@Mwanamwiwa If you drive to North coast Karibu na Mtwapa, do capture a few photos of Intercontinental Resort na Serena beach resort. Zinanikumbusha honeymoon ya jamaa fulani. And they would complement this very beautiful thread. Ata view ya the facade ya Whitesands from the ocean si mbaya hivyo and would be a beautiful addition to its beautiful pool. No place in the whole of 9ja beats these sights. |

Greetings to all the users in this forum. I would like to thank the creator-who by the way is a proud Nigerian, other contributors of words and pictures too. I have enjoyed every bit of the fifty something pages so far. I just had to register, so that I could also make some comments ![]() ![]() ![]() I think it's very wise for the ones using this thread to respect this initiative, and refrain from childish and ignorant comments, that aren't taking anyone, anywhere!!!!!!!!!!! I'm quite encouraged by the people of Naija, that have contributed positively-comments and also constructive criticism- for my fellow Kenyans, just enjoy the pictures and the comments, don't be sensitive to the negative and ignorant ones-which DON'T MATTER, except to their owners!!!!!!!!!! I'm currently in the states, therefore, I have had a lot of first hand experience with many people from all over the world, including Nigerians. I like Nigerians, and there are very many positive minded ones, but also quite a few who are quite annoyingly ignorant-but they don't represent all Nigerians!!!!!!!!!! Some facts in this thread; It's for information, not competition, a lot of people have maintained maturity, Kenyans have a lot of culture too, we have many traditional foods,Kibera is the largest slum in Eastern and Central Africa-NOT AFRICA-please check your facts!!!!!!!!!! Kibera is part of Nairobi, 70% of Nairobi's population doesn't live in Kibera or slums, by the way, those slums that are being negatively potrayed are actually home NOT only to Kenyans, but also Uganadans, Ethiopians, Somalis,Sudanese and believe it or not some NIGERIANS too!!!!!!!!!YES I SAID NIGERIANS- so they are actually a positive, in a way!!!!!!!!!!!,Kenyans, value education and have very high literacy levels, Kenyans are a diverse group of people made up of aboriginal Africans(Blacks),Arabs and Cushitic people, Asians(Indians) and Whites-that is a very unique quality, so we love our fellow Indian and European brothers and sisters- and they don't control us-plus, if you learnt any Kenyan history, you would know, the colonial masters, classified people i.e whites 1st,Indians2nd and ultimately Blacks-so that has really changed a lot- just cos some of them stayed on after independence, doesn't mean we're under them, after all, they've been here for many generations. As Kenyans also, we have lived with people from other African countries that neighbour us, and that helps promote tolerance and appreciation!!!!!!!!Zulu is not a Kenyan language-try South African, and I'm sure it has a lot to offer- Why would some stupid person say stupid things about Zulu? Oh by the way, some photos by 'Ignorant', were similar to the people on 'The gods must be crazy'- that was an interesting movie- but those are NOT Kenyans and I'm sure they have really preserved their culture!!!!!!!! Someone was hating on Maasais, yet complaining about how Kenyans have no culture-there you go!! Maasais actually go to school and get very educated, don't just see cattle and men with spears. Another person said Kenyans have no cultural food,REALLY ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Keep enjoying, please I can't wait to hear any feedback, it's all good and educative!!! Wasee wangu wa home niaje? asante sana kwa picha na maoni yenyu!!!!!!(Hi Kenyans who contributed, many thanks- and to my Naija brodas and sistez oh! thanks too-you have a lot to offer oh!!!!!!) |

I just came across this site today and it blows me away. It's 40 years since I was in Kenya and it's wonderful to see the accomplishments of the intervening years. So nice to see some good news stories. We all hear much about the downside - full marks to all those showing us here the other side of the coin! I am daring to make one or two minor points of correction. First, on this page, Mwanawiwa has a photo of the war memorial on Kenyatta Avenue. I think he will find, if he checks, that it commemorates, in the first place, those who died in the First World War, 1914-1918. Then a couple of other things from some 20 or more pages back. First, I do not believe Mwanawiwa was correct in stating that FW de Clerk attended Nairobi (Prince of Wales) School. As far as I know, he was educated entirely in South Africa - high school in Krugersdorp and then Potchefstroom University. The family was rooted in South Africa and its politics, where his father was head of the Senate. One other point I noticed was the statement that Kenya's State House was constructed in 1907. Certainly, there was a construction around that time, but it was not the present building, which was designed in the 1920s, like a number of prominent buildings in Nairobi, by the noted British architect Sir Herbert Baker, with construction overseen by his Nairobi-based associate, Jan Hoogterp. Finally, I confess that so far I have only got through the first 30 pages, so perhaps this has already been covered, but I hope that the Alliance High School will be properly represented, being the distinguished school which so many of Kenya's national leaders attended. Beyond that, I hope to see more of the development of the smaller towns also. What more can I say but to offer profound thank you for this wonderful and inspiring collection of photos. Keep it up! |
