This is the second time you're going to mention this highlighted statement.

Are you the father of 4 and a youth corper that is serving?

Either way, having more kids than you can financially afford to sustain and support in this very harsh Nigeria Economy is very unwise of such a person.

Now as per the other excuses the you listed there concerning the un-fair practices of opportunities being practices in Nigeria well unfortunately that is the evil beast of Nigerians that only the strong and fearless can overcome.

Dont mind those people.....
All they know is to make babies.

With the situation of Nigeria some people still have 3 wives and many children's. Yet they keep shouting hardship.

Nigeria is not a developed country, we shouldn't be expecting much in a country full of different tribes and religion

The catch all phrase for most of these jobs is "petty trading". In reality, a vast majority of Nigerians survive on small scale/petty trading, small scale manufacturing and farming. The government and private sector employs a smaller percentage of Nigerians. I recall seeing some statistics that put Nigeria's labor force at about 60 million with 70 percent involved in agriculture as an ocupation. But don't look down on these jobs. Many raise families and educate their kids through university level on these jobs.

Haaaa... stop saying things like this, you want them to attack you, they see nothing good with Nigeria, I know someone that made N5.8m from fish pond, this life is very funny ooo, your attitude to work can never be change even if you run to U.S.

Her visa denial is based on presumption she could stay with her son family until getting her own application to green card when her son becomes a US citizen. And also her son can visit his mother together with his wife and his child, the mother's visa is not critical, they can see each other in Nigeria or any other country. Why insisting the mother obligatory needs to go to US?

Good evening house,

After booking an appointment, i discovered that i made a mistake in my first name with just a letter, but the name on DS169 form is correct.

I have submited online query form from the appointment feedback, have sent an email to mail to the support, and i was told that i should just continue with the Ds160 form.

Please help, i hope i won't be turned back on my interview day or tag as misrepresentation...

Any advice or possible solution will be appreciated.

Its the truth so let them attack away. If you go back one or two generations, most all of our working ancestors were either farmers or traders. They raised their children through these means and are still doing so today. But lets be real, Nigeria don spoil oh! I don't blame anybody for being angry at the country

This is one bad part of our culture. Even if a man wants to have only one or two children as he can afford, family will put pressure on him to have more especially if he doesn't yet have a male child. About 9 years ago, I went to Nigeria with my best friend who had 2 female children at that time. He did not want anymore kids and had told his parents that he and his wife had made that decision. We arrived at his family house where they welcomed us warmly and served us food. I noticed the young lady that was serving my friend and I. She did not serve anyone else and she would kneel down whenever she placed anything in front of us. My friend asked who she was and if she's a relation. His dad said no, that shes just helping out around the house. My buddy asked why and if shes not in school. His Dad said to leave that line of questioning that they will discuss later. After lunch, his Dad called him into the bedroom and told him that they had married a second wife for him so that he could bear male children. My buddy stormed out of the room, slammed the door and was cursing at the top of his voice. This guy is usually cool, calm and collected, he's a college professor. I have never seen him so upset. I had to restrain him and cover his mouth so as not to insult his Dad. Imagine the effrontery. They said he should impregnate the girl and leave her with them for a few years then come and bring her over to the U.S. later. Long story short, he told them off and left. Did not go home again for 5 years. We joke about it today but it wasn't funny back then. Neither of us told our wives about the incident to avoid trouble grin

Wow!!!...What a very embarrassing event embarassed

It looks like your friend's parents must have been one of the un-educated ones.

Reason is because they would have known better that it's the man that determines the sex of a child and not the woman.

What if let us just pretend that your friend out of weakness had agreed to his parents pressure and then went along to impregnate the lady and then she ends up still giving birth to a female child? what would your friend's parents have done? Find him another woman to try again

You gotta have thick skin to survive in the Nigerian environment. Embarrassment was the least of emotions when this situation came down. He was very angry and bitter. Lots of background history in the story. His father abandoned his mom with 7 kids when my friend was a teenager... about 13 years old. He struggled through high school but God blessed him with academic prowess. He got a state government scholarship to study in the US. The state stopped paying after the first year and he suffered in his second year working odd jobs. Finally, he got a full ride scholarship and was made a research assistant due to his hard work and fantastic grades. Went on to get masters and PHD.
All through school, he was sending money home to support his mother. This is how she managed to build their first small family home.
The father showed up on the doorstep one day and Mom let him back in because he had nowhere else to go.

Due to his experience growing up, he vowed never to have more children than he can take care of. In fact, he had already had a vasectomy when we went to Nigeria so having more children was not even an option at that point. I will not pass judgement, but his dad manipulated his mom to go along with the plan. We later learnt that she was not happy about it.
As per not knowing how male children are conceived, you will be surprised as to the large number of educated illiterates that exist in Nigeria. The advent of the internet has been a huge blessing in Nigeria because it has vastly increased the knowledge of the younger generation. The older ones are a lost cause.

Pls I have once applied for an America visa but I was denied.the invitation letter was from my uncle who has lived there for over 25yrs,he is a lecturer in one of the colleges in texas.i spoke to him about my intentions to travel abroad the last time he visited us,so he agreed he was going to invite me.though we bare the same surname but for one or two reasons I was denied at the embassy.but I am thinking of reapplying with the influence of his son which is my cousin........he is a 3star general or so in the U.S army and we also share the same surname.....my point is would the embassy take my cousins position in the government into consideration by granting me a visa .....because I keep on hearing from locals that if a government official invites someone, there is a great chance of the person been granted a visa.....Incase you wanna know why I didn't request the letter from my 'auwa' cousin initially,we didn't have a relationship until recently.
Though after my 1st denial at the embassy,my plan was to tour Europe before I try America again, which could take me 2yrs to achieve and it's quite a long period for me to bear in this country, but lately it just seem as if I could use my cousin's influence in the American government, instead of going through the stress of travelling to Europe b4 reapplying for America again
Pls house I need valid advices
Thanks.

Bro please let the fellow do what so ever he wish to do if you don’t have a good advice for him then read and pass.

This country is good for some and not good for some. Seeing the good side of the country is not by hard work oo it by God grace.

To be sincere Nigeria economy is not encouraging to youth after service year. Imagine going to school and no good job for years. We have more unemployed youth yearly and people serve and pass out yearly.

To join Nigeria army self if you no sabi person u no go join even police and so on.
