Two men, Kamil Folorunsho, 25 and Rilwan Abioye, 23, were on Monday sentenced to life imprisonment for attacking a couple, Mr Ismaila Akinlabi and Mrs Mulikat Akinlabi with acid in Osun State. Justice R. A. Siyanbola of Ile-Ife High Court of Justice in Osun on Monday sentenced Kamil Folorunsho, 25 and Rilwan Abioye, 23, to life imprisonment for pouring acid on couple. In his judgment, Justice Siyanbola cautioned and discharged the two accused persons on count one and two that bothered on conspiracy to commit murder and attempted murder respectively. However, the Judge convicted them and found them guilty of count three of act intended to grievous harm. The Prosecutors, Mrs Ajibola Alade, the Chief State Counsel and Mr A. O. Adeniji, the Acting Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary, Osun Ministry of Justice, told the court that the convict poured the acid on the face and the body of the couple. The Prosecutors said that the convict committed the offence on Dec 16, 2013 around 2:00 pm at Eleyele Street, Ile-Ife. They added that the offence contravened 320, 324 and 332 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002. Their Defence Counsels, Mr Samuel Judge and Mr Victor Egede, who appeared for the convict pleaded to the court to tamper justice with mercy. The accused pleaded not guilty when arraigned on Dec 12, 2016.
