I used to buy it and read when i was in secondary school without letting my parents know. It's been so long. Does it still sell in Nigeria? |
Re: What Happened To The Ikebe Super Magazine? by layi(m): 11:50pm On Jan 14, 2006 |
No. Its no longer in circulation. the publisher Wale Adenuga has decided to turn the project into a TV feature titled "Papa Ajasco and Company". The other magazine "Binta" has gone through same fate. |

Cant believe that I stooped so low to read that garbage that Adenuga was peddling as a heart warming story Shame on him!!! That magazine, along with lolly should have been banned!!!. |

Re: What Happened To The Ikebe Super Magazine? by exotique(f): 2:51pm On Jan 26, 2007 |
Ndipe: Must you insult the producer? Why on earth must you call his collection garbage? Tell me how many books u have written? I'm not even sure u can write a one-page essay about yourself. Try to look for - and appreciate - the good in people. Adenuga's works reflect creativity. I see no reason why it should have been banned. Lolly is not in the same zip code as Ikebe super, that comparison was uncalled for. 2 Likes |

All I wanna know is what the heck happened to the "Dauda the Knacker" comic magazine series I used to remember "taking style" to buy it in my teens - walk up to the vendor, ask for a newspaper then whisper to him for the Dauda one (with my sun-shades on, making sure no one I knew was around) LOL. Ahhh, such memories 1 Like |

Exotic, be honest, would you let your children read Ikebe super magazine? Same question is applicable to those who have 'nostalgic' memories of reading that magazine. |

I started reading as early as 7 and I understood quite well, in fact, those magazines helped give me an artistic mind, and a flair for arts and music. Comics are the best things a lad can have at that time. |
Re: What Happened To The Ikebe Super Magazine? by exotique(f): 4:15pm On Jan 29, 2007 |
@Ndipe I never mentioned reading d mag as a child, so I think the issue of allowing my children to read it or not is of no relevance. All I'm saying is that you should avoid criticizing other people's work. No matter how little it may be, we always have something to learn from others |
Re: What Happened To The Ikebe Super Magazine? by VOR(m): 9:22pm On Jan 29, 2007 |
@ Exotique, You are talking twaddle. By your logic unless we know about something we have no right to hold an opinion or criticise someone or something. To show how absurd your reasoning is: Suppose I went to a tailor to have a suit sawn but he produced a load of rubbish, you know trousers too tight, no zip, buttons fall off etc.Are you saying I shouldn't criticise him because I don't know how to sew myself? |
Re: What Happened To The Ikebe Super Magazine? by Ndipe(m): 11:15pm On Jan 29, 2007 |
How then can you criticize me for labelling the magazine as garbage if you have never read ikebe super@exotique? |
