Odigbo Residents Task Legislators-elect On Development by joshuaakindele7(m): 3:37pm On Apr 01, 2019
Some residents of Odigbo Local Government area of Ondo State, have called on the newly elected House of Assembly members in the state to focus on addressing challenges bothering on infrastructure, education and environment for the development of the area.

They made the call in separate interviews with The Hope at the weekend, while reacting to the outcome of the just concluded general election in the area.

Hope reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Ogundeji lroju and Samuel Aderoboye of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winners of the poll for Odigbo constituencies 1 and 2 respectively.

A resident of Odigbo, Mr. Victor Akintola said not much was done by the member representing Ogigbo constituency 1 in his first team, adding that the community suffered massive infrastructure decay due to neglect.

He urged the House Assembly member to take proactive steps in bringing government closer to the people through meaningful projects especially the inter city roads that need rehabilitation, to ease traffic congestion, especially during rush hours.

He said: “Very little attention was given to the constituency in the area of development in his first team, particularly on projects that will improve the standard of the area.

“He should focus more on projects that will add value to our people; engage youths and women on meaningful empowerment programmes.

“Nigerians are getting wiser day by day, if he works hard, it will determine his political movement after the next four years,” he said.

Another resident of Ore, the headquarter of Odigbo, Mrs Esther Uche also urged them to address inadequate power supply in the area saying Ore is a commercial hub that needs regular electricity.

Uche, who noted that residents of Ore had been totally neglected from enjoying the dividends of democracy, called on lroju as the deputy speaker of the House to come to the rescue of the residents.

Also, Abass Yekini said no nation could gain meaningful development without the involvement of the economic sector and business operators.

His words “The government in the past paid little attention to the “bread winners“ of the economy, particularly the business operators.

“The lawmakers should join hands with the executive to develop Ore and its environs. Also partner the council to create a conducive environment for business to grow.”
