To the OP, others have said it all and I won't want to say otherwise.

I was about giving up too cos nothing was forthcoming, all those you meet for adverts and promotion won't reply mails or they will ignore you. Those that manage to reply will keep you waiting. I was surprised when Linda Ikeji said she has 2 clients in just 2 days she branched into digital marketing which made me to conclude that in Nigeria before you blow, you need the grace of God which is very important and you need to know someone that knows someone.

If I tell my story, you go pity me but I think that won't motivate others as others seem to see me as a guru making millions with ads and promotions but reserve seem to be the case.

My advice is simple, 1. Pls get a laptop first. 2. If you work full time on blogging, try to get a workstation to be going. there are many workstations in Lagos, for example, we have CChub, ImpactHub etc, this will reduce the cost of fuel, Nepa and internet, I think CChub charges 17500 monthly for their service and you work Monday to Saturday (9 am to 9 pm). You save enough cash and money on fuel, internet, no NEPA failure nonsense and you can have time to concentrate.

Lastly, you need to have a passion for what you are doing. I started AutoReportNG cos I am passionate about roads, cars, environment and holding government accountable. For you to blow, passion must be your watchword.

First the guy complaining above lacks proper understanding about what Google truly wants from a blog.
If you want to be successful in blogging with minimum cost or no cost in terms of promotion then you need to pitch your tent with google.

Read the webmaster guideline first then understand what they want. I get pissed off when people mention ikeji. And that alone will and have lead so many bloggers to failure or near failure.

Ikeji blog enjoys direct visitors and if it's from organic it has to still be people typing her blog name. Her blog is almost filled with plagiarism hence it won't rank high.

The opp should spend time on keywords research and also try to understand Google panda, penguin and why they strike and how they strike and what made them to bring sites down.


Its very possible to make good money from your blog in less than 6 months or 1 year or even 4 months

It takes a miracle a for an advertiser to pay 50k to bloggers in Nigeria but they go on LIB and pay hundreds of thousands even million on just a post even when the blogger will do a better job than her.

I have had my shares of stories to tell. Jumia is number killing the industry, they rely so much on free post but these guys are making serious money on their platform, I can go on and on, hotels.ng is another story.

When I sit and analyse all these, we can't really blame them cos bloggers have spoilt lots of things! In a bid of quick money, we left many things undone and we jumped the scale.

A sponsored ad on LIB now is between 100-150k but on your blog, you will talk, cajole before they pay 10k with conditions.

We need a new mindset and they need to know that Rome is not built in a day. LIB didn't attain her celebrity status today, blogging is just like a building, you start with the foundation before raise the pillars and so on.
