 1; Felemu-Gudu Bankole, Akoko South-West 2; Kuti Towase, representing Akoko South-East; Prince Abayomi Akinruntan, Ilaje State constituency 1 and Sunday Olajide, Akure South State constituency 2.

The first timer lawmakers are, Toluwani Borokini, Akure South constituency 1;

Elegbeleye Rasheed from Akoko North East; Mohammed Oladele, Akoko North-West 2; Omole Akinola, Akoko South-West 1; Abiodun Faleye, Akure North; Torhukerhijo Taiwo, Ese-Odo and Akingbaso Festus, Idanre.

Other fresh legislators who would form the next 9th Assembly include, Tomomewo Favour, Ilaje 2; Adefiranye Festus, Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo; Ademola Edamisan, Irele; Aderoboye Samuel, Odigbo 2; Akinrogunde Akintomide, Okitipupa 1; Babatunde Ayetowa, Okitipupa 2 and Oladiji Adesanmi, Ondo East.

The rest include Akinribido Tomide, Ondo West 1; Williams Adewale, Ondo West 2; Ogunmolasuyi Oluwole, Owo 1 and Adeyemi Adesina, Owo 2.
