Hi all,

Poster wants the 10 greatest Nigerian women of all time NOT 10 greatest of our time.
Dora, Odukoya and co shouldn't be on the list.
I know some may ask 'where is your list?'. Sorry, I don't know the 10 greatest Nigerian women of all time.
Some have actually tried to come up with intelligent responses.

Fumilayo Ransom Kuti etc are more like it. Not Athletes, pastors and political jobbers.

Most people will mention the usual prospects.

But my first choice is Hajiya Bola Shagaya

A very quiet, easy going, humble, hard-working, intelligent, beautiful woman. A successful businesswoman, a home-maker, mother and wife and a true icon of Nigeria and Africa.

She is a paragon of success, a model of excellence, and a standard bearer for the model Nigerian citizen - male or female.

Wow - be like say DORA no too get fans for this thread! LOL!

It makes you wonder though - if you are still part of current Nigerian society, is it easy for you to be declared as one of the greatest of all time

(Although, Soyinka and Achebe come to mind, to counter that argument, )

What do you think?

Should Dora stay or go?

What tangible thing have these women acheived? Let call a spoon a spoon. Apart from the likes of Ezekwesili and Iweala that have achieved on an international playing field, the rest on these lists consists of mediocres, wanna-bes, and almost-were with a sprinkling of feel-good social studies heroines.

VPersie, the truth is, I think there is some weight to what you have said.
I had to laugh at: "a sprinkling of feel-good social studies heroines."

I wonder how we compare the achievements of social studies heroines, to contemporary great women?
Or how we compare the influence of regional giants, to whom most of the country may not be familiar?

Hmmm.
