The question now is, my mum was refused a visit visa last year, she wanted to celebrate her friends bday but was refused, no serious reason was given asides the general reason of not qualifying at this time. She has only been to Dubai since the refusal. This year, she wants to attend a health conference sponsored by her organization, cos she heads the department. I just want to know if she is on the right part. She has been working for 31years as a health professional. And will this corona virus not stop the US from issuing visa?..

To be honest with you, I think people that have been refused in the past have better chances to get the visa provided that they can work on the reason why they were refused in the first place. What was the main reason she was refused? She can deduce this from her situation at that time and the questions she was asked.

She can then work on those points highlighting what has changed between then and now.

Honestly, save your money. If you honestly ask yourself and answer these questions,you will know I am not being mean. The person graduating isn't even your family, will the graduation not hold either you there or not, you are still a student, do you think the VO will see you as not taking advantage of the Visa? You are a flight risk, why will your dad be spending over 300k for you to go attend a friend's graduation if he doesn't see that as a send off gift to you. Pls, note I may be wrong but generally, these and many more are what the VO will use to assess you.

I finally had my 221g interview on the 30th of April. I was denied.
I had applied for renewal via Dropbox on the 25th of February 2019, got my passport back on the 25th of March 2019. I started the search for dates and finally got 30th April. I would have been 36+ weeks at that date but I had no other choice than to wait.
As God will have it my water broke on the 27th of April and baby came within minutes.

I still thought to go for the interview and so on the 30th I did. Transcript below:

VO: Hello, Passport please
Me: Hi (hands over passport)
VO: why do you want to go to the US?
Me: Z had initially planned to go have my baby but she came early, so now I’d just love to go on vacation sometime in the summer.
VO: are you married?
Me: yes
VO: how many kids do you have?
Me: 2 babies now (smiling)
VO: (straight faced all this while, not even one eye contact) when did you get married?
Me: 2 years ago *mentions date*
VO: what’s your husband’s date of birth
Me: *mentions date of birth*
VO: what does he do?

VO: how long do you intend spending in the IS
Me: 6 weeks ( that’s what I had on my ds160)

Me: UK, US, China, Spain, Italy, South Africa (went blank cos I lost count, then I told her there are a couple others- I have lost count)

Me: US, Spain, Italy, SA, Greece. (At this point I was beginning to loose interest, she was typing for long inbtw questions, not even one eye contact, my mind had drifted to my new born at home already lol)
VO: please confirm your husband’s date of birth again?
Me: *mentions*
VO: sorry at this point you do not qualify for the visa, u are welcome to reapply at any other time and possibly the VO reviewing your application might be convinced otherwise.
Me: thank you (nods in agreement, collects yellow paper)
At this point she looks up for the 1st time, suddenly raises eyebrow and goes soft with a smile.
Me: *takes my leave*

Note: I was never asked for my itemized bills, I had paid in full, no discounts and I used an expensive hospital in Maryland.
My husband was refused a UK visa for a business travel and I am assuming that I might’ve been denied the US visa based on that too, going with how she kept on questioning me about my husband like she was trying to confirm he was actually the one.

Anyways for now I am fully occupied and focused on baby. I will reapply sometime in future, we will probably apply again for a UK visa before we try the US again.

I was granted a B type US visa today together with my wife. In my opinion, travelling history is one of the key factors for a successful US visa application. The filling of DS 160 form is very key. A very big thank you to the creator of the platform and all the contributors. Lest I forget, my transcript is not different from all other transcripts. THANK YOU ALL!

Visa fee is 59k
Your wife has to request for I.20 for you from her school international office, if you decide to use F2

UPDATE: i'm applying for F2 and she has gotten the I-20 from her school. Is it okay to just scan it to me, while I print it out? because to send it down here is about 66 dollars
Also where in the process will I pay the visa fee? Do I need to pay SEVIS fee?

It’s better she send it, pay the visa fee at any GT bank, go with your passport. You don’t have to pay sevis fee for F2.

To fill a new form, click start application.
Make sure you save (copy, and, email, write out) the application id nos to log back in to continue of finish the application

Then you should assess yourself based on this. What are your ties? Married or Single? Your job travel history etc. Your ties are those factors that will bring you back to your home country against all odds. I suggest you read some pages back to understand all these from other people’s transcripts. But you see, invitation letter doesn’t do Jack in your application. So forget that and see how you can convince the VO. The truth is going for a friend’s graduation/convocation doesn’t even mean anything to them again infact, no purpose of travel is genuine anymore.

Sorry to bust your bubble, the graduation will happen without you, if you have extra money to spend on travel, then start building your travel history with country with easy visa procedure, start with Dubai, Singapore, East Africa Countries, UK before applying for U.S, this is my small advice and opinion because right now U.S Embassy will likely refuse you.
