Even In Poverty, Your Education Is A Priority.

I’ve been left alone while in your pregnancy
For so early death has came for the life of your daddy
After while, I was antagonized by members of his family
Behind me, they set tormenting conspiracy.


From my husband’s house, I was sent packing
I wasn’t opportune to leave with any belongings
I left in tears and thus started a new journey
Alas, since then life has been unfriendly.


In pains and agony,
I gave birth to you.
With no cash or goodies,
I brought you up my darling.


Hence, we rarely afford three times meal
Sugarless pap turns tea
To us, life has not been rosy.
But still, your Education is a major priority.


I will do all I can regardless of the poverty
The little I generate shall be spent on your school fee
From Nursery, you will get to Primary.
And after Secondary Education, with God’s mercy you will join them in the University.


Weep not my darling
Let’s accept our faith and live
For in that we can find harmony
I only pray the one we serve changes our pathetic story.


My dear son, to change our tragedy, you’re the key.
In all you do, always be determined.
Never should you joke with your studies
And to prayers, never take with levity.


I so pray one day;
You will be known in and out this country
You shall have your name among men of history
We shall wave to poverty and enjoy autonomy.


I hope death doesn’t come for me early
If I did not end up so early in cemetery,
I shall live to witness your glory
And at the end we shall give joyful testimony.

mothers out there. I pray you all live long to enjoy all
that you work and laboured for.
