Suit To Stop The Collation Of Result In Rivers State Election Dismissed By Court by katakataNG: 12:46pm On Apr 02, 2019

The high court in Abuja on Tuesday, dismissed a suit issued by the African Action Congress (AAC) to stop the collation of results of the March 9th election for Governorship and House of Assemblies.

The judgement was issued by Justice Inyang Ekwo, which upheld the People Democratic Party (PDP)’s objection challenging the court’s jurisdiction to hear the case.

The AAC filed their complaint following the violence that disrupted the election in Rivers State, stating that, due to the violence, the election ought to be cancelled and fresh ones conducted.

However, the court stated, agreeing with the PDP that the courst lacked the jurisdiction to hear such cases, which ought to be entertained only in election tribunals post elections.
