@Seyewest, what makes me think they will give me is the ability to convince the consular officer this time, being able to demonstrate my eligibility better than last and above all, God's favour. Here is my previous transcript that led to a denial;

After passing passport and i-20 upon request;
VO: Why finance
Me: My goal is to work in the Financial services industry, specifically corporate finance. I did Finance as my undergraduate major, so a graduate degree in finance will equip me with the required mathematical and analytical skills to excel in the chosen career field. It will also improve on the theories I have learnt at my undergraduate level while providing me with practical applications of the said theories.

VO: Who is sponsoring?
Me: I got a 30% Dean's scholarship in form of a tuition waiver and my uncle will be handling the rest

VO: what does he do?
Me: He is into clearing and forwarding business. Also does Agriculture. *I paused....then continued;
I have his bank statements and affidavit..

VO: I was(or wasn't, I didn't hear him clearly) going to ask for that
Me: searching for the document

VO: you do not qualify
Me: I left

N.B: my voice shaked a little at the start of the answer to my first question but it wasn't obvious at all

I think you should have a specific place you will like to work with when you finish your study in U.S and also have all document on hand.

Hello everyone..
I had a successful visa renewal yesterday in Abuja. Got an email today saying passport ready for pickup..how possible is this?
Thanks

They should have even made you wait and pick it up...I mean how many visas are still being issued? Work has greatly reduced in that unit!

Goodluck with your reapplication.

I think you need to have crisp and concise answers to the following questions;
Why finance?
Why this school?
What will you do after the degree?

These are some of the questions asked of my sister who just got her f1 visa.

Also, maybe your parents can be sponsor and not an uncle ( parents are a closer relationship).

Research on why you’re interested in finance, maybe using corporate finance as a development tool for your country’s economy, equippping yourself with cognitive skills and getting competitive advantage over others in the same field.

Research the course you want to study and how it will help you develop these skills. Also research the school, what makes them stand out? Etc.

Hopefully this will all work in your favour

@kalkaothar,i completely agree with the inputs seyewest and nersh. Take out time to work on the points raised however making your parents your sponsor show more ties back home compare to an uncle who might ditch these responsibility in the future and who obviously has his own too to cater for. All the same, best of luck.

Honesty is the key. The These people (VOs) are not stupid. The sort of things you hear people say makes you wonder and will definitely get anyone’s back up: like you must think am a fool.

I also noticed the emphasis to everyone that got the visa, the need to use the visa firstly for what you stated. I heard a vo ask a woman how long she was travelling for, she said 4months. The vo said, but you wrote one month in your form...they talked n talked on it. Finally, I am approving your visa, but pls make sure you don’t stay longer than 4 months as I have written 4 months for you. You will be stamped for 6 months but don’t be tempted to stay over 4 months. It will (not can) affect your renewal....

Things have really changed. Wishing all genuine visa applicants the very best.

If one was denied a visa about 3 years ago at Abuja embassy, does it matter for such an individual to use the same center or he/she can use other location Lagos?

Thanks.

I mentioned we got our visa approved (family of 3)

we flew British Airways from England to Orlando ( long but nice flight, too many chops)

Landed in Orlando and was on the queue for the border checks for 2hrs 15mins (At this time I was almost giving up on visiting America again as i was with a toddler that is super tired from a delayed 9hrs 30mins flight.

Got to the border officer after the long wait, was asked how many days we will be spending and if we came with food items which we said no.

we got stamped in for 6months, we spent 10days in America and back to base now. I miss the space in America, Britain is so squashed undecided

Did I mentioned Orlando was fun, Walt Disney world was it for my toddler but holy land was the icing on the cake for me.
