West Bromwich Albion fans are to unveil a vast anti-racism banner hailing new signing Peter Odemwingie, following the unfurling of a racist banner by Lokomotiv Moscow supporters aimed at their player.

The Nigerian international made a late transfer window move to West Brom, and went on to score a goal on his Hawthorns debut as his new side beat Sunderland 1-0.

However, days later, his former supporters sported a racist banner at their club's game, depicting a banana alongside the sarcastic words "Thanks West Brom" in reference to their former player.

The insult triggered outrage among football fans across the globe, and Albion supporters came up with ideas to hit back at the racism, leading to the giant banner, thought up by Australian graphic designer Phil Turbutt, which has been paid for by West Brom fans out of their own pocket.

The banner that will be on display at the Hawthorns shows a picture of Odemwingie celebrating his goal for West Brom against Sunderland, with the "Let's Kick Racism Out Of Football" logo on one side and a message in both English and Russian that reads "Thanks Lokomotiv" on the other.
