Snakes have always been the ones at the receiving end of these brutal killings but today the table has turned. RIP woman.
Most anti-venoms are costly and specific. You hardly find them in the pharmacy of private hospitals. Probably they couldn't identify the species of snake that bit her. They should have made incision around the bite also to allow some of the venom flow out with blood.
All in all, the medical facilities available failed them. Sorry.

Founder of the Miracle Working God Ministry in Sapele, Delta State, Prophet Patrick Eyaefe, has recounted how his wife died from snake bite hours after their wedding on March 29th.


Prophet Eyaefe in an interview with newsmen, said himself and his deceased wife had lived together for eight years and had five children and that he decided to formalise their union this year.


According to him, He said "on March 30th, she went out of their home to go and get sachet water when a snake bit her. He accused the hospital he rushed her to after the bite of negligence which according to him, led to the death of his wife."

Very very sad story to hear. I also think that the right venom was not applied. It must have been a highly poisonous snake.

Snake anti-venom is not generalized. Usually anti-venoms available in a particular region is from studies showing the species more prominent in that area. Having said that, research in Nigeria is poor that most zoologists or others in the field of animal studies cannot confidently say the types of snakes in their region. This is important to produce their anti-venoms and make them readily available in health centers and other emergency health outlets.

There are different varieties of snakes, some are poisonous, others aren't. Unfortunately the case here is a from the poisonous type. And who knows if it was the right anti-venom that was administered.

I'd advise and suggest, also to Lalasticlala, that any snake killed or captured should be made public in public domains for identification and classification. If poisonous, then the region it is found should have the corresponding anti-venom.

Some venom's destroy the tissues thus leading to haemorrhage. Oxygen can't even get to the area. Some venom's attack the respiratory and nervous system, leading to collapse of the system. First thing to do is to kill the snake and go along with it the hospital.
Tie a tourniquet above the incision mark of the fang.

The blame is on the hospital. No venom kills in 5 minutes. It takes more than that, most times an hour or two. So the man is right about negligence
