hello Nigerians,

It is noticed that IBB is determined this time to contest the 2011 election, more so may leave PDP if he looses the ticket at the primaries, but stands to have a divided support due to the interest of Gusau, Buhari and Atiku.

Be that as it may, more in the discussion circle is the point that the 8 years he served as millitary president has not been blotted from the Nigerian constitution hence it accorded him recognition to the State executive council meeting.

Momentarily, Many are posed to seek legal interpretation to this through the judiciary and the definition may become a land mark judgment that will shape the 2011 presidential election.

Fellow Nairalanders and Lovers of Nigeria, Should IBB 8 years in office as millitary president be termed as constitutional 2 terms in office thereby disqualifying him for the Presidential slot come 2011?

Your sincere opinion is anticipated.

All past military dictators should be banned. It is a serious crime to forcefully appropriate the powers of state, as well as being theft it also amounts to kidnapping every single Nigerian citizen. Coup plotters should be jailed and the key thrown away, it is a very serious crime.

@poster,
8 years of military rule is not 8 yrs of govt from my little knowledge of politics. military rulers are not constitutional leaders that is why they stand the risk of death penalty when they fail in their coup attempts hence on that ground, IBB is 300% free to context come 2011.

again, nigerians and nairalanders so much praised obasanjo and ribadu in their fight against corruption in nigeria so if these self acclaimed great men were unable to implicate IBB with any corruption charges, it means he is innocent of all rummours and based on that again, he is 500% free to context.

many nigerians will tell u that IBB destroyed nigeria and this same IBB left aso rock in 1993 and this is 2010 that is 17 yrs on. the big questions, what has changed in the polity and economy of this country? if things have been going from bad to worst since his time, it is another way of saying the others are not better than him hence i say again, he is 600% free to context.

pdp as a party has been arround since 1999 till date and has the chance to continue beyond 2011, it is an indication that someone where is more interested in holding tight the powers without considering how the citizens are fairing hence i think it is reasonable to give another person or groups chance to try their luck as we see in the usa where powers change hands from time to time. based on this, ibb or even a criminal in our jails shld be given an opportunity to change things bcs we are sinking by the day.

under ibb, the death of dele giwa and mama vasta were among the emotional deaths recorded that made people to believe that IBB is a killer and was known for that untill 1999 when obj deleted two communities one in bayelsa and the other in benue and crowned it with the killing of bola ige changing our positions on killing madness as part of presidency so IBB still have a 800% chance if after all that obj had chance to context in 2003.

i hope with these few points of mine, i have been able to convience and even confuse u on the need to allow anyone especially those that have the powers to break down this pdp led cabals who have sworn not to see us smile not to talk of laugh in a blessed country like ours.

Unfortunately you are unable to state why he should not contest. Seems your camp is afraid of oposition.

For me he has the right to contest - If you don't want him, don't vote for him - those who want will vote for him. And stop that EFCC trick.

Firstly, he was neva the President, he was the Head of state. Secondly, during military rule the costitution is suspended, hence those years are disregarded. Thirdly, this issues were not raised when Obasanjo and Buhari were contesting but all of a sudden because IBB is contesting they get raised. IBB has the right to contest, he just doesnt have the moral justification to contest. The fact that he is contesting is an insult to the inteligence of Nigerians.

If granted that the constitution was suspended, why are they admitted in the Wednesday council of state meetings as former leaders,
they are also pensionable.

Where they Sworn into office? this should be considered as facts.
