I really don't think it's Ambode that is trying to please Buhari here. Ambode has already pleased Buhari.
It's Buhari who is keen on reassuring Ambode that he'll always be his right hand man irrespective of what Tinubu has done to him. Buhari was supposed to have intervened heavily during the APC crisis of Lagos which led to Ambode losing his second term ticket. We all know what federal might can do in situations like that. Adams Oshiomhole made the move but Buhari refused to give it the attention it deserved. He allowed Tinubu to have his way. Ambode didn't bear any grudges against him. He worked for Buhari's reelection genuinely.
As the president, he has the right to refuse to have come to Lagos to commission projects that are yet to be completed. That would've been the "normal" thing to do. Trust me, Tinubu would've advised Buhari to reject the invitation had he (Tinubu) been privy to same early enough. But he came! He commissioned uncompleted projects just to ensure that Ambode takes the glory for his hard work! That's huge, my friend. It's huge for Ambode! Buhari would be remembered in history as the Nigerian President who commissioned uncompleted projects. But he didn't care! That's to tell you how deep he loves Ambode.
