PRESS RELEASE

Nigeria Customs Service Board (NCSB) at its 54th Regular Meeting on Tuesday 29th March 2022 approved the promotion of 3,466 General Duty and Support Staff officers.

The Honorable Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning and Chairman, NCS Board, Hajiya Zainab Ahmed who presided over the meeting highlighted the importance of discipline and engendering a work ethic based on transparency and an all-encompassing reward system.

Among Comptrollers promoted are:
SA Bomoi, AA Anthony, BO Olumo, CK Niagwan, MM Tilleygyado, MC Ugbagu, CD Wada, A Bako, AM Adegbite, KI Adesola (Mrs), NP Umoh, OO Orbih and RC Nwankwo.

A breakdown of the 3,466 Officers whose promotion has 1st January 2021 as the effective date is as follows:

For consol 08 the promoted staffs are 758 General Duty + 48 SS making 807. 427 passed out from ikeja recently, does this mean they will only take in 380 officers cadet in the supplementary list to fill in the remaining vacant spaces?

From what I heard, they are picking four (4) per local government. When you multiply by the 774 local governments you get 3096.


Please that figure above is not just for officers, it's for both officers and other ranks. Plus they said there's no fixed sharing formula for the ranks for the replacement as the 4 per local government would be based of the rank vacant in your local government.

Also Assistant Superintendent of Customs II are officers(Consol 08), that's the rank you would start with as a graduate. That's the only one i am concerned about and according to that promotion list they promoted a total of 807 Assistant Superintendent of Customs II to Customs I (759 are GD staffs, 48 are SS). Meaning they freed up 807 spaces for the officers at least. If we are even going by the LGA thing then out of the 774 slots for officers 427 have already been taken remaining 327 even less than my earlier estimation.

May I ask where you got this information that 427 officers passed out from the training college ?
Because every news outlet and even NCS social media pages stated that it was 415

I understand the maths now. That means for the ASC 2 cadre at best they'll pick one per local government that is for the local governments that were not able to provide one during the main recruitment. Because 327 or even the 380 is just about half the number of local governments in the country. Omoh na war ooo

You are right thanks. I just went with a figure someone posted on this thread for the calculation. Anyway the difference is small for the available slot. That should be 359 instead of 347.

No be small war, this was why it was advised to check if your LGA slot have already been filled before applying. Some people even had to apply for a lower cadre, others change their LGA.

Wetin you dey calculate, custom is recruiting 3800 staffs and they will fill those vacancies

First few people did in their mail, later on for most of us the congratulatory message was just a pop up immediately after submission.

After the first few hours they stopped sending that message (Mail), and very few people received that. It's not a cause for concern as long as you submitted, The Zoho recruiter could have easily switched off the automatic mail response feature.
