Then if by some strange twist of fate he found himself as governor, he would not even be considering contesting for second term, he would instead be battling impeachment for poor performance.

False. As at 2006/07, Fashola was not even a party man not to speak of being a good one, he was just a chief of staff who showed he had the capacity to lead the state, so this premise is clearly wrong as he has shown time without number.

The statement he made is simply just what anybody could have said to keep a conversation thriving and the first half of statement was good enough answer for him/her until the "PDP brain dead" thing.
