ifada123: R=85/6 or 14.1666666... SOLUTION: The dashed lines were added by me. I drew an imaginary Diameter BD(from the uploaded pix). BD subtends an angle of 90 deg with C(at the circumference) implies |BC|^2+ |CD|^2= |BD|^2..... Eqn 1 |BC|^2= 8sq + 15sq = 64+225 = 289 or |BC|=17 Now angle BCX+ angle DCY=90 and 15/17=sin BCX =sin(90-DCY)= cos DCY..... Eqn 2 From Triangle CDY |CY|/|CD|= (8+12)/|CD|= 20/|CD|= cos DCY. Putting in eqn 2 15/17 = 20/CD or CD= 68/3 Fron eqn 1 BC=17 and 17^2+(68/3)^2= BD^2. Or BD^2= 7225/9 or BD=85/3 Therefore R=BD/2=85/6= 14.1666666666.......
