Former Flying Eagles defender Nduka Anyanwu is dead.


According to Goal.com on Tuesday, the FSV Oggersheim player collapsed on the pitch during his side‘s Bezirkliga clash with Queichhambach, and medical treatment on the pitch came too late to save his life.


It was not confirmed what caused Anyanwu‘s death, but reports on Tuesday suggested that the former Dynamo Dresden defender was struck by a heart attack.


The deceased started his professional career at Eintracht Frankfurt in 1997 and had plied his trade in Germany ever since.


Anyanwu represented Nigeria at U-17 and U-20 levels between 2000 and 2002.
