We don't have a culture as a nation. Sometimes I feel like slapping people from behind when I see them drinking bottle water and throwing the empty plastic on the street.

Like what the heck man? grin

Go and start one. Clean a street near you. Let the desired environmental change you want start from you.
I understand. But my street is already clean, I want a place more challenging and people to work with for encouragement and support.

Kudos! Those who keep the environment clean can never litter it.

I decided to take a bus one morning and one idiot sitting infront of me was drinking plastic bottled pepsi. Next thing i saw was "fling". He didn't even finish it and threw it on the road; road that cleaners just finished sweeping.
Ahhh!!!. Na God hold me from slapping that man that morning.
Ordinary chewing gum wrap, i put it in my pocket till i see a waste bin.

My type of person. I was coming back from Abeokuta one day and I sitting in front with a female undergraduate.

She almost did same thing. I had to stop her and lectured her on what would happen if every passenger from Abeokuta to Lagos threw out empty containers. She saw reason and held on to the bottle until we got to toll gate. I can't remember what she did again because most of us came down to stretch our legs.

This type of words annoys me as a person! If you can't do it, don't discourage others who are doing it. They didn't complain neither did they report anyone to you.

Its this type of mentality that makes the politicians to be taking advantage of us.

This requires a heavy promotion. Let every youth join hands and make it happen.
This will help control floodings that'll come later this year cos it's bound to happen. The government should provide equipment and resources needed to clean up at ease. Even provide monetary compensations, well that's if they have sense and don't bring politics to it.
Trash bins should be located at all street corners, removed and replaced at least 3 times daily and people should be heavily punished for littering. They should introduce community services for these defaulters. These are little little things the government should do but they will play politics about it and spend budgets on frivolities.

I remember doing this during my youth service. It wasn't really a trash challenge but we were asked to clean up the roads leading to the LGA. We were done before 8 AM and man I haven't seen those roads and drainage channels that clean before but guess what...

I passed the same road 3 hours later and almost had a heart attack.

This is commendable. Next is to clamour for good governance and effective leadership all over the country. Its high time the youths of this nation woke up to challenge the status quo.

There is a need to kick start a revolution. A type that will shake this country and bring the government down to its knees. Never again will the voice of the youths go dim, never again will our leaders take the youths for granted. Never again will the youths be ignored. The future of this country belongs to the youths and not some power-hungry dinosaurs. Tell it to the mountains, tell it to the seas, tell it to the inhabitants of the earth that the youths of Nigeria are finally awake.

Awake grin

Thanks, I will do that.
The situation shows that once again this platform presents itself as nothing but a place to waste time while being unproductive.

I respect your oponion but I dont agree with your analogy. I have been following the thread for months, what I see is that when it comes to community service, you only see few, some are not even aware, it gathers momentum when you have your group offline or an NGO already exisiting, you only hype it for more support, I think this is what folks in Ibadan are doing and it seems to be working for them. Its hard for OAPs to leave their office and come to work during office hours but guys at Beat FM Ibadan broke the norm.

What I am saying is that, it works better when you have a group or when you have large followership on social media who are within your locality.
