I think the best option here is to be self employed.i am a graduate presently serving in cross rivers most times I don't even report at my PPA despite the the threat to sanction me. I design buildings and even without having a contract of my own I sometimes make more than 50k a week.the minimum i make weekly is 25 to 30k.thank Goodness I resigned from the 6k work I got immediately I left secondary school after just three days just to learn something even when we saw 6k then as millions.i just plan to save up something to relocate outta this country.sometimes I can't even save up to 20k a month because of family commitments, friends will call for help, babes go come do their own. we survive in this country by God's grace .

The Government will probably pass an act that will prevent people without education related certificates from being teachers in Primary and Secondary schools. There goes your N26 000 salary. I am not saying you should go for the DSA job, just telling you that getting a job whether Oil and gas or conductor is not the end but the beginning of searching for multiple sources of income.

I graduated in the year 2015 and did my NYSC in the year 2016 to 2017. Ever since, getting a job has been something else. Well, last year I took up a teaching job in a private school and the salary is around 26 thousand naira. I have been on it for a year now. I hardly have time for my self considering the number of classes and periods.

I recently got a job with Stanbic bank as a Direct sales agent (marketing) with a salary of about 50 thousand.
I am afraid of taking up the offer because of all these bank targets and how to meet up with the target. I am afraid let me not lose the job I have now and take up this offer and can't meet up with the target.

Pls those that have done this DSA job and others can do well to advise me and give me first hand experience and way of meeting target.
Thanks.

Bro I'm in ur shoes as it stands right now.i'm currently with a school.although I have not gotten a good job yet,I plan traveling to a bigger city to go job hunt during these holidays.

So I did advise u to leave ur comfort zone and go take up that job,at least if not for anything, the experience u would Garner would help u in securing a better job in future.

I advise you take the Job. Meanwhile call me 08159390980. Its very important. Thank you

Where is your location the branch you will be working for. Stanbic Ibtc DSA model is OK because they grow their people. If you consider the years your colleague in your school where u presently teach with your 3-5 years in Stanbic you will see wide difference .

I laugh when most people laugh at teachers. Do you know that most people are now coming into Education/Teaching? Teaching is one of the best profession around.
The ops did not tell us what he makes after the monthly salary of 26k. What of the pp he does? What of the holidays? You have started on a low level, what you need to do is to improve yourself by going for a PGDE, then you move to an international school where you will be happy
with yourself for being in the right profession.
My brother, THERE IS NOTHING IN BANKING!Its glorified profession...please improve yourself in teaching and you will never regret. Stay in teaching....it pays....You will thank me later.

He did Education in school, so PGDE is not needed again.

If you like yourself, DONT TAKE THE BANK MARKETTING JOB. It is that time you'll realize the 26k is worth more than the 50k. If u want sales, go into pharmaceutical or real estate or something more sensible. Not bank or insurance sales agent
Even the experience you're talking about, that kind of sales experience is almost negligible. It's in same category as the teaching

Can someone go into pharmaceutical without experience in pharmacy ?

Don't take the DSE job. If you do, have back up plans because if you don't deliver, they will throw you out in no time. Bank contract job is seriously insecure with intense pressure. While on it, save as much as you can and keep looking out for better opportunities.

That is just it. I don't want to be too comfortable on the teaching job. Some people that I met in that school have been there for the past 11 years and it was just recently that their salary was increased to about 50k..They are stucked there. They can't move on cuz of age. That is not what I want for myself.

My dear, teaching is not it but what a lot of teachers bank on is the home lessons that come with the job.

I have a friend that earns 18k as salary, but does five different lessons (Mondays to Sundays) and earns 80k extra from that.

I currently teach, earn 30 and I'm seriously hustling extra lessons. I have colleagues in my school doing two and earning 50k extra.

If I were in your shoes I would stick with the teaching job and try to get private or table lessons.

On the other hand, if you do decide to try the bank job, you can do it for a year to see how it turns out. If it doesn't work out, there are other schools out there to apply to if your current school doesn't take you back.

why are you like this? My branch manager was once a DSE and he rose to the ranks and now he is a branch manager, I too started from marketing as contract, in life if one dont take up challenges, he won't go to the top. Without a cross, there is no crown.

Depends on your particular bank. Some banks can never convert a DSA to a full staff no matter what. Except the bank feels they are beginning to lose more money to him as commission if he exceeds target. cheesy

But it's all good. He can start the contract job if he chooses to. Like you rightly put it, life is a risk. It can turn out good for him. I hope it does.

ok but blessings dont come from the bank but from God , I hope you know, a customer can admire his tenacity and recommend him for a job in another company. I used to have customers who come to the bank who assist me in getting jobs, I open up to them and give them my cv, it all starts with good interaction with people. I believe you can agree with me that if you have a bank staff that attends to you very well to your satisfaction and infact, anytime you come to the bank, you are always happy to see the staff, and somewhere along the line, you happen to have a slot for a job or maybe a friend communicates with you about a vacancy and immediately you remember the staff who attends to you very well in the bank maybe the person must have opened up to you about job seeking, won't you not recommend the staff for the job?

Life is all about good relationship with people and that is one thing I hold on to.

People prefer to remain in their current predicament than attempt to make changes.. I was once a sales rep earning 15k far away from home.. I couldn't remain at home, so I took my chances than remain there.. the role wasn't paying much but I had opportunity of meeting people and clients.. it one of the clients that recommended me for my current role, that pays much much much more plus I had time to learn and grow..

If you aren't getting satisfaction where you are make a choice to do things differently.. bro, after all in life you only get to live once, don't grow old thinking about opportunities you didn't take ..

Go out there, live life, make mistakes, cry, smile, sweat, fear, laugh, be anxious and live it... you never know where it leads...

Just my.two penny
